PETITION to get Shattered released!

Recommended Posts

Okay GALS I got an email from John Lundin of cinemark. I email him about the release for Shattered. This is what I got from him.

This was a test. The distributor has not set their release plans nor the date for its release.

There is hope for us....

Hi Cassie,

You will have to use another email address -- you can't use the same one again.

DONE! I think I'm going to go in and try a push for CHICAGO again. I mean really, it's set in Chicago so how they came up w/Miami is beyond me.

Well, if it tested with only 6 people in the theatre, I don't have much hope. Of course, what do they expect when nothing was publicized and no one connected with the film, including the actors, even mention it. It is almost as if they don't want it to exist or are embarrassed by the result. Curiouser and curiouser.

and in Miami's prominently Spanish speaking community! It's like they wanted it to have a poor showing!

We have to get the trailer seen! That will drum up interest for sure!

People can't hardly be expected to want to see a film they know nothing about. If Lionsgate would just get the trailer out there, they would see what type of interest they would actually get!

After watching that trailer, I can't imagine why this film isn't being pushed by Lionsgate. It would be a movie that would I would find intriguing and would go see even without knowing about Gerry.

It boggles the mind. I wonder if we will ever find out the whole story behind this.

I hope it gets a wider distribution but either way, I'll be getting it in December for sure.

I just want to say something...I don't think is fair to say that.. there in Miami there is people that speak and understand english.. the movies are in english so they must know it if they want to understand them..

I would say they wanted to fail beacuse of:

1. NO PUBLICITY

2. NOT EVEN OUT SIDE the theater they had a poster of Shattered.. so how is people going to know about it if they can see a poster saying that is being played???

3. The OPENING WEEKEND.. everybody was busy waiting for the Simpsons movie..

Miami is not any small town and they can fill out a theater.. when THEY KNOW there is a movie worth seen..

Editing to say thank you for your time

:bump22: GALS, I know most of you have signed the petition, but if you haven't please take a moment to do so. Also, if you have more than one email address, you can sign once for each of those email addresses, using a different one for each addition. Then if any of you are as obcessed with Gerry as I am, you might email all of your family and friends asking them to sign this worthy petition. Here is a copy of the email I sent to all of my contacts, feel free to copy/paste:

Friends, Lionsgate Entertainment has released the movie "Shattered" starring Pierce Brosnan, Gerard Butler, and Maria Bello to only 10 theaters, all in the Miami area. The fans of Gerry Butler, Pierce Brosnan, and Maria Bellow have started an effort to promote it and to persuade Lionsgate to release it to a nationwide market. Please watch the trailer and, if you think you would like to see this movie on the big screen, add your name to the petition below. Thank you.

Just to clarify. I was talking about the specific theaters. My MIL is from Miami and actual she is Cuban and Spanish, but that is not what I meant. There are more than 5 theaters in Miami and there is more than one area. These theaters are in the prodominently Spanish area.

I saw posts from those in Miami that saw the film. She said that others(outside of her group) in the audience didn't speak English but still seemed to enjoy the film. And that the theaters were in the heavily Spanish speaking area.

My main point is if you really want to test a film why have it viewed in an area that wouldn't have as much natural interest. And then on top of that don't promote it. My point of the location of the theater was an addition to the other points already stated over and over again. I didn't feel the need to repeat them again. Next time I will make sure that I do.

Has anyone heard what the numbers where in Miami? I am just curious. I have been contacting theatre's in Chicago. I have had a couple responses to my emails. Sent responses, waiting to see what they say.

I have had one seem receptive...waiting to see what their latestt response will be.

Unfortunately, I do not believe the numbers are very encouraging.

gb.net has two reviews. One Tart said there were 4 other people in the audience besides her. The other said 28 in the audience (that was a scheduled Tart get together to support Shattered.).

One lady said her husband had business in Miami, so she told him he absolutely had to go. He did and telephoned her after the showing and said he didn't get it--it was very good--why wouldn't someone want to distribute the movie. He really liked it a lot. He was in the theatre showing with 2 others in the audience.

There was NO radio, tv, newspaper, internet announcement that any theatre was showing Shattered. The theatres showing it never posted even a handwritten note on the ticket window saying Shattered was showing. If you didn't arrive at the theatre with advance knowledge it was showing, there was NO way to know it was.

Call me paranoid, but I don't believe anyone in the movie business is this inept. It has to be deliberate it seems to me. Why?

IF Lionsgate doesn't want to put Shattered in theatres, what better way than play the movie in a few theatres, and do NOT ONE THING to spread the word, so naturally no one attends; Lionsgate can now say, hey, we tried it in theatres, and no one went, so it's on to DVD now!

Something subterranean is at work I feel. Smells a lot like sabatogued movie. I cannot believe that all these things they've done, and undermined, are just silly mistakes.

I think they have already made up their minds that this movie was going to go right to a DVD, It looks like they don't even want to give it a chance. With a simple large poster and one line saying FEATURING STAR OF BLOCKBUSTER 300 GERARD BUTLER!! I'm going now to see if I can use another E-mail address. I haven't used my daughters yet!

still wondering what's the point of the petition then if it's so obvious this one's going straight-to-video..........

The point is to make Lionsgate realize they have made a mistake and to get the film out in the theatres after all.

Lionsgate knows of the petition and knows we aren't stopping with just the petition.

We can just pray (and fight like hell!) that right wins out!

Right, Dayna! And also, I think some of us would like for Gerry and the rest of the cast to know that we tried for THEIR sake.

I want Gerry to know that his fans care.
