  1. Wow, that really is gorgeous, Laura...and sooo very 'Dear Frankie-ish"!!
  2. *raises hand timidly* Umm...is there room for one more? I'm not fast, and Suzie, I may have to hop on your cart to catch my breath now and then, but I'm willing, and I can certainly use the exercise!! ~Alison
  3. Oh wow, Katie...just now saw this thread..haven't had much time to check in here for months...is it too late to send a few pics for this?? If so, no problem, mea culpa...real life has just been occupying most of my time lately! Alison
  4. I was just getting ready to add my two cents' worth, when I realized that Swannie and Lisa had already said everything for me...well, almost everything... In addition, all I really need to remember is that Gerry is a big boy with much more sense than to jump into something that he doesn't think has potential...plus, even if it did turn out to be less than a box office smash, so what? I prefer to give him the benefit of the doubt and wish him the very best, no matter what the outcome is. As far as the naysayers go, this won't be the first time (and most definitely will not be the last!) he's
  5. Wow...WOW, MamaTish! You brought tears to my eyes with that story...that was beautiful, and I know Gerry would be amazed to hear about the effect he had on you. He would be proud too, I think, but mostly amazed, because of how unassuming he is. I can't imagine he ever would've thought the sharing of his experience there in Jerusalem would have had such an effect on anyone, but then, that's a great part of his appeal to us--his lack of pretense and his ability to just be who he is and not have to put on airs. He is just so very genuine! Again, thanks for sharing your thoughts and insights w
  6. Two new pictures? Tell me quick..which ones are you talking about, 'cause I'm too lazy to track them down for myself...long day..so tired..going to bed now..Nite all! Alison ..oh, and yes, Swannie, I am making plans to go to the convention next summer--already paid my deposit! Not sure I could stand to miss it two years in a row!

  8. It's been a while since I've spent much time here in the SC..or anywhere else at GALS...finally getting back up to snuff since my hospital stay in June...which caused me to miss the CONVENTION...(dirty word, dirty word!) I still haven't read all the posts from that week 'cause I know it will just make me sad... Anyhoo, I see many new names around the forum since I've been away...hope all you newbies are feeling welcome and at home here! I'm really enjoying the stories and pictures you've shared of your home re-modeling, Swannie, and your tapestry is gorgeous! Much good luck getting back wi
  9. Hahaaa...that was my exact thought when I first read this article earlier in the year...I had also always heard you got those shots in the arm...nice try, Madonna! I can see how it must have been a surreal experience for Gerry though...even in his wildest dreams he never could've imagined that one day he'd be flashing Madonna!!
  10. Granted, he may have put on a couple of pounds since 300, and especially since he stopped smoking, but even if that's the case, he still looks amazing and continues to carry his BEEF in all the right places!...and as far as the cleanse goes, I was excited to hear that because as long as you use good sense and choose the right one for what you're trying to accomplish, it can do you a lot of good. I avoided gall bladder surgery a couple of years ago by going on a cleanse designed specifically for that purpose and haven't had any further problems since then, so I'm definitely a believer...
  11. That's good, 'cause I know I'll want to watch it again..thanks, Mel!! Show over, and as expected, Gerry was his usual gorgeous, unassuming, charming self, wasn't he?
  12. They say that "What doesn't kill us makes us stronger", so I believe it's true that we are the sum of what we have learned from our past experiences. I'm so glad Gerry chose to learn something valuable, and that he is a better and stronger person because of it...
  13. And kisses? Just stick a fork in me, 'cause I am DONE!
  14. Okay, put me in third, waiting patiently...or HEY, Lugerry...wanna arm wrestle me for first place?? Just kidding... I'll wait my turn... *sigh*
  15. Yes, there is - the true story of the battle!!! And there's not much history of what happened before or after the Battle of Thermopolae! Ooh, don't get me started! Please don't take that the wrong way. I LOVE 300 - it's how I allowed myself to succumb to Gerry. It holds a special place in my heart . . . as a movie. It's not a documentary, though, which it wasn't supposed to be. I said this in the other thread . . . I'm quickly losing respect not only for Hollywood but the minds of our nation. There are very few sequeled (is that a word?) movies that are a success... There is so mu
  16. A similar (and paraphrased!) quote I've always appreciated is, "If you want to see how a man would treat his wife, observe how he treats his mother." That being the case, it would appear that Gerry would make some lucky lady a very good husband one day, if he does ever decide to settle down. As far as a 300 prequel, I'd be a little worried about the toll it might take on him to prepare for that part again, and a sequel? That would be interesting to see just how they'd work him into it, since (as many have noted) he DIED...but in the end, it's all up to Gerry, right? He's a big boy..all gro
  17. ..and mine too, Karen! Lisa, you hit the nail on the head...I love the idea of him being at home with family, relaxing..just being himself and being able to recharge his batteries before he heads back to LA (or NY) to the craziness and non-stop "stuff" that awaits him there. Enjoy it to the fullest, Gerry...you've certainly earned the rest!
  18. Picturing Gerry back at home in the Highlands with his family just does my heart good...I hope he has a wonderful and relaxing visit...
  19. Wow, then I guess I am twice blessed, Alice, since my DH enjoys dancing AND dances well...his dad was a professional dancer, so he grew up with it, and when we started dating I had the chance to learn a lot from him and my future father-in-law. I've missed you all here in the SC...but since it's nearly impossible to catch up when you're as far behind as I am for not being here in weeks, I'll just jump in here and add my two cents worth, based on this thread's topic, then attempt to do a little 'catch up' reading afterwards. Speaking of "the lusty month of May" (from one of my favorite musical

  21. Amy and Swannie..great idea here, and here come the butterflies again! I love writing, and have always thought of myself as a frustrated writer/poet...the feelings are always there, deep and sometimes overwhelming...I sometimes think that I suffer writer's block mainly because my feelings are TOO deep at times, but I'm willing to give it a try, then if it works and I'm able to come up with something I'd dare share, I will; otherwise, it will still be very liberating to at least make the attempt!Phannie

  23. Amy, so sorry to hear you had trouble with your check...I put mine in the mail April 22, using the address provided here on this thread, so hopefully you've received it by now, Susan..but it would be good to know for sure. Thanks so much!
