Where in Alabama are you? I live in southern Tennessee, just 10 miles or so from the TN/AL state line.
I already have my flight booked out of Huntsville for the Vegas Convention! You should JUST DO IT!!

I'll tell ya something; my first trip alone was from Phoenix Arizona to Cranston Rhode Island. I was flying out to spend a week with two women I had only met once before for about two hours. Best leap I ever took until I decided to go to Con 07. So take your hubby's advice and just go! We'll be there on the other end waiting for ya at the Hilton!

I am a little worried about what to do when I get off the plane, because I have never been anywhere that big, but I am more worried about getting back on the plane from the layover. Thats just me I think that I have to know every little step or I can't do it, but maybe I need to take a leep of faith and go for it.

Awww, flying, including plane changes, isn't that big of a deal! As soon as you get off the plane you should be in sight of an information screen. You just find your next flight and it'll tell you what gate to go to. Airports are probably the best marked of ALL places, so it's easy breezy to find your way around. Also, like Deb said, you can just ask one of the attendants which gate your connecting flight is leaving from.
I'm just like you... I like to have everything planned out, step by step before I undertake it. Still, the first time I flew alone, I was 18 and I flew to Newark, New Jersey. And once I got there I hopped on a train and rode into New York City, and then walked through a City I'd never been to before to my uncle's apartment... all on my own! Trust me... you can fly to Vegas!
By the way, I'm in New Orleans, which isn't that far from AL in the grand scheme of things.

We'd love to have all of you join us. As for having someone help you from the airport, there are a couple of ways to handle this: 1. you can catch a cab from the airport to the hotel -- all you have to do is tell the cab driver to take you to the Las Vegas Hilton. (Fare should be approx. $20, if I recall correctly). 2. I've started a thread for those who'd like to arrange sharing a cab, etc. to "discuss" amongst yourselves. I'm confident that BOTH of you will be able to find someone willing to travel with you from the airport to the hotel.
Dee, you have received quite a gift from your husband! I know, because I have one that supports me, too! (In fact, he's been to the last 2 conventions, too! LOL) Unfortunately, there are many that don't make it because their husband's won't "let them" go. I hope you take advantage of this gift!
I can't find the courage for you to step out of your comfort zone. I can, however, PROMISE that you will NOT be alone once you get there! I have yet to hear of anyone regretting the experience. We're talking two full days of nothing but full-on Gerry lusting, in VEGAS, with like-minded fans! What's not to like?!
As for Patricia, does anyone know enough French to be able offer assistance, if necessary? (As many of you know, I have enough trouble with my own language and accent, so I'm of no help here.
