  1. back treading the boards with the wild GBGALS.....love you all

  2. Hello Gorgeous ladies of GB land. WOW, how much have i missed out on??? Will have to take the time to read the threads Sounds like sooo much has been happening. Thinking of you all at the moment, and being blessed and thankful that i call this sisterhood my friends. Take care of all that surround you. As last Saturday showed here in Australia, you just never know how much precious time you have with your loved ones. May be back on the boards soon, i start a new job on Monday , so i may get a little bit more time to myself when i get home in the evenings. On a bummer note, our house was broken into on Monday (yes my birthday!) but things can be replaced, whereas human life can't. Much love to you all from across the seas Ali
  3. My thoughts go out to you all if you are in areas affected by the severe weather in the US. I'm sorry to hear of your ice and snow over there, perhaps we could swap with you for a time. Oz is sweltering in what they are calling a 'once in a century' heat wave. Adelaide, Melbourne and parts of NSW are all bracing themselves for what could be a horrific day fire wise. But then you have the other extreme in QLD ,NT and WA,they are just recovering from flood water due to cyclones Be good to one another, and keep up the love that flows out of this site everyday to all. Must go, have a seminar to attend on how to relate to boys *like i'd need help having 3 of my own!* Love to you all from across the oceans Ali
  4. Yay you go for it Swan, once they hear the talent they'll be hooked. Remember, nothing ventured nothing gained and it is about getting a name out there. Hellooo to gorgeous GALS allover the world. It's been a while, and BOY have i missed you guys. Great to hear from you again Phantom, my love goes out to you,it's been a while since we talked. PM me if you'd like a chat. Is Barb still floating on cloud 9???? It was a meeting meant to be.......now if i can just improve my Scottish accent and somehow snag a part on Burns, all would be sweet *keep dreaming, it's a nice dram..oh i mean dream!* Love to all across the miles. HUGH hugs to those that need them and those that don't (YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!) Must keep in contact more, so i guess i'll see ya around the boards. ALI
  5. To my dear friend Paige, I am so sorry to read about what has happened, it is hard when it is someone that you know, but even harder when it is a friend. Hang in there my girl, hopefully answers will arise soon. Nay, today has been beautiful for the school holidays, but i can see rain on the horizon for the next few days (Oops that would be me thinking about how i can survive with 3 teenagers in the house and still remain sane Sue, those photos of B2 were wonderful, how fast he is growing, and what a handsome young man he will turn out to be. Big hugs to you lovely lady See Cat, Canberra isn't boring, it's people like that lady who make you realise just how insane the public service can be...and who make you laugh at the thought that such people are employed in the first place. More power to you girl friend I got the opportunity to watch Nim's Island with my budding actor of a son the other night , well talk about a riot, fantastic film and it got top marks from Jared. I think i have another Gerry fan in the house, as he also LOVES PS I LOVE YOU too, and i've noticed a few of my other Gerry movies have made a discreet move from my room to the front room. Thank you to HRH Gerry, who seems to have kicked started this once shy child into something he loves, he's already starred in one production here, so lets just see where this leads. Have to go now, as it's way past my bed time. Love to all, and a big hug to all from across the seas Ali
  6. A big HUGH Glorious from Australia, Gosh it seems like forever since i last wrote to you all. Swannie, i'm with ya in the Celiac's, since being diagnosed with Hashimoto's you have to be soo careful in what you introduce into your body.....just hang in there lovely you will get through this. It is school holidays in Canberra at the moment, so it's down time for me....oh but so much to do, and so little time to do it in. one of the things i did promise myself was that i would check up you GALS, there is just so much positive energy spilling from this site, the vibe is TREMENDOUS. BUUUT there is sooo much to catch up on, so please forgive me if i seem a bit thick...... Cat, i'm really sorry to hear about your son't partner, i'm about the same distance from my mum and dad, and it is a good hard drive to get to them, that's why i only see them roughly once a year. It's never a nice thing to happen, and i'm sure that you are their 'rock'at the moment. to you lovely lady. Maybe one day our paths will meet, you never know. To all you beautiful souls out there, love and hugs to all. Have to go, as they are replacing the windows soon, and i have to get the 3 ferals to clean their bedrooms before the workman come Lots of love and hugs to those that need it, ( and to those of you that you know you need it, but just don't want to admit it!) Talk soon, and Much love Ali
  7. Hi all, Just a really quick flyby to see how everyone is in the land of G. I really must get my act together and try to stay up with everyone......too little time so much to read. Barbara, i'm really sorry about the house and the flooding, I hope that it doesn't take too long before things are back to normal. B-elle i'm so glad you enjoyed your vacation, nice time of year too in Europe. All you wonderful GALS take care, it's an honour to call you friends. Must dash, hope to talk on the boards real soon (like maybe when they add a few more hours to the day) Love to all from across the oceans Ali.
  8. My last comment on this subject, Yeah right!!!!!!! Gerry Butler has been raised by his family to be the wonderful man that we see on screen today. At the end of the day, credit where credit is due, if not for this upbringing, he might be totally different, i.e self obsessed, craving the spotlight. It doesn't matter who we are or what we look like, we were all brought to this site by one factor Gerry. Media should never play a part of who you are. Life is so short and so precious, we should revere it and live it to the full. If you don't love yourself and embrace who you are (flaws and all) how can anyone else? Everyone here is a beautiful, wonderful, talented individual, who over the months i have come to know and proudly know as GAL friends. I'll leave you with this thought on Women's Geography. ( I'm sure you've seen it before, but in someways it sums up a woman. This was the nicest one i could find, as it celebrates the more mature woman as well. ) Geography of a Woman: Between 18 and 22, a woman is like Africa, half discovered, half wild, fertile and naturally beautiful. Between 23 and 30, a woman is like Europe, well-developed and open to trade, especially for someone with cash. Between 31 and 35, a woman is like Spain, very hot, relaxed, and convinced of her own beauty. Between 36 and 40, a woman is like Greece, gently aging, but still a warm and desirable place to visit. Between 41 and 50, a woman is like Great Britain.. with a glorious and all conquering past. Between 51 and 60, a woman is like Israel, has been through war and doesn't make the same mistakes twice, takes care of business. Between 61 and 70, a woman is like Canada, self-preserving but open to meeting new people. After 70, a woman becomes like Tibet, wildly beautiful with a mysterious past and the wisdom of ages... only those with an adventurous spirit and a thirst for spiritual knowledge visit her. Love to you all Ali
  9. Good Morning Lovely ladies. Firstly it is a HUGH CONGRATULATIONS to Tracy and her husband, may there be plenty more . Sue, give that husband of yours a big hug from Australia, ths is one of the silver linings in that cloud hanging around. Birthdays are meant to be special, and this one is even more so for you and yours. Love to you Lisa, follow your heart as far as a career move is concerned. I know what it's like to walk into a classroom. You have to mentally put on your riot gear and cut off all feeling for the rest of the world. It is a shame that the students that really, truely want to learn have to be pushed aside and stunted because of a few. Teachers are not valued anymore, they have to split themselves into so many catergories that teaching really falls by the wayside. From personal exlperience I would just like to say that if it wasn't for you guys on the front line of education, then the whole system would fall apart. Be PROUD of who you are and what you've achieved, you deserve SO much more. I'm on school holidays, so i'll just coast for another week until next Monday morning at 8am. to all those that need them going into a new week. Much heartfelt love to you and yours from across the oceans Ali
  10. What about a remake of Highlander???? I would love to see Gerry in the Christopher Lambert role, kilted in one scene, trenchcoat in the next. There is no denying that Gerry's pure Scottish purr would be 1000% better than Mr Lambert's sad attempt. I'd like to see Ewan MacGregor as the Spanish swordsman, the role that suited Sean Connery. Don't know who's play the Kurgan???? any ideas about bad guys???
  11. Swannie, thank you for bringing this to the fore. THis is just my worth. The ramblings of a demented Aussie! Ageism isn't just bound to America. Australian's are buying into cosmetic surgery in a way that is frightening. We are bombarded with images every day that undermine what is the 'norm', just last night on the news there was a complaint about so called 'free' breast implants being offered up on the Gold Coast, again preying on those that are most vunerable, and probably at their lowest ebb as it were, to part with A$12.000 just so that they can fit into this image that is out there. Don't get me started on teeth!!!!!!!!! When is the world going to realise that ageing will always happen. It doesn't matter how much you spruce up the outside, the inside is still failing at the same rate. At some stage parts wear out and unless you have boundless amounts of the green stuff to repair it or replace it, (more power to you if you do by the way!) eventually the machine that is the human body falls apart. I am by no means what they would call thin, I have what my husband calls 'Hobbit genes' which you can guess means that i just scrape by 5ft or 157 cm in height, and i am what you might call dumpy in apperance. I'm happy with who i am, i'll never be an A list star, or have my image plastered onto magazines all over the world, but at least i know that when i'm here talking to you guys,i never get judged or ridiculed. I am accepted for who i am and loved for it. People have no right to judge a person just because they don't fall into a certain 'looks' category. As said before, there is usually a very good reason as to why that person is as they are. I don't care if Gerry's fan base goes in age from 6 to 600! From talking to people here, it is very reassuring to know that the support and love flows to everyone, there is no exclusion and it doesn't matter where you come from or what you look like, you are given equal footing. It is a shame that some parts of our society choose to dump you into the waste after a certain age. In years to come, the knowledge base that is our 40 somethings will be sadly missed, because it is this demographic that still holds the world together...........they are the key to how things happen and morality in general. Who will be there when the baby boomers are not able to uphold the values of society? So be proud of what you have achieved, even if you don't look like a super model, or fall into a certain category. I for one am proud to know you in all your shapes and sizes. I love you guys like family no matter what. As i said at the beginning, these are just my ramblings. Love to you all Ali
  12. Well good morning to you wherever you may be around the world. It's another great day here in Oz. Winter has hit the mountains behind us, and there is a slight dusting of snow on the Brindabellas. Sue, it's great to hear your Dan is responding to the medication, keep positive like you always do....love you girl. Sorsha, shingles is never brilliant no matter what age you contract it. Keep your spirits up and try to ignore the itches Anna, what has this world come to when we rely on credit soooo much. I think i liked the old ways when bartering was the go, (Ok, i can see the commotion now as all the GALS figure out what they have to barter for Gerry ) But seriously credit fraud is one of the worlds leading troubles today, we just put our faith in that little piece of plastic and hope that all will turn out well. Well off to do the exciting stuff like clean out the fridge, and plow through the mountain of washing that the clan produces for a week. My love to you all wherever you may be Take care of yourselves , and i'm sending the love over the ocean to you Ali
  13. to all you wonderful people, it has been a while since i last posted. Cassie, much love to you and positive thoughts for that baby. I've never had my credit card stolen, but i have been the victim of identity theft. A few years ago, i had to constables turn up at my gate and start asking my all sorts of questions......they would never tell me what it was in relation to, but someone had taken my name, address and what they thought was my birthdate and failed to turn up to a court hearing. Needless to say it was a bit scary being almost put into a paddy waggon and taken downtown to the courthouse. It was only because my date of birth didn't match the information that they had, that the 2 policemen went back and investigated further. Today i have 2 identities on the police data base, one is 'Me" and the other one seems to be my alter ego with the wrong date of birth. It just goes to show how easy it can be to obtain details. Anna my thoughts are with you. On a bit of a downer, i went to the ENT specialist yesterday, only to be informed that i have Hashimoto's , a condition where my own body attacks my thyroid gland. There seems to be no cure for it, and over time i'll have to go onto medication, but at the end of the day i'm still a lot better off than some. Oh well, so little time, so much to do......... To those of you that need it and even one to all those that don't admit that they need it. Love to all from across the oceans Ali
  14. to all you wonderful people, It seems like years since i've posted, but i've been flat out at work and trying to get my wayward family in line. Again this is just another really short drive through to see how things are going, and to keep my finger on the pulse of this place. Big to all who need it and even those who don't (We all need a kiss somewhere along our day!) Sorry it's not from GB, but you can always dream gals. Promise i'll catch up soon. I'd love to know how everyone is. G'day to all new members, you've come to the right place to meet a wonderful bunch of people. Got to fly now as i've a course to go to. Love to you and yours wherever you maybe in the world. Ali
  15. Sam, you are one talented individual. you've managed to capture Gerry perfectly. Love to you and yours Wolfie
