I remember being in love with him when I was 10 years old...I grew up watching Ghost and Dirty Dancing. I wasn't really surprised by the news but it's very sad.

Swayze was 57. A publicist for the actor confirmed the news to Access Hollywood on Monday. The actor was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer in January 2008 and underwent chemotherapy, but went on with his work, taking on a grueling schedule to play FBI agent Charles Barker in A&E drama "The Beast" - the series was canceled in June 2009. Swayze participated in the "Stand Up To Cancer" telecast in September 2008, telling audiences, "I dream that the word 'cure' will no longer be followed by the words, 'It's impossible.'" In January 2009, despite waging a brave battle against the disease, he told Barbara Walters in an ABC interview that he had "a lot of fear." "It tests everything I believe in," he said. "I like to believe that I've got a lot of guardian warriors sittin' on my shoulder." And in February, Atria Books announced that Patrick would be penning a memoir with the help of wife Lisa Niemi, detailing everything from his early days to his "brave fight" against cancer. It is unknown if the book has been finished. In March, he responded to rumors that his health was failing with the news that he had started a new chemotherapy and called himself "one of the lucky ones" who was responding to the treatment. Swayze was born on August 18, 1952, in Houston, Texas, and was best known for his leading roles in film hits, such as "Dirty Dancing" and "Ghost," for which he was nominated for a Golden Globe. The actor trained as a dancer at the Harkness Ballet and Joffrey Ballet schools before entering the worlds of Broadway, television and film, an experience that served him well in his breakthrough role as a dance instructor in "Dirty Dancing," where he co-starred alongside Jennifer Grey. His biggest hit was 1990's "Ghost," with Demi Moore and Whoopi Goldberg, which earned over $200 million at the box office. In 1991, he scored another hit with action film "Point Break" and was named People magazine's "Sexiest Man Alive." I read on mtv.com Kanye West was asked to leave the show shortly afterwards; apparently he's done something like that before. It was kind of Beyonce to call her up to the stage...she's always seemed like a gracious person to me. I haven't watched the VMA's in years. I usually watch live performances of my favorite bands and artists on youtube, but yeah I watched this year to see the New Moon trailer and Gerry. Nah, it's just not your taste.

I had to work so I didn't get to watch until I got home but I cried during a couple parts. I can't imagine what it must have been like to be there.

I thought so too. Actually when he started speaking, I didn't catch everything he said and it reminded me when I watched his older interviews when his accent was thicker and I had trouble understanding because he spoke so fast. lol

He looks like classic old Hollywood tonight...everyone does, actually...I'm used to seeing at least a couple hideous dresses at these things. lol

Mother and Brother of Jennifer Hudson Are Killed in Shooting (Oct. 24) -- The publicist for Jennifer Hudson has confirmed that the singer's mother and brother are dead after a fatal shooting in Chicago. "We can confirm that there is an ongoing investigation concerning the deaths of Jennifer Hudson's mother, Darnell Donerson, and her brother, Jason Hudson," Hudson's personal publicist, Lisa Kasteler, said in a statement. "No further comment will be made and the family has asked that their privacy be respected at this difficult time." TMZ first reported that law enforcement sources and neighbors said that Hudson's mother and brother were the victims of a double shooting. Police spokeswoman Monique Bond said the deaths appeared to be the result of domestic abuse. Deputy Chief Joseph Patterson said a family member entered the home around 3 p.m. Friday, found a woman shot on the living room floor and left to notify authorities. Responding officers found a man shot in the bedroom, Patterson said. There was no sign of forced entry. Police tape blocked access to the large, white house, where a crowd gathered outside. Authorities issued an Amber Alert for 7-year-old Julian King, and were seeking a 1994 white Chevrolet Suburban. The child was the grandson of the female victim, Patterson said. The alert said the child was possibly abducted, and could be accompanied by a man named William Balfour — considered armed and dangerous — who was a suspect in the double homicide investigation. Records with the Illinois Department of Corrections show Balfour, 27, who has not been charged with a crime, is on parole and spent nearly seven years in prison for attempted murder, vehicular hijacking and possessing a stolen vehicle. The two could also be in a teal or green Chrysler Concord with a temporary license plate, a left front headlight hanging out and scratches on the left side of the vehicle, police said. The tragedy comes as Hudson, who grew up in Chicago, continues to reach new heights in her career. I like how there is all this information out there trying to tell me what I should think of Gerry when I figured that out on my own 4 years ago. When I first heard of him he hardly had any press. The only information there was were from fans, and interviews; he didn't have a publicist at the time so no one could argue the point he was being told what to say to make him look good (not that I think that happens now). Like anyone else he's imperfect, but I do think he's a good guy, and one thing that saddens me about him becoming more known is people will see the negative press, and may base their opinion of him entirely on that.

It doesn't matter to me which role Gerry plays, but I do think the vigilante sounds like the more interesting and challenging role.

I went looking for this magazine Saturday, but they still had the October issue at Borders.
