This seems to be a small private island off the coast of Brazil.

And to cut things off at the pass, it is my belief, as well as some others, that the "friend in India" (obviously lost in translation) reported in the story is his buddy Ronnie (I can't remember his last name) who is from Guyana. Ronnie was in Uruguay with him.

hes having a nice long holiday time this time what with scotland, urguary and now brazil. i wonder if he will meet up with rodrigues, a very nice guy, i met him at the 300 premiere in london. i would split a room with gerry anytime if i was lucky enough, no chance. have a great time gbutt, then its back to reality cos feb. theres the coronolus premiere in berlin, then starting filming in louisana, usa for slide, more producing and of course the pinkerton and burns maybe next year. busy boy. hopefully meet you again, for the fifth time in leicester square this year at one or two premieres of coronolus or machine gun preacher. looking forward to it and this time get a photo of you and me, you buggered it up last year as you took my camera and didnt hold the button in long enough and it didnt take, i was gutted, but at least when ive met you before ive managed to get an autograph, hug, kiss and given you a kiss, so im not doing bad, so the photo the last thing im likely to get from you, worse luck ha ha ha. sue - london greatest fan

I think Gerry has always been able to travel. I've heard him speak of family vacations in Spain and Jamaica when he was still at home with his Mum, remember his aunt thinking he said he "got lucky?" I'm glad he is getting to spend time doing what he wants to do, and having some time to just relax. I'm sure the entourage is much like Elvis' Memphis Mafia, friends, staff, security, etc. He really can't afford to travel alone anymore. It wouldn't be at all safe for him. He has to have people to arrange his travel now, make reservations, rent cars, etc. He is much to important to travel alone, even if he wanted to. In a way, it's sad that he can't just go off by himself, but I certainly wouldn't want him to. What if something happened to him. I want someone always there to be sure he is safe and taken care of if he gets sick, or needs assistance of any kind, and I am so happy that he can now afford to be taken care of. I love that people are around him to protect him, even if that is really not why they are there, I'm sure they would if need be. I hope he is enjoying his holiday and getting some well deserved rest. The island is NOT private, is an island where the public can go, is a national reserve, has controlled entry but is not private.

Fernando de Noronha is one of the most beautiful beaches in Brazil and the world ... a great place to holiday!

We were all very happy to see how Gerry likes to come to Brazil! Happy New Yeard for all!!

Well, as a fellow Scorpio, we need our alone time. I call it "recharging my batteries". I do hope he'll get some on this vacation, maybe that's why the exclusivity of this island as a vacation spot was chosen. Plus, after a review of the pictures I have to say that the one where he looks like he's scratching his hinny is funny!!

I know he has to be in LA by Thursday so I hope he flies directly there and avoids all the snow in NY this week. Maybe he can get use to the cold a little before returning to his NY home. We have about 6 inches here and it is still falling like crazy. Pretty much for NC. I haven't seen this much snow since 1972 and it's suppose to keep snowing until tomorrow noon, snow and freezing rain starting later today. I'm so snowed in it isn't funny. I don't dare try to drive in this, not even get to my car. Everyone pray for me that we don't have a power outage as this is how I heat my house, and cook, etc. Hope everyone is having a great day. I love that shirt, and yes, we've seen it before somewhere. We were the Rebels in my High School, so naturally I love the shirt. My high school is in the South tho so they have been changed to the Redhawks now. You know how it is in the south, anything even remotely considered to be associated with the Old South has to be done away with. It's total Hog Wash, but that is how it is down here now. I refuse to be anything but a REBEL tho, because it was that for about a hundred years and I think it should be still. There is absolutely nothing racial about the name, never was, so I'm still a REBEL, probably even a real REBEL now that all the hulabaloo has had to go on. I never was before but I think I am now, just because of all the reverse racialism down here. It breaks my heart. I sat on cold hard ground to support the blacks, even turned down my first job offer because it was racially offered to me, and I totally resent all the stuff that goes on about racialism. My parents absolutely refused to allow any of us to use the N word, saying it was illeterate and hurt people's feelings. I was brought up to respect everyone and now I'm considered racist simply because I grew up white in the South. It's totally rediculous. Anyway, I'll get off my soapbox. seen any yet. How did you know he was in LA?
Thank goodness he missed the flooding, and the ice in NYC. He is just lucking up and going from warm place
to warm place. I'm so glad he had fun in Brazil and is going to LA where it is warm.

Sandy, he left Brazil on Sunday, flew into NYC and was there one day and finally got to LA yesterday. The only way we know these things is the Twitter reports of people who see or talk to him and then tell the world.
