  1. Yeah, me too! They got slimballs and they are slime balls too! I never liked the title anyway. I think the title of a story says a lot about it. Delene I thought Ryan K was a good friend of Gerry's? Wasn't Gerry a best man at his wedding? Then again MGP was a great movie and should have been promoted more and given a wide release and a name change.
  2. We were watching The Five on Fox News this evening and a segment was done on the Correspondents Dinner. Video from the event spent a great deal of time showing Gerard Butler at the CNN table. The camera person must have been a big fan.
  3. just saw the movie - non-stop action and just plain great movie. Hubby loved it as well. Large theater 3/4 full for 2:00 movie. Congrats to Gerry and everyone else associated with the movie. It is terrific to see a plain old fashioned nail biter. I gripped the arm rests the entire movie.
  4. I agree, bflo. He looks great and more rested then he did during promotion of PFK. This is the only site I go into now for the same reason you listed. Sites that print the bad press, or outlandish rumors are not worth the time. This site has been a terrific place to talk about his greatness, as it should be.
  5. The critics can say all sorts of stupid things - personally I have tried to stay away from the critics ideas of what is a good movie or a talented actor. One thing for sure Gerry is set for the rest of his career and can do whatever film he wants and not worry about box office. Once his films reached the gross earnings plateau of one billion dollars he joined an elite club. A club that will allow him to continue to pick the movies that appeal to him, produce if he wants, or even get into directing.
  6. Gerry was great in Timeline, and since I had read the book ahead of the movie it made it easier to understand what the technical conversations were referring to in the movie and the importance of the guy running down the road and in the hospital at the beginning of the movie. I recommend the book to anyone who likes action adventures and Michael Crichton has always been a favorite author (Andromeda Strain, Jurassic Park, Rising Sun, etc.).
  7. Good Morning first of all. Second, can we start some sort of discussion about how the press, especially the British press, is blasting Gerry for not making mega-box office numbers? Machine Gun Preacher is his finest movie, I think, and the films he has been doing have not been going after big box office but movies that he has wanted to do for a variety of other reasons. What can we do as fans?

  9. Something I have noticed - Playing for Keeps shows it opens today in numerous theaters here in the San Diego area - Fandango and the theaters themselves - but when I go in to Yahoo movies it shows that it doesn't start until Tuesday. That is very strange and could have an impact for those folks thinking it didn't open this weekend.

  11. Just saw the movie and husband and I thought it was great. The interaction between Frosty and Jay was terrific. I have surfed a number of years and the film on surfing was spectacular.
  12. TV commercials for Taken are everywhere and I haven't seen any for Chasing Mavericks. In the past the movies that are average and below get a lot of press. Is it a good sign that there have not been any commercials for Mavericks?
  13. I couldn't envision Gerry starting this movie at this time with OHF filming and Thunder Run and Manhunt coming up....along with promotions for PTF and CM. But I also am waiting to hear confirmation of this rumour since there are so many 'news' sources out in the ether and so little corroboration of facts.
  14. So Mickey would be replacing Oldman? I have always liked Mickey - should be an interesting combination of acting talents -GB and Mickey. The more I think about it the more I like it.
  15. Gerry should continue to play heroes - even in LAC he was a villain we could empathize with. No mass murderers please! There are plenty of great roles that don't involve trying to change Gerry's image.
  16. He takes my breath away when he is clean shaven.
  17. 'Drover' is also a term that has been used here in the U.S. since the early 1800's and ties in with the cattle 'drives' coming out of Mexico and Texas. A more popularly used name for a drover, of course, is cowboy.
  18. I wonder if she will be a love interest for his character as well?
  19. Gerry's boss for Olympus Terrific news! She is a fine actress -as if no one new this!
  20. Al Pacino? Perhaps if he was playing Gerry's dad who turned out to be a bad guy. Can't picture it. The height difference could be problematic as well. Has to be a younger, taller actor OR ACTRESS? Charlize? Uma?
  21. I think Gery Oldman is now attached to Olympus/WHT - someone at Cannes said that and at the time I thought it would be strange for him to be in WHD and MC
