Gerry Addicted Lust Syndrome (GALS) continued

WELCOME to the 24th floor of the 2nd highrise of our clinic! We only have 45 floors to go to reach 69 again!

We are going to do something a little different on this floor. Since the prevailing concern on this site as well as other sister sites is getting a wider release for "Shattered" this is going to be the "Let's Get Shattered" floor. Any and all new (and relatively sane) ideas to promote this film and get it into more theaters in more cities are welcome to be tossed about for discussion here. Show off your "Shattered" siggies, wallpapers, avatars, or just chat about how great this movie looks to be from the trailers and WHY WE WANT TO SEE IT!!

AND NOW.... the original thread.

Being the compassionate person that I am, I can recognize a cry for help when I see one. Having said that, I have decided to start a new support group for those of us with Gerry Addicted Lust Syndrome – from now on, all with Gerry Addicted Lust Syndrome with be known as GALS.

This group is open to all GALS and non-GALS alike who believe they are in serious need of support and guidance as they realize how serious their addiction has become. This is not a support group which advocates traditional intervention, as the failure rate would be astronomical, but merely a group whom you can turn to who share in your addictions or withdrawals, whichever the case may be. Some of the signs that you have GALS include, but are not limited to:

1. You buy every magazine on the rack looking for photos or articles of Gerry and start to get the jitters when there has been no sign of him for weeks.

2. You drive 500 miles to see a Gerry movie.

3. Your significant other (or just someone you're dating) gives you stark reminders they are SOOOO NOT Gerry.

4. Co-workers, friends and/or family start teasing you for your addiction – people can be so cruel...

5. You become addicted to caffeine because you can’t pull yourself away from GALS...."'cause just MAYBE he'll be on Chat tonight."

6. You obsess with much glee, "Gerry has a computer...and he knows how to use it!!!!"

7. You find yourself asking aloud, "Did he REALLY mean what he said about the 3:00 a.m. thing and does he REALLY wear a size 11 shoe?" Then smile broadly.

8. You catch yourself speaking in a Scottish accent for no apparent reason.

9. You change the decor in your bathroom to accommodate your new yellow towels.

10. The "G-Spot" takes on a whole new meaning.

11. You spend days wondering why a Scot would be named "Andre."

12. You buy “Mrs. Brown” just for the skinny-dipping scene and play that one scene in slow mo and super slow mo, over and over and over again. (Okay, so maybe that was just me.) :D

13. You have a picture of Gerry in your wallet, and refer to him as “your man, Gerry.”

14. You spend your hard-earned cash assigned for other “non-essential” items (phone bill, power bill, etc.) on essential Gerry related items.

15. You go shopping for your “real-life” man and finding yourself thinking, “OMG!!! Gerry would look so :censored: hot in that!!!

16. You have to buy a new hard drive to accommodate all your pics and videos of Gerry.

17. You search through a couple hundred $5.50 DVDs at Wal-Mart because an employee said Dracula 2K might be there.

18. You can't possibly walk past Starbucks without dreaming that maybe... *sighs*

19. You refer to the Gerry wallpaper on your computer as your “happy place.”

20. While looking up at the clouds you SWEAR there's a cloud in the shape of a "G"...funny thing is, the GAL next to you sees the same thing!!!

21. Multiples (Gerrygasms) are an every day occurrence!!!

This list will continue to grow as you tell me your addictions...

Below is a very simple 10-step program to help foster our addiction.

1. You must admit you have GALS. This is so important to further your addiction. Yes, this support group wants to nourish your addiction, not starve it. We are here for you.

2. Come to believe the Great and Powerful Gerry is greater than ourselves and only our visions and/or fantasies can keep us addicted. To truly become addicted, however, one must at one time in ones life made the Gerry Mecca Journey (GMJ) and meet him in person.

3. Make a decision to turn our will and lives over to our addiction to Gerry.

4. Make a searching and fearless immoral inventory of our fantasies of Gerry.

5. Lend your support to those who have GALS, but are yet unable to admit it.

6. Watch every movie (more than once) in which Gerry has a role. To be truly addicted, you must develop a love of all Gerry genres (yes, this includes “Tale of the Mummy” and “Dracula 2000”).

7. Frequently quote lines from Gerry films. Memorize them, use them, replace old phrases with new Gerry lines. This will prove to all your serious commitment to your addiction.

8. Know Gerry’s biography better than you know your own. True GALS will know all Gerry’s trivia. Study it, soak it in, become one with Gerry's biography.

9. Give generously (money folks) to the website which has fostered your addictions and allowed your fantasies to take flight.

10. Convert all who are convertible to this syndrome. This is the true mark of GALS. Do not judge - for your next recruit may be your boss!

As this is a relatively new Syndrome, the above guidelines are subject to editing, amending or scrapping all together as we GALS deem necessary.

The first step to true addiction is to admit you have GALS!! I will begin the group.

"My name is Dr. Em and I have GALS."

All are welcome to join in our group. GALS, we must not suffer in silence!!! We now have a voice!!! Let it be heard!

*Disclaimer: We GALS appreciate not only Gerry’s royal hotness for which there is no rival, we indeed, also recognize his abundance of talent, soul, passion, spirit, sense of style and humor, sincerity...can I stop now? Our addictions are all-encompassing and we embrace Gerry EVERY WHICH WAY WE CAN!!!*

To Cleobethra for our “Warning Label.”

Hi Alice! Have a safe drive down here. I wish I could see you!! I would so much love to go to Comic Con again this year, but aside from not feeling so great, I really cannot afford it. I need to get a full-time job ASAP!! (Like yesterday!!)

I did go somewhere yesterday after my lunch with Susan. A former boss had referred me. But after sitting there in a VERY uncomfortable chair for over an hour, and completing TWO applications for TWO different positions, I could hear what was going on in the office and I decided they were NOT professional and I was not going to work there!!

ALICE: Get a good picture of Tom and David for me!!

Goodnight!

Nancy

That's great Swannie. I think I was number 64 when I signed up an hour ago. I went thru Susan's REVISED link on her siggy. That's the one, right?

I just don't understand it all...It's only releasing in Miami??? What's so special about Miami? Usually when a film starts with limited release it's NY and LA. And it may or may not go on from there. I remember when My Big Fat Greek Wedding was at one of our local theatres that just shows the "art house" and foreign films for like two months, but then word-of-mouth brought more people in to see it and eventually it was released to the main-stream theatres and became a very big hit. Most recently, The Queen turned out the same way.

Hey, I just noticed I'm still "Neil's Butterfly Gal"...So now am I gonna be "Neil's Shattered Gal"???

Tamara explained on GB.net that it is being released in Miami because Peirce's other film, The Matador, did very well there.

Okay, I gotta share this: I'm watching Jay Leno and he had a comedy skit with a man dressed as an Al Qaida member doing a tv broadcast and Jay asked him if they had "groupies" in Iraq, and the guy said "Leave the camels out of this"... :rotflmao::rotflmao::rotflmao:

Only to we sick and twisted Gerry fans does that camel joke get an extra hearty laugh.

Well, I finally got home around 10:15 tonight and I JUST finished packing. I have to go to bed so I can try to get 8 hours of sleep before needing to get up and showered. Nancy is going to take us to the airport (not in the limo, just in her car). Fortunately we are flying out of Orange County so it will be a quick drive.

As my new siggy says - I'm now outta here. Will try to check in from an internet cafe in Glasgow, especially after making the presentation to SYT. I haven't heard back from them to schedule it so I'll have to call them on Monday.

All those going to Comic Con have a fantastic time and cheer extra loud for everyone involved in "300" (to make up for those of us who aren't there to lend our voices).

Let's hope by the time I come home there is good news about Shattered getting a wider release. Keep up the good fight. I will miss you all more than you know, but hope I can come back with great pictures and even better stories to go with them.

:hugs:

About a week ago I told you GALS about my friend Virginia passing from breast cancer. Tonight they are having a celebration of her life at Win River casino. My mom who was Virginia chemo nurse told me that they are taking the money, from the benefit and taking Virginia and scattering her ashes in Scotland!!

How neat is that. :butterfly: I guess she always wanted to go there.

That just touches my heart! What a beautiful thing to do for Virginia! Thanks, hun, for letting us know.

Jobella, what a beautiful gesture!!

I was watching the trailer for BEOWULF, starring Anthony Hopkins and Angelina Jolie, and feeling the tiniest bit resentful that Hollywood had to go and make this a typical bigger-than-life story, with dragons, etc. I thought the one with Gerry was fabulous, especially in that it was gritty and real; you could feel the cold, smell the fires, and feel like you were THERE. None of the Hollywood hype and special effects. It was so well done. This one is just over the top, and full of beautiful people; I'm sure it will be very entertaining, but it's not the version I prefer. :tantrum:

Okay, so I just watched the trailer for SHATTERED and it looks awesome!! I'm the kind of person who has to have a happy ending, though, so I might have to a get a friend (or my husband) to preview it for me, otherwise I'm not sure I could watch it. I've seen my boy get killed off in so many movies, I just don't want to see it happen again!! Yes, I also skip to the last page of a book and read the ending first; it's the reason I write romances--they always have a guaranteed happily-ever-after!!

Hey ladies,

Don't forget to watch the G4 channel if you have cable to see the days highlights from the Comic Con convention. It starts tonight at 7pm EST and from 10pm to Midnight. I'm taping it so that I can fast/forward thru the commercials. I'm dying to see how many people are brave enough to dress as a Spartan Warrior. My hubby watched it last year and kicked himself for not going w/me. If anything watch it to see how far some peope go just to show appreciation for a character they like OMG. Some of the costumes I saw were ridiculous.

I'm off to do some scrapbooking. You gorgeous GALS have a great evening.

I SO agree with you, Karen. I prefered the perspective of tribal pride and issues of racism, rather than Grendel being an actual monster. Makes it much more real and poigniant.

Okay so, guess what everyone?? New GBCAST episode!!

ACK-I haven't been here since early JUNE! I'm sorry-don't throw things! :flee:

I have a lot of reading to do. I see things are busy here (as usual)!

I was just going through some stuff-and when that happens I just kind of get lost in myself, you know, and don't want to talk about it or anything else. But now its done so I can tell you. I was waiting for what I felt would be the final custody hearing with my ex and was really nervous. But after 26 months and $30,000 lawyer fees, I can tell you that I finally won-that psycho is out of our lives!

After that, my daughter and I took a few weeks vacation just to get away from it all!

It's good to be here. I missed you all-and catching up on Gerry!

(((((hugs)))))

Good evening ladies. Just got back from dinner then grocery shopping. I'm so tired I think I'm going to go take a shower and hop in bed and watch a movie. It's Friday night, it's humid out and all I want to do is relax. I have a busy enough weekend one night this weekend won't kill me to stay in.

Has anyone heard back from the GALS at Comic Con? I'm dying to hear what is going on.

All you lovely ladies have a great evening.
