It kinda surprises me that we've received no calls give the length of the MJ vs. GB thread (or maybe it's the "Cacti Abuse Thread," or the "Oops! He Did It Again Thread..." Or, as I affectionately refer to it as the "BS Thread," ) I honestly thought the members (and guests who read the posts) would be jumping on this like, as Holly says, "rats on Cheetos!"

Should you decide to call, you WON'T be live, it's just leaving a message, and we MAY or MAY NOT use your message or we may only use a portion of your message.

So let your opinions be known! Give us a shout out!

Dear Dayna,

As far as I am concerned, there are some issues that prevented me from participating and maybe it's the same for other newbies, this is why I am posting this:

1. I am not too sure what this GBcast is, how it works, where it is broadcast, who can listen to it.
2. How does calling work? You just call and leave a message about one or more topics on the agenda?
3. I think members outside the US cannot call this 801 number (maybe I am wrong but that has been my experience in the past). Also members without Skype cannot call either.

I'm sure this GBcast is a wonderful, fun thing so if understand it better, maybe there will be more callers.

I would love to contribute to the GBCast but it's a little different when you have to actually "speak" your opinions and comments rather then writing them. I'm not good at articulating when I speak, like I do when I write, that's why I write. When you say something out loud and you mess up, you can't take it back as easily as you can fix it in print plus like Theresa says, I'm not sure I know how it works.

Dayna, I'm wondering if people aren't calling due to the time frame, given that Thanksgiving is next week. I know I've been busy all day grocery shopping, cleaning, laundry...and then on top of that, Nathan is working on a music project and my house is VERY NOISY!

I could say lots about these topics, but today just isn't a good time! I'm sure you GALS and PAL will do great!

Okay, if you go to the GBCast link at the bottom of the forum (or click here) and click on "About GBCast," you can learn a whole lot about what GBCast is. The one thing that's wrong about it is that it says we are a bi-monthly cast and we're not. We're lucky to get one in a year! We're all just so busy and trying to coordinate this has been very difficult.

As for the telephone number, if you're in the US, just dial a "1" before the number and it's like any other number you call. Internationally, it's identical to calling the States. You DO NOT have to have a Skype account to call this number. It works just like any normal phone number. I called from my cell to make sure it was working and no problems.

You MAY leave a message regarding more than one topic and we may choose to air one of your answers, all or none! The thing is, just try to make your answers brief. If I were calling in and nervous about how I'd sound, write out what you want to say and read it! I'm serious! I do this ALL THE TIME!

Bummer...we've experienced technical difficulties and had to post-pone the GBCast.

What this means to you is that you've got more time to call in and give us your thoughts/opinions!

Don't be afraid! All you have to do is call the number (it's like any other number), and leave us a message! For those on Skype, call GBCast and leave a message. Yep, it's THAT simple!

OK - Miss Opinionated over here will try to participate. I like the idea of typing up my thoughts, as I, as a writer, find it easier to write than speak my mind - believe it or not.

Thanks for bumping this up ... I never would have given it another thought.

When you say brief, what does that mean? 2 minutes? Less? 5? Just to get an idea. And do you play our messages for others to hear? I'm assuming that's what you do. Do we leave our names first? Are there instructions when we call? Do we mention more than one subject in one message? For example, if I want to comment on LAC and fandom, do I do it in the one brief message? Am I making this more complicated? Too many questions?

Sorry ... but I do want to participate in this.

Well i met up with Dayna and Katie last night to do this but as Dr. Em said above we had technical problems with the software used to record our podcast. Hopefully we will do this asap. But yes please please leave us a message on gbcast on skype or if u dont want that email me your thoughts on the podcast topics and i will mention them and give you the credit,helps me out 2 lol.

OK, I did it! I called and left a message! It was very intimidating at first but I survived, next year it will be easier. I followed Dayna's advice and wrote down what I wanted to say.

To the people who will listen, please remember, English is not my mother tongue and, although I have no problem using it at work or with friends, it is a bit difficult to call and leave a message for anyone to hear.

However, I felt we should support the initiatives taken by the people who run this forum and give us so much Gerry related joy and this is why I made the call. Go ahead, you can do it too or at least write to Stuart with your points!
