Hello Ladies

Well, I survived my first week at the new job. Not bad, working with a group of very friendly people. Tried to educate the masses about Gerry and a couple of them thought it was funny that I remember exactly what page in People Gerry was on. They now refer to Gerry as my boyfriend. :kisswink:

Anna, I'm sorry you're hurting. Just pull out Gerr's picts and stare at them, maybe it will help lessen the pain.

Sue - :claphands: Happy Birthday to Mr. Irish!

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone. Not a bad day for Friday the 13th!

:hello: I"m BACK!!!! WHoo!!! :pointy: :yippee:

Oh my goodness, did I ever miss you guys!!!! I lost my internet for about 2months due to my car suddenly heaving its last gasp and going to that great junkyard in the sky--- exactly 4 days before Mom and I were scheduled to leave for a week's vacation up in the White Mountains. :tantrum:

Had to find a "new" used car in a hurry so I could get to work-- I live too far from my job to walk or ride a bicycle to work, and public transportation doesnt come all the way out here in the boonies of wild west Arizona, so a new vehicle was a non-negotiable must-have. Unfortunately it took every last bit of my extra money to do it, the result of which meant luxuries like the internet had to be given up for a couple months.

The upside is that I now have a nice 97 Ford Escort that has working a/c and seat belts, and springs with padding in the seats, and an interior that is NOT shredded, working interior lights, good gas mileage, a radio that actually has an antenna, cassette player, cup holders, carpet on the floor, 4 doors that open easily and completely instead of the hinge catching in only 2 places before the door suddenly comes slamming back down on you (old car had heavy metal doors -oy!). Much improved from the 1980 Datsun I'd been stuck with for the last 4 years .

You don't even want to imagine the withdrawals I was going through w/o my internet, my GALS, my constant Gerry updates :bonk: :bonk: :bonk: ....

And oh my fooken Butler, was getting back online a CHALLENGE and a HALF... :killcomp:

My cable internet was supposed to have been turned back on as of Wed by 5pm--key word here is *supposed to*.

I was all exited to catch up on all the latest Gerry/GALS happenings--I had major major withdrawals the last 2 months -- until I tried to open the browser and load the forum.

I had zilch, nada, niente.

I spent 3hrs on the phone with Cox's techies trying to figure out why I was getting my cable internet even though the cable TV was working just peachy. We were unable to solve the problem that night, and after connecting to every cable jack in the house with every single coax cable I own, I still was internet-Gerry-GALS-less, and had an appointment for a tech to come out today to trouble shoot and fix the problem, for a mere (whopping) additional $50. :tantrum:

So today, I spent all afternoon with the tech, found out my cable modem joined my old car in the junkyard in the sky, got a new one (yet another $60 down the drain :tantrum: ) and I STILL couldn't get online. Tech left, came back 2hrs later with a second Tech in tow, and the two of them TOGETHER still couldn't get it to work. There was a second problem: they couldn't figure out how to get my desktop to acknowledge the existence of the new cable modem, which would then allow it to retrieve the proper IP address needed to access the internet. *Sigh*.

They apologized profusely, informed me I probably needed to go buy a new ethernet card, and if that didn't work, to call the Geek Squad. Then they rushed out the door quicker than you can say :swear: *fume*

So, I sat here trying to figure out what to do when it hit me that I have a laptop. A crappy laptop, but hey if it turns on and functions somewhat...who's complaining? Managed to get the cable modem hooked to it, and the laptop found it and installed it just fine ........but still no internet. :tantrum:

I spent another hour online with tech support who finally managed to override the darned default IP address and put in the correct one. Yay!! :pointy:

Then the laptop crapped out. Poop. :tissues:

Once I got done with my tantrum/swear-a-thon, I started fiddling with the desktop again---I am one determined little GAL lol--- and tried to figure out why it couldn't detect the new modem. Turns out it was finding the modem, just on the USB cable instead of the ethernet--and it had installed the device under a general title of " ?? USB Cable MODEM ??" instead of the actual make/model name which it is normally supposed to do. So all I had to do was click on the general title, and install the correct drivers from the cd-rom (which renamed the modem correctly), then manually enter the new IP address I'd gotten from tech support earlier for the laptop...and Voila.

Here I am.

I seriously find it funny that I am smarter than the TWO..... count them: TWO.... Cox cable internet specialist technicians who came out today!!! :rotflmao:

I guess I just really love The Butler and my GALS!!

I have *so* much to catch up on: the Convention, Gerry in Japan, news of the new movie he's filming (already??? does the man ever take a holiday?! ) etc. and so on......

And 300 will be out on dvd at the end of this month...I can't wait for the first movie chat with that one!!!! :cunning:

I hope everyone is having a lovely summer and I'm definitely going to try and join in for Movie chat tomorrow night. Attila.....Rawr!!! :cunning:

So glad to *Finally* be back and to see everyone!!!

:hugs:

How can that silly lass just lie there??????

Right, hope you all got through Friday 13th with skin and head intact. I only just managed but a delayed reaction and today is already Saturday here in Australia so my head in the clouds and brain un-engaged. Phew!!! Just dreaming about .... well you know what!

So, back to my book and comfy couch. See you all tomorrow.

So where is Nancy and Jude for that matter? Hey, I wonder if :mopboyjackie: got there before us arse kicking num chuking (sp???) women and she's forgotten all about her pain in the butt roomie! And maybe Jude went over there and saw Jackie there and the three of them are ummmm busy! :tantrum::cunning:

*Jude comes running in, trying to catch her breath.....Here I am, Sue!!! Whoaaa...we were busy all right....adjusting Jackie Junior's yellow towel took Nancy and I a bit longer than we expected!! Well, someone had to do it.....Hummmm :cunning: for some reason he wanted to keep it on and we kept knocking each other out :boink: trying to see who could :takeitoff: and :bigone: the fastest! :tasty: Sorry about that Jackie!!

Anna :rose: I'm so sorry to hear you're not feeling well, dear. I do hope you were able to get a good night's sleep tonight and you'll be feeling much better when you wake up!

Fran You know, CA has plenty of bars, sports bars, grills...anything you can think of....you didn't have to go to a place where there's tree frogs???....Yikes!! Like Sue said, we have hot weather at times in CA but we don't have to deal with humidity....or Frogs!! I promise you, just take a trip out here and I bet you'll make the move, at some point. Although, I don't blame you for wanting to be near your children.

Sue I hope you can enjoy your visit with your darling B2 next week....just be yourself and enjoy the baby. I'm positive the DIL is VERRA embarrassed by her behavior the last time you were there staying with the baby. BTW, I haven't seen you over at The Pub lately!! Drop in for a cool one!

I've been busy with our new boy, Toby! He's been such a delight and a sweetheart. He had his first exam at the Vet yesterday and he put his age at 7 yrs. instead of 5 yrs., due to a slight heart murmer he found while checking him. He said it's very common in cocker spaniels but it rarely happens before the age of seven so he's putting him there along with setting his birthday on July 4th (easy to remember!) No meds needed now, he'll just x-ray his heart each year to monitor whether or not his heart becomes enlarged then go from there.

He also has minor ear infections so they flushed them out and gave me something to use twice a week to clear it up. Again, very common in cockers. The Vet also said that Toby has allergies!.....(Sheesh! anything else???) but nothing to worry about....WHO DOESN'T have allergies??? So aside from those issues, he's a healthy boy. He called today to tell me that all his blood tests came back normal so I could start him on his HeartGuard along with continuing the FrontLine, which we started yesterday. I swear, I don't remember having as much upkeep with my sons when they were young!!! But then, I can't remember back that far! When the assistant was throwing all the information at me, I had to stop her and tell her I can't possibly retain THAT MUCH information in one day!! :confused:Give me a break!!

That's it for now, I won't bore you anymore with my doggie tales....you know, new Grandparents!! :rotflmao:

See you later....maybe, if I don't fall asleep!

JUDE

STAR!!! You're back! We missed you!! Thought maybe you'd found some other man out there that might try to rival Gerry in your affections! (As If!) It sounds like your computers were possessed by space aliens for a while, but glad you got it all fixed. All of us have had computer problems lately. I think Elissa has probably had the worst of it though....there are three computers in her house!

Jude, you and Nancy leave poor Jackie Jr. alone! He needs to keep his towel in place for fear of starting a riot in the Gutter!!

Got through Friday the 13th with little trouble except both front porch lights went out and I have to wait till daylight to replace the bulbs. What are the chances of loosing both in one evening??? Sounds spooky to me! **Cue the Twilight Zone Theme**

Hope everyone has a nice night and lots of Gerry dreams! Hopefully someone will stick a muzzle on the stoopid tree frogs so people can get some sleep around here!

Hugs for now,

Suzie

JUDE

Hi there Everyone!

I had a good night, got comfortable and never moved till half an hour ago......

Jude had to rush in to say my cocker Molly had allergies and when she had a flare up we were told by to feed her on Turkey and Rice, it sure worked for her. We boiled turkey legs in a pan of water, when they were cooked, and removed we'd add the rice to the water and cook. She loved her diet, we could give her a baked potato, crispy skin for a treat. The allowance of turkey meat was 2ozs only per day. She got well very quickly and was disappointed when she went back to her old regime.

Back to the coffee pot,

Hugs,

Anna X

Hugs,

Suzie

:omg2: Shut off your WHAT??!! :rotflmao: :crack1:

Ladies, (and Frannie :kisswink:) :rotflmao: ...Just want to say Hi before I fall off my chair...Unfortunately I woke up with a somewhat sore throat...very red tonsills...and an even more overwhelming than usual tired feeling. I got woken up too early to with news of a limo run, and then a couple hours later it was cancelled. I went out anyways and spent the whole day doing errands...9 stops in under 6 hours...could have driven to Vegas in that time!!

But my day started very crummy once I went downstairs for breakfast...the B*tchy roommate left me a rather nasty note...I talked about it with JUDE and I told her...my roommate was the one who behaved like such a fool all weekend with her friends and their drinking party and yet, she's been acting like she's mad at me since Sunday!! I'm not the one who did anything wrong, or INCONSIDERATE!! If the tables were turned, I'm sure she'd be ranting and raving till I left. So I went out all day to not have to think about her or see her...she works a half day on Fridays...And in her note she mentioned she was having a "friend" over...Just as I suspected...the last "new" boyfriend must have dumped her like they all do within 5 months.

Well, I am really feeling lousey now...my throat is bothering me and I'm so tired, what am I doing up?!! I have a run for tomorrow, but it's not till 6pm...(till midnite...ugh!!) I hope I feel better tomorrow...it's going to be a long drive.

ANNA...Hope you're feeling better today...I wish MacWilley would bring me a hot water bottle... :kisswink:

Love to all,

NANCY

P.S. :happybirthday: Late-ish BIRTHDAY WISHES to JENN, ALLY, and JPH/Jen!! Hope all you ladies celebrated a good one!! :partytime:

Whew!

I'm tired just reading all the things you GALS have been through/have had to do/put up with!

Y'all ain't trollops...Ya'lls Amazons!

I especially loved the fact that TWO techs don't have half the intelligence of one GAL!!!! ROFLMAO at the Tupid Techs!!!

As for the ongoing hostilities against tree frogs, may I just point out that they are the least of a Southern Ladies worries. Ya'll never heard of Rednecks? (YIPES...I went there!) They're the idiots who take pot-shots at the trees only to put even more holes in their cars on blocks! LOL

Seriously, though...Attila Girl...you need to take the advantage of her absence to P in her shoes! My Moms cat does that when he's P'd at Mom, and she changes her B*tchy ways right quick and in a big hurry! If she asks you what the H**L happened, tell you had to chase a strange cat out of ya'lls place...he he he.

Oh, and Jude...if you and Nancy do free SirPokey from the confines of Ye Auld Yellow Towel, please remember to take pictures and post them ASAFP so we all can enjoy.

It's the only GALS thing to do, right? Wink Wink-Nudge Nudge

Hugs-N-Love

Billie

Rather amusing story from last night…

Mousie and I were on our way to see Harry Potter 5, and we got stopped by a train. We were first in line, waiting for the exceptionally slow and long train to pass. Two guys and two girls were walking down the sidewalk and approached the tracks, the guys strutting like they were tough, hot stuff.

Then, on the other side of the street, a gray car pulls over into a gravel parking lot next to the tracks, and four more guys pile out, leaving their car doors open, and began crossing in front of my car, heading towards the other group. At first I thought they’d found other friends…until I noticed they were squaring off for a fight.

As they crossed the street, a couple of them stripped off their shirts, and one guy from each group squared off against the other, while the rest of the boys made a bit of a ring with their bodies.

Okay. That sort of description warrants for quite a bit of alarm. But there were several things “wrong” with this attempted rumble.

First, it was only about 7:30pm, the sun still up and very bright. Second, there was quite the line of cars on both sides of the tracks, so plenty of witnesses with cell phones. And third…these guys don’t know how to properly fight! *snort* Here they were, shirtless tough-looking guys swinging roundhouse punches at each other’s heads like some kind of jr. high scuffle. Neither of them had their fists up to protect themselves, and neither bothered to use short, straight jabs at the other. Nope, just clumsy “tough-looking” roundhouse punches at each other’s heads.

Luckily the train passed and the arms raised before we could see anything else, but the friends we were meeting at the theatre said they had to detour to the theater because of cops blocking the way. So, due to their indiscretion, fighting in front of a TON of witnesses in broad daylight, the cops broke up their fight before it really even began.

I hope they got arrested.

Oh! And leaving their car on the side of the road with all the doors open…I SO wanted to call out, “Hey, free car everyone!!!”

While waiting for the movie to start, I found myself telling the rest of the people we met up with, criticizing the structure of a supposed gang fight!

Thank heavens it all went so well, Mel. But, perhaps, might it have been an amateur version of WESTSIDE STORY?

(very amateur obviously!)

I would have given a lot to have seen that ...or you take the car....or someone plow the door off the car, even accidentally.

I went to see Potter last night too, and the worst we came up with was a HORDE of junior high kids there who were all spooked (and happy to be so) about seeing Potter on Friday the 13th. Lord give me strength as I teach jr. high and I recognized more than one of their little faces. Oh my.

Happy Saturday, everyone.
