This is probably not the place to ask, but I am going to Canada on Friday and have no passport. Found out that my birth certificate is actually just a record not a certificate. Passports are not needed until like Jan of '08. What I need to know is will my drivers license and Social Security Card work to get me in and out of Canada for one day? I've thoroughly torn all my hair out trying to find ONE website that has a list of acceptable documents and not one site has one. Please, for the love of Gerry, someone help!!!!! I hate to tell you this Aims but you need your drivers license and official birth certificate to prove citizenship. If you live near the city you were born you should be able to get a birth certificate with the official seal in one day by going to city hall. But if you don't then I do not know what to tell you.

Thanks for posting that Dawn. Yikes. I need to get my passport. I've never needed one but with all the delays going on, I should get it just in case something comes up. Hope you're able to figure this out Aimee. Make sure you've got what you need before you go. When my daughter needed her passport, we were able to go to the Vital Statistics office and get an official copy of her Birth Certificate immediately. My husband walked out with it within the hour of walking in the door. And Miss Katie! This is a great thread. I've never heard of this travel group before. Sounds like great fun!! Thanks for posting it.

You're welcome Jillymac. "Thelma & Louise" is co-owned by Grace Frankel, the mother of the wonderful Mark Frankel, featured currently in my siggy below. Unfortunately, I'm not where I can travel very much (except to Vegas every June!) but I thought some of the other ladies of GALS could benefit from this service!

Thanks Dawn for sharing the info. on the passport!

Thank you Dawn for posting this fabulous information! Aimee, you'll need both your birth certificate and your driver's license in order to gain entry into the country. You don't want to have to be stuck in Canada like I was for a week longer than scheduled due to not having that important information! {{Was stolen in my case.}} It's a nightmare. Good luck hon! :hugs: Edited by Iliessa

Very interesting site. I'll look it up for sure. I did quite a bit of travelling on my own. :)
