  1. Emma Booth says Gerard Butler is easy on the eye and cheekyThe 31-year-old Aussie actor, who has forged a name for herself in Hollywood having worked with the likes of Jason Statham in 2013’s Parker, has confirmed that Butler not only has the good looks but the personality to match. Booth told Confidential at the Sydney premiere of Game of Thrones last night that Butler is “lovely.” “He’s pretty cute and it’s also his personality, he’s very cheeky,” Booth said. Booth, who has been based in Los Angeles for two years, is working with Butler on the film Gods of Egypt which is shooting at Fox Studios in Sydney. The fantasy film is set to be released in 2016 and also stars Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, who Booth supported at the Thrones premiere, and Geoffrey Rush. She said shooting for the film has been “phenomenal”. “There’s a lot of blue screen, which has been interesting.” “I am working with some of the most phenomenal actors in the world, and playing an incredible character,” she said. The AACTA Award winner added that she “can’t breathe very well in her costume” with a laugh. The film follows a thief and a god going on an adventure throughout Egypt. Booth, who has starred in Underbelly: The Golden Mile in 2010, first made her mark on the acting scene after the Aussie film Clubland — released in 2007 — was showcased at Sundance film festival. She has also played feminist Germaine Greer in the yet-to-be released film Hippie Hippie Shake with Sienna Miller in 2009. Source
  2. Gerard Butler's Smile is Irresistible at the Ellery Fashion Show Gerard Butler‘s smile is swoon worthy at the Ellery show during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia 2014 held at Bondi Icebergs Dining Room on Monday (April 7) in Sydney, Australia. The 44-year-old actor sat in the front row with some female attendees, who he shares many laughs with! Looks like Gerard had a blast at the show. Late last week, Gerard stepped out for lunch with a pal at North Bondi Fish restaurant where he showed off her large muscles in a tight t-shirt. Source
  3. Fashion Week Improved Immeasurably By The Presence Of Gerard Butler Emanating a gruff, laid back vibe diametrically opposed to the dainty front row denizens typical of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia, Scottish actor and apparent women's wear enthusiast Gerard Butler made a surprise appearance at Sydney label Ellery's presentation at Bondi Icebergs in Sydney today. The actor synonymous with mandal early-adopter King Leonidas in Zack Snyder's 300 is currently in Sydney to shoot Gods Of Egypt opposite Game Of Thrones actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Geoffrey Rush and Melbourne model Abbey Lee Kershaw, who was also in attendance. 8. Exclusive : 10 Things to Know about the Point Break remake Instead of a direct sequel to the ‘90s classic (“Point Break : Indo”, as it was then called, would’ve starred Cam Gigandet as a Johnny Utah-type caught up with bad-boy Surfers in South Africa), someone’s dusty crystal ball informed Hollywood that better idea would be to do-over the Keanu Reeves-Patrick Swayze flick “Point Break”. And while you were diverted by your own loud groans and unpleasant tummy rumbles (“There can be only one Pappas – Gary Busey”, someone who said to have yelled from the top of the Hollywood sign, where they consequently decided taking a nosedive off it, instead of having to sit through a Busey-less remake, was the better way to go), director Ericson Core set out to convince Gerard Butler and Luke Bracey that they were the best man to fill the board shorts of today’s incarnations of Bodhi and Utah. Dude. While washboard stomachs are being oiled, Alcon Entertainment and scribe Kurt immer are putting the finishing touches to the shooting script. What we know already is that the film won’t be – like the original – so much set in the world of surfing, as it will extreme sports (a’la “xXx”), but how else will the movie differ from Kathryn Bigelow’s original? I can tell you already, it’s not going to differ too much – the main and secondary characters remain the same, their back stories essentially remain the same, the tone remains the same, and yes, Utah will forget about Pappas again. Poor Pappas. So, to these ten things….. I could merely write “It’s unnecessary” 10 different ways, but I won’t. Here’s a small batch of tidbits about the new movie, pointing out the film’s very subtle differences to its 1991 predecessor. 1. Lot of the film is set in Asota, situated in the Italian Alps; known for it’s awesome SNOWY ‘mountains’ (yep, these guys aren’t so much into water activities as they are…this stuff). 2. Johnny Utah – or ‘Johnny Utah Brigham’ – is a YouTube sensation. A big bike and snow rider sensation from way back he left the extreme sports game about five years back after a kid on his line got killed riding a mountain (which he was somewhat responsible for) and his sponsors didn’t want to support him anymore. Now, he stays off the alps. 3. Utah befriends Bodhi and his crew on the water – as per the first film – where he catches their eye by way of some trendy water tricks. They’re confused, of course, why a “mountain rider” would even be on the water in the first place (again, a reminder that these guys are more about surfing mountains than surfing waves) 4. Utah’s cover? Um… He spruiks sports drinks. Of course. Bodhi, being a nice guy, doesn’t judge him though. 5. Bodhi still has his ‘big wave’-like dream – in this case, ‘the eight’ essentially a chain of the biggest and baddest things for extreme sportsman to do. These guys all have a death wish, of course, and aren’t afraid to cop out young if it means experiencing the ultimate thrill. And when does it all end? (as one character asks in the film) It doesn’t. 6. All of Bodhi’s bank robbers troupe – Grommet, Roach etc – are back. And yes, most are stick pricks. Most of them refer to Utah as “U-Tube”. 7. With Bodhi’s crew, Utah is talked into riding one scary-arse mountain – just as the storm is approaching, of course. After what happened on his last mountain ride, Utah is naturally dripping with sweat about getting back on a ‘line’. I’m thinking, with a slick cinematographer at the helm, these scenes could look, er, fully sick. 8. Pascal Al Fariq, a millionaire playboy, is kicking about with Bodhi and his band of followers. He buys his way into groups, onto mountains and so on. The rich kid, who owns race horses and whose father is some sort of Larry Ellison-type, has paid for the privilege of kicking around with Bodhi and the guys, and partaking in the same mountain rides, and so on Pascal essentially picks up the bill for everything too; still, none of Bodhi’s troupe has much respect for the kid. 9. There are lots of parties. Lots of boat rages. Lots of hot German chicks. A love interest for Bodhi – of course. And yes, she’s torn between right and wrong herself. Mountain-chasing life is one big party. 10. In addition to the other fun stuff he partakes in with the crims, Utah is slowly seduced by the thrill of doing ‘The Eight’, and, like in the original, becomes somewhat of a best bud to the charming, fearless Bodhi. What I want to know… who is playing Pappas!? Will it be good? Anyone’s guess! We’ll find out in 2015. Source
  9. Here comes the Hollywood star! Gerard Butler gatecrashes delighted bride-to-be's bachelorette party on Sydney Harbour In Gallery HERE Since Gerard Butler arrived in Sydney two weeks ago he has been snapped around the city with his arms around a variety of adoring female fans. But the 44-year-old Hollywood heartthrob took it to the next level on the weekend when he crashed a hen’s party, much to the delight of the bride-to-be. Dragana Ogorelica, a close friend of the bride, says they got ‘the shock of our lives’ when they saw the 300 star standing on the boat they hired for the day. When the girls arrived at the dock, they expected a fun day out on Sydney Harbour, but the manager of the boat hire company said he had a surprise waiting for them. ‘We thought it was a stripper, because it was a hen’s party. But then we saw [Gerard] standing on the boat. We all just started screaming,’ said Dragana. She reported that the actor called down to the girls: ‘Is this a hen’s party? Can I join? We’re going to dance a little bit, drink a little bit.’ Gerard Butler then told his management they could leave because he was going to stay and party with the girls. The actor gave the bride-to-be a long hug, complimented her, and said her future husband was ‘a really lucky guy, whoever he is.’ Dragana said that the bride, Maja Nogic, who is a big fan of the actor, was ecstatic. As Gerard was hugging Maja, her groom was on his buck’s weekend. The girls texted him to say they had met the star. He replied: ‘That’s it, I’m going to go and find Jennifer Hawkins.’ He then told his fiancée that he would understand if she ran off with Butler. The group were enamored of the Scottish star, who Dragana said was ‘so nice and so relaxed. We all loved him.’ ‘His accent, oh my goodness, it was so beautiful. You couldn’t understand him half the time, but you didn’t care because it was just gorgeous.’ The 44-year-old actor, who has previously been romantically linked to Jennifer Aniston, Naomi Campbell, and Cameron Diaz, was happy to pose for photos with the group. He even got them to take one doing his ‘signature pose’ - placing their right hands above their eyes and looking as if they’re searching the skies for UFOs. The actor said this was a photo he took with people all over the world. Dragana said the chance encounter with the actor ‘started our day amazingly.’ The star is currently in Sydney as he prepares to play Set, the ancient Egyptian god of chaos and violence in the film Gods of Egypt, which also stars Geoffrey Rush and Game of Thrones star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau. He had hired the boat on Friday morning to look at some properties on Rushcutter’s Bay. It is set to be a big year for Butler, who will also be filming a Point Break remake. He is slated to play Bodhi, the character played by Patrick Swayze in the 1991 original. Butler revealed recently that the stunts in Point Break would be too dangerous even for professional stuntmen. Producers have hired the world’s best BASE-jumpers and big-wave riders, such as Jeb Corliss, who jumped off the Eiffel Tower, and Garrett McNamara, who holds the record for the largest wave ever surfed – a 78-foot tall break off the coast of Portugal. Butler is a bit of a daredevil himself and will be working on his free climbing and surfing skills in preparation for the film. ‘I don’t know yet whether I will be jumping out of aeroplanes. I want to. I would love to,’ Butler told news.com. ‘But BASE jumping, I don’t think they will let me do. And squirrelling [jumping from a plane in wingsuit] — that’s probably a bit much.’ Source

  13. Quiet on the set ... magic at work on Gods of Egypt Australian director Alex Proyas, who has began making his new film Gods Of Egypt at Fox Studios. IT could very well be the biggest film ever made in Australia. On the same scale as Star Wars and Indiana Jones, filmmaker Alex Proyas is all too aware of what he's about to undertake with Gods Of Egypt. "With all of my other films I've never done publicity this early before, I've never seen the point," he told Confidential. "But with this ... the scale is so big, it excites me. I want to talk about what we're doing here." Confidential caught up with the acclaimed director on set at Sydney's Fox Studios, where the production offices for Proyas' multi-million dollar blockbuster are based. He had been looking at concept designs for what he said would be his most complicated film yet, which is a big call for the visionary who brought us The Crow, Dark City, and I, Robot. The Egyptian-born director, who calls Sydney home, has enlisted an A-list cast that includes Gerard Butler, Geoffrey Rush, Brenton Thwaites and Game Of Thrones star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau to bring his take on mythological Egypt to life. "We're calling it 'Planet Egypt' at the moment because the world is so unlike anything seen before," he explained. "It's not historical, but it does conform to the mythology as you know it. As a filmmaker you're a kid that has never grown up: you have to be to do this job. This is the world of Gods and human intermingled." It was clearly enough to entice Oscar-winner Rush, who described Proyas as a gushing "fanboy" when it comes to Egyptian mythology. Rush will play Sun God, Ra, in the epic and spent the past week getting decked out in an elaborate costume as part of the pre-production process. "I've been getting covered in plaster of Paris," Rush said. "You've just got to make sure you hold your breath for an illegally long amount of time so they can get the shape of the head right. "I'm hoping that they'll be making some ridiculously fantastic Egyptian hat since I am playing a God, you know." Rush said the experience has been "very collaborative" and that he is excited to see what Proyas will pull off behind the camera as a "technical expert". "It's one of my favourite parts of the process," he smiled. "It's so much fun initially working with the hair and make-up and costume people on how we are going to create the look and the silhouette of this character because at the same time you don't want it to look like anything else you've seen on screen before."
