Trixie Posted March 30, 2007 Author Report Share Posted March 30, 2007 I don't want to sound like a know-it-all, I'm sure there are others who know about airlines in general, but I just want to share my knowledge of Vegas flights. I 've been frequently flying back and forth from Chicago/Milwaukee to Vegas for over 15 years and I caution you if you're waiting for rates to drop. I really don't think they will. Spring break fares aren't related to those in June. The airlines sell a certain number of seats at certain prices starting with the lowest. When those sell out the fares get higher. The only time they will drop is if the planes are not filling up. This is my biggest caution. Flights from Chicago and Milwaukee to Vegas almost always fill up. In the past 10 years of flying back and forth (I lived there for a while too) I had maybe 4 flights that weren't at least 95% full. Fares may of course go down, but I think the airlines are more likely to cancel flights and combine them then lower fares (this has happened to me many times too) Okay service announcement over. Feel free to tell me to shut up And an afterthought question: Trixie does your hubby work for an airline? I'm half remembering this. Is that how you can fly stand by? I found out I was allergic to something in the powder that they packaged at the factory I got the new job at and since it is floating around the whole place I could not work there anymore. I was down for a couple days with swollen eyes but I am better now and I was just hired this afternoon at one of the Jewel/Osco's that is about 15 minutes from Morris. I will be working in the bakery. I am really excited about this!! I like to bake and cook and there is a chance I may be able to go to cake decorating classes. PatK congrats on the success of the play!!!! Trix I love going to the Aquarium!!! I am going to have to go and check out the forum Dawn was talking about! It sounds like a blast!!! I don't think I have laughed so hard at a movie in a very long time. Them together was great comedy. It still floors me that John Heder is the same religion as I am, and that he only made $1000 for playing the role of Napoleon Dynamite. Who'da thunk it. Anyhoo...2 thumbs up on this one. Congrats Kelly on the new job. Does this mean we can have ANY Gerry pic put on a cake since you are working there????? Must go and visit the Gutter Gals thread soon. Everyone is welcome and fun is had by all. Especially in the Gutter SC (support center). From what I read here you are all Gutter GALS but you are just on the self modicating side of the site. I see Marissa here and I honestly think this is the only area in the fresh air that she regularly haunts, so it is definitely got a pervy side. I'm SOOOO excited!!!! MARISSA: I'm a St. Louis girl but born and raised in Chicago, and my husband and I are trying to move up to Chicago this summer.... but the hubby has season tickets so we are going to be AT the Cards Home Opener tomorrow!!! but...you will always find me at those Cubs-Cards games with my Cubs hat on Hmmm, that makes me wonder if Gerry cares about American sports at all? (My sis and family live in Seattle, but his dad lives in Gurnee) Last I heard he was at Condell hospital in Libertyville, but trying to get him moved to Lake Forest. When I got hooked on the Gerry juice I discovered that I had already seen a good number of his films but did not know who he was. Now I own just about all of his movies and a couple of his UK tv series. Like PatK (Scorpio613) said we are a fun bunch. DawnS I am sorry to hear about your BIL's father. Was he able to get the shot that they can give right after a stroke happens?? I can not remember what it is called but I have heard it works miracles. I will pray for him. I am huge BONJOVI fan and would LOVE....LOVE....LOVE to be able to get up to Milwaukee for the concert but I don't think it will happen. I have two vacations scheduled for June and July so I don't think I will be able to make it. Hopefully they will ad Chicago to their tour this year!!! Miklyn I heard a commercial for the Suprise Party business today and I immediately thought of you!!! I'm sorry you didn't do that well at your party last night, but it sounds like you had a good time and that takes alittle sting out of not doing that well. Life has been crazy as usual. Hope all you gals are doing great, and I'll try to check in more often. BTW, I'm sooooo flippin' jealous of all you girls going to Vegas for the convention. Trust me, I would be there with bells on, but June 9th just happens to be my daughter, Hollyn's birthday. Since she'll be turning 6, I'm pretty sure she wouldn't understand mommy skipping out on her birthday. So, maybe next year. Oh yeah, keep me in your prayers on Monday please. I'm going to my neurologist to see what he thinks about more brain surgery to get the rest of my tumor out once and for all. I don't give a crap anymore if it means losing my peripheral vision. I'm tired of having seizures all of the time and worrying constantly about whether it's growing or going to kill me before I'm 40 years old. I just want it out of my head!! He offered up a chemotherapy pill called Temodar when I met with him after my MRI in October. I just don't even want to jack with it. Anyway, it's late, and I'm tired. I am trying to find a song to do the video to for the video contest. I found one but it is really fast and I don't know how confident I feel about using it but it think it would be pretty good. I did not go to Glasgow last year because it was the same weekend as my son's 9th b-day. Like you, it would be hard to explain Mommy taking off to Scotland instead of being with him on his b-day.
