Swansong
Just a thought, but with so much going on.... maybe it would be great to send every single GALS member an email about this wonderful opportunity to COMMUNICATE with Gerry. If members knew these notes and gifts WILL be received by Gerry, and not just delivered to some warehouse, I think many fans would JUMP at the chance to participate! To all you new members: Last year we did a similar fund raiser for the Vegas con, and there is even a note from Tonya and Gerry, thanking us for the gifts and notes, which Gerry DID receive personally: Thank you from Gerry and Tonya Come on fans.... let him know how you feel and how proud you are of his success! heISmyGspot
Very cool! I'm sure Gerry would love another man purse. Can our personal message include our phone numbers? hehe Sure, why not... maybe instead of a Thank You note, he'll call to say thanks! Hey, ya never know! :laugh4: We were allowed to include "personal information" in our notes last year. I know I did and I'll be doing it again. (He obviously lost my number last time ... lol) I don't see any harm in extending invitations for communication as long as they are respectful and don't contain pornographic material. Come on people! Surely it's worth the money to know that your very own personal note will be given directly to Gerry and/or his "people" and not some "fan mail service" in London! Just imagine Gerry reading through our bag of cards while traveling. Your personal card may be the very one that makes Gerry giggle on one of his many plane trips across the globe. I know that possibility is worth the 20 bucks to me ... Off to paypal...
Guest greyeyegoddess
I think sending personal information is different than asking for a personal request. Writing your number or address, or leaving a card with that information is different from asking or begging Gerry to call or contact you. Saying something like, "PLEASE, YOU HAVE TO CALL ME!" isn't the same as just putting your information down. I apologize if that was confusing. I don't see why you wouldn't put an address if you are writing a letter or card. Don't you usually leave a return address when you send a letter? I don't think I wrote "no phone numbers or addresses". I wrote about "no special requests". But if that changes, I will let you know. I'm sure Gerry would love to know where his fans are from. ~alice
Janine
Come on people! Surely it's worth the money to know that your very own personal note will be given directly to Gerry and/or his "people" and not some "fan mail service" in London! I'll be participating in this, but this made me curious. How do fan mail services work? Do they store it for him until he gets a chance to look at it or does he never get his mail? I know that doesn't sound very optimistic...lol...but, you know, when I write a letter I pick out nice paper and put a lot of thought into it, and if I knew there wasn't even a chance he might see it, I probably wouldn't bother... Anna
Sent my money via Paypal! Not sure that I can think of anything innovative in the way of sending my greeting, but I'll give it a shot. My old gal Molly would have loved that dogbed, she loved her creature comforts, bless her. Anna X
heISmyGspot
Janine, I have no idea how it "works." My "mail service" experience is limited to (I'm embarrassed to admit) an old televangelist's ministry mail. My personal guess is that a "fan mail service" would open and read mail -- then sort it by content (i.e., requests signed photo, praise, complaint, etc.) and then "automated responses" would be generated. I would further "guess" that extenuating circumstances may cause a letter or card to garner special attention -- but I have no idea what kind of criteria Gerry may require for a letter to be put aside. I can't imagine that he's still able to read all of his fan mail -- certainly 300 has caused those days to fall by the wayside. But this just my PERSONAL ASSUMPTION -- which is why I paid the $20. I realize there's no guarantee that Gerry will read my note -- even in this scenario. But I feel like my chances are greatly improved! LOL (And thanks, Anna! Got your paypal notification earlier! Your dog is GREAT! (I'm a big dog gal (which shouldn't surprise anyone that's ever met my hubby! LMAO))

It was hard to know what to write, there is so much you want to say to him. I restrained myself and made it short. Take care everyone. Attila Girl
QUESTION: Remember how last year we could also send a letter? But does it need to be something that you can open and read before giving it to Gerry? Those of you who were here last year know that the letters were read or scanned over to make sure they weren't disrespectful, x-rated, or had personal requests like "Call me at.....". The rules still apply. No "Will you call me?" or "Will you marry me?" or "Will you visit me?" or any kind of invitation or innuendos. Oh, so there goes my "marry me Gerry" letter!! (Just KIDDING!!!) ( I really don't know where this "naughtiness comes from!)

Guest greyeyegoddess
I just want to add that you can send your funds in before you write your letter or send in your gift. Cassie
I'm having a tough time coming up with something. This happened to me last time, but I finally came up with something at the last minute and sent it in. I will find something worthy enough to say re: Gerry. For someone like Gerry, I need some time to compose something worthwhile. He deserves much praise. Cassie
