I remember being in love with him when I was 10 years old...I grew up watching Ghost and Dirty Dancing. I wasn't really surprised by the news but it's very sad.

:-( Patrick Swayze Dies At 57 FIRST PUBLISHED: June 24, 2009 5:32 PM EDT LAST UPDATED: September 14, 2009 8:16 PM EDT LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- After a long battle with cancer, actor Patrick Swayze has died, Access Hollywood has learned. Swayze was 57. A publicist for the actor confirmed the news to Access Hollywood on Monday. The actor was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer in January 2008 and underwent chemotherapy, but went on with his work, taking on a grueling schedule to play FBI agent Charles Barker in A&E drama "The Beast" - the series was canceled in June 2009. Swayze participated in the "Stand Up To Cancer" telecast in September 2008, telling audiences, "I dream that the word 'cure' will no longer be followed by the words, 'It's impossible.'" In January 2009, despite waging a brave battle against the disease, he told Barbara Walters in an ABC interview that he had "a lot of fear." "It tests everything I believe in," he said. "I like to believe that I've got a lot of guardian warriors sittin' on my shoulder." And in February, Atria Books announced that Patrick would be penning a memoir with the help of wife Lisa Niemi, detailing everything from his early days to his "brave fight" against cancer. It is unknown if the book has been finished. In March, he responded to rumors that his health was failing with the news that he had started a new chemotherapy and called himself "one of the lucky ones" who was responding to the treatment. Swayze was born on August 18, 1952, in Houston, Texas, and was best known for his leading roles in film hits, such as "Dirty Dancing" and "Ghost," for which he was nominated for a Golden Globe. The actor trained as a dancer at the Harkness Ballet and Joffrey Ballet schools before entering the worlds of Broadway, television and film, an experience that served him well in his breakthrough role as a dance instructor in "Dirty Dancing," where he co-starred alongside Jennifer Grey. His biggest hit was 1990's "Ghost," with Demi Moore and Whoopi Goldberg, which earned over $200 million at the box office. In 1991, he scored another hit with action film "Point Break" and was named People magazine's "Sexiest Man Alive." His final role came in 2009 in the straight-to-DVD film "Powder Blue," in which he played an aging rock star alongside Jessica Biel, Forest Whitaker and his younger brother, Don Swayze. http://www.accesshollywood.com/_article_19658

I read on mtv.com Kanye West was asked to leave the show shortly afterwards; apparently he's done something like that before. It was kind of Beyonce to call her up to the stage...she's always seemed like a gracious person to me. I haven't watched the VMA's in years. I usually watch live performances of my favorite bands and artists on youtube, but yeah I watched this year to see the New Moon trailer and Gerry. Nah, it's just not your taste.
-
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. lol Those British guys...
-
I loved Gerry's intro, and Muse's performance was sweet.
-
Yeah, you're right Gerry is one row behind them. I don't have a magnifying glass but it does look like he's in seat 3. Katy Perry is on the end and it looks like there is one seat between them.
-
I didn't know Gerry was going to this. From the picture he looks he's seated right behind Rob Pattinson and Kristen Stewart....I love MTV right now. lol

She's a pretty woman, but I'm not liking the dress. -
This amused me and I thought I would share. I'd like to add a couple more things to this list...haha. 15 Things You Should Never Say to a Woman Jan 23rd 2009 By Emily McCombs "Can I kiss you?" These words may sound sweet, but most women say the phrase is actually a bad idea. It's no secret that men and women communicate differently. What that means for men is that every once in awhile we accidentally wander into a conversational minefield and find ourselves blown to bits before we even realize what we said wrong. To help you (and us) out, we asked real live women to put together a cheat sheet of verboten phrases and explanations so that you never again end up on the couch over a phrase as seemingly innocuous as "You look fine." (Hint: She wants to look better than "fine.") 15. What did you do to your hair? If you're asking because you don't like it, it's too late. And if you're asking because you really can't tell, pay more attention! 14. Why aren't you married? There is no right answer to this question. Either nobody's asked us, or we just don't want to be. Either way, is it any of your business? 13. You're being irrational. To a woman, words like "irrational" and "emotional" are loaded with double meanings. You're better off choosing an adjective not loaded with sexist tripwires. 12. Your best friend is really hot. We know she's hot, but telling us you think so is the quickest way to never see her again. 11. Can I kiss you? Don't suck all the spontaneity out of the moment by asking, just go for it! If we're not into it, we'll let you know. 10. You aren't one of those feminists, are you? You aren't one of those guys who enjoys sleeping on the couch, are you? 9. You're cute when you're mad. You are not cute when you are being patronizing! 8. That's not the way my ex did it. You're better off just avoiding the topic of ex-girlfriends in general, unless accompanied by phrases like "vastly inferior to my current girlfriend." 7. So how old are you? Old enough to know not to ask rude questions. 6. You sound just like your mother. Are you insulting us, or our mothers? Both? Oh, it's on. 5. Smile. There is nothing more infuriating than being told to "Smile" when you don't feel like it.. Aren't we allowed to have a bad day? 4. You sure you wanna eat that? If she wasn't sure, she wouldn't have ordered it. And are you sure you want to question her diet, Mr. Nacho, Wings and Beer Belly? 3. The "B" word, ever. Calling a woman a "b****" (or worse) in any context is just not OK. We will flip out. 2. When are you due? Unless her belly is indisputably housing a baby, never assume a woman is pregnant. We will, however, accept offers of seats even if we're just bloated. 1. Is it that time of the month? Blaming a woman's anger on her period is the quickest way to ensure her rage will now be focused on you. It doesn't matter if she blows up at you like clockwork every 28 days -- just don't say it. http://www.asylum.com/2009/01/23/15-things...4513x1201169198

Really? He's been everywhere....so I'm amazed I actually visted a city before he did. lol
-
I had to work so I didn't get to watch until I got home but I cried during a couple parts. I can't imagine what it must have been like to be there.
-
I thought so too. Actually when he started speaking, I didn't catch everything he said and it reminded me when I watched his older interviews when his accent was thicker and I had trouble understanding because he spoke so fast. lol
-
He looks like classic old Hollywood tonight...everyone does, actually...I'm used to seeing at least a couple hideous dresses at these things. lol
-
Thanks for posting. I don't remember the last time I saw him clean shaven. lol He looks good.
-
The blonde girl in the first pic looks like the girl from Moonlight. Gerry and Eva Mendes are always cute together.
-
Wow...that is fantastic! You are very talented.
-
Happy Birthday, Gerry! I hope you get a chance to take time out for yourself, and enjoy your day with family and friends. Have a great year! Luv ya, Janine

Mother and Brother of Jennifer Hudson Are Killed in Shooting
Janine replied to Janine's topic in Much Ado About Nothing...
Yeah, I feel so bad for her and the family. -
Mother and Brother of Jennifer Hudson Are Killed in Shooting (Oct. 24) -- The publicist for Jennifer Hudson has confirmed that the singer's mother and brother are dead after a fatal shooting in Chicago. "We can confirm that there is an ongoing investigation concerning the deaths of Jennifer Hudson's mother, Darnell Donerson, and her brother, Jason Hudson," Hudson's personal publicist, Lisa Kasteler, said in a statement. "No further comment will be made and the family has asked that their privacy be respected at this difficult time." TMZ first reported that law enforcement sources and neighbors said that Hudson's mother and brother were the victims of a double shooting. Police spokeswoman Monique Bond said the deaths appeared to be the result of domestic abuse. Deputy Chief Joseph Patterson said a family member entered the home around 3 p.m. Friday, found a woman shot on the living room floor and left to notify authorities. Responding officers found a man shot in the bedroom, Patterson said. There was no sign of forced entry. Police tape blocked access to the large, white house, where a crowd gathered outside. Authorities issued an Amber Alert for 7-year-old Julian King, and were seeking a 1994 white Chevrolet Suburban. The child was the grandson of the female victim, Patterson said. The alert said the child was possibly abducted, and could be accompanied by a man named William Balfour — considered armed and dangerous — who was a suspect in the double homicide investigation. Records with the Illinois Department of Corrections show Balfour, 27, who has not been charged with a crime, is on parole and spent nearly seven years in prison for attempted murder, vehicular hijacking and possessing a stolen vehicle. The two could also be in a teal or green Chrysler Concord with a temporary license plate, a left front headlight hanging out and scratches on the left side of the vehicle, police said. The tragedy comes as Hudson, who grew up in Chicago, continues to reach new heights in her career. Her song "Spotlight" is No. 1 on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop charts and her recently released, self-tiled album debut and has been a top seller. She was featured in this year's blockbuster "Sex and the City" and is also starring in hit movie "The Secret Life of Bees." She won an Academy Award for best supporting actress in 2007 for her role in "Dreamgirls." In an interview last year with Vogue, Hudson credited her mother with encouraging her to audition for "American Idol," which launched her career. The singer, whose father died when she was a teenager, described herself as very close to her family. In a recent AP interview she said her family, which includes older siblings Julia and Jason, helped keep her grounded. "My faith in God and my family, they're very realistic and very normal, they're not into the whole limelight kind of thing, so when I go home to Chicago that's just another place that's home," she said. "I stand in line with everybody else, or, when I go home to my mom I'm just Jennifer, (so she says), 'You get up and you take care of your own stuff.' And I love that; I don't like when people tell you everything you want to hear, I want to hear the truth, you know what I mean." Hudson recently announced her engagement to David Otunga, best known for his stint on VH1's reality show "I Love New York." Hudson's representatives would not disclose her whereabouts Friday. She had been scheduled to appear Monday in Los Angeles to collect an ensemble cast honor at the Hollywood Awards for "The Secret Life of Bees" with co-stars including Alicia Keys, Queen Latifah and Dakota Fanning. 2008-10-24 18:28:23 http://www.popeater.com/music/article/cops...2111x1200696840

I like how there is all this information out there trying to tell me what I should think of Gerry when I figured that out on my own 4 years ago. When I first heard of him he hardly had any press. The only information there was were from fans, and interviews; he didn't have a publicist at the time so no one could argue the point he was being told what to say to make him look good (not that I think that happens now). Like anyone else he's imperfect, but I do think he's a good guy, and one thing that saddens me about him becoming more known is people will see the negative press, and may base their opinion of him entirely on that.

It doesn't matter to me which role Gerry plays, but I do think the vigilante sounds like the more interesting and challenging role.
