NEW YORK, NY--(MARKET WIRE)--Nov 6, 2007 -- Atlantic Records has announced the forthcoming release of "P.S. I LOVE YOU - MUSIC FROM THE MOTION PICTURE," the original motion picture soundtrack to the Warner Bros. Pictures/Alcon Entertainment romantic comedy/drama. Due in stores on December 4th, the album features tracks from a diverse range of top artists, including James Blunt, Paolo Nutini, and the one-and-only Pogues. "P.S. I Love You," the film, is slated to open in theatres nationwide on December 21st.
"P.S. I LOVE YOU - MUSIC FROM THE MOTION PICTURE" is highlighted by "Same Mistake," the second single from James Blunt's acclaimed new Atlantic album, "ALL THE LOST SOULS." "Same Mistake" will be featured in the upcoming ad campaign heralding the release of "P.S. I Love You," with the Grammy-nominated troubadour slated to perform the song on a number of high-profile TV programs. The appearances begin on November 20th with a visit to CBS' "Late Show with David Letterman," followed on November 23rd by a morning performance on the syndicated "Live with Regis and Kelly." Blunt will then appear on the December 11th installment of ABC's "The View," as well as on CBS' annual seasonal celebration, "A Home For The Holidays," slated for broadcast on December 21st.
"P.S. I LOVE YOU - MUSIC FROM THE MOTION PICTURE" also includes tracks from such acclaimed singer/songwriters as Nellie McKay, Chuck Prophet, and Lava/Atlantic's own Toby Lightman, as well as from modern rock outfits like Fueled By Ramen recording group The Academy Is..., and Atlantic recording group NEEDTOBREATHE (see tracklisting below).
In addition, "P.S. I LOVE YOU - MUSIC FROM THE MOTION PICTURE" features "Fortress" from Hope, the Los Angeles-based tunesmith whose upcoming Atlantic Records debut is certain to be among 2008's most exciting releases. The soundtrack also includes an excerpt from the film's score, composed by John Powell ("The Bourne Ultimatum," "Happy Feet").
Based on the best-selling novel by Cecelia Ahern, "P.S. I Love You" stars two-time Academy Award winner Hilary Swank as Holly Kennedy, beautiful, smart, and married to the love of her life -- a passionate, funny and impetuous Irishman named Gerry (Gerard Butler). So when Gerry's life is taken by an illness, it takes the life out of Holly. The only one who can help her is the person who is no longer there. Nobody knows Holly better than Gerry. So it's a good thing he planned ahead.
Before he died, Gerry wrote Holly a series of letters that will guide her, not only through her grief but in rediscovering herself. The first message arrives on Holly's 30th birthday in the form of a cake and, to her utter shock, a tape recording from Gerry, who proceeds to order her to get out and "celebrate herself." In the weeks and months that follow, more letters from Gerry are delivered in surprising ways, each sending her on a new adventure and each signing off in the same way: P.S. I Love You.
Holly's mother (Kathy Bates) and best friends, Sharon (Gina Gershon) and Denise (Lisa Kudrow), begin to worry that Gerry's letters are keeping Holly tied to the past, but, in fact, each letter is pushing her further into a new future.
With Gerry's words as her guide, Holly embarks on a touching, exciting and often hilarious journey of rediscovery in a story about marriage, friendship and how a love so strong can turn the finality of death into a new beginning for life.
"P.S. I Love You" is produced by Wendy Finerman, Broderick Johnson, Andrew A. Kosove, and Molly Smith; and written and directed by Richard LaGravenese ("Freedom Writers," "The Bridges of Madison County").

Thanks for the info!
Yes.... I'm with you on that. I honestly was extremely disappointed when I've read in the line-up that Gerry's song weren't on there. I had been waiting for so long to hear Gerry sing again. I was so excited when I've heard he sings in that movie. And I feel so let down that his songs are not on the soundtrack. I probably just download the Celtic and Celtic Rock (The Pogues and Flogging Molly are very famous in the Celtic Rock scene) songs from itunes but won't buy the album. I think they missed out there... big time. I'm very sad. Yes, he'll still sing a bit in the movie, but it's just not the same as the song being on the soundtrack.
