mommaduck
The hardest thing for me to understand is all the "mystery" surrounding this movie. It certainly sounds like there is nothing wrong bad enough to not want it "out." I suppose it all has to do with $$$$ but it seems to me this film has everything it takes to draw from moviegoers of all ages. Frankly, this is REALLY getting to me, and I guess I need to "get a life!! Judy
Poppy
What amazes me, is that they didn't release this film on the coat tails of 300. I think many people who saw Gerry in 300...would have gone to see this movie.....if it had been promoted as such. Not to mention that both Maria and Pierce are both wonderful, accomplished actors too! I really think Liongate missed on this one....I bet there was lots of money to be had......and a good thriller for us all to see.
LESVAN
Movies are made all the time and never make it to the theaters....sometimes they clash with other movies by the same production companies....there are many reasons...and sometimes the actors know in advance that it won't be shown in theaters....it's just the way the movie industry works....it's just business...stockholders...stuff like that....you really do have to be a grounded and realistic person with a thick hide if you want to work in that industry...disappointments can happen anytime for any reason...Gerry has a lot of guts to be able to deal with that kind of atmosphere....Maybe it's a good thing Lionsgate picked it up at all...from what I've been reading...there weren't too many other offers....Lionsgate could be the savior of this film...even if it doesn't get wider distribution in theaters...it will at least go to DVD You are right Debrasue. And how many times have we been to the video store and seen top name actors in a film that you don't even remember seeing being released. And I'd just like to add that it costs a lot of money to promote a film and even more money to have hundreds of prints made for screenings, and independent studios just don't have millions left over after post-production for this, so they depend on distributors taking on the risk of doing just that. If Lionsgate only has a couple of prints for screenings, "Shattered" may only show for a week at a time in major cities and only as long as there are paying customers filling up the seats. Swansong
The real mystery here, as it has been reported by those ladies who did see it in Miami this weekend.... none of those theaters displayed the poster, and none did any sort of promotion in the lobby or on the theater grounds. There was nothing to notify movie goers of the film's showing in Miami, so literally, the only people in those seats were the organized fans of GB. Why even bother to show this film in a theater at all, if you are NOT going to get folks to come and watch it? They have a perfectly decent trailer, so why not show it in selected theaters as a preview, or at least link it to entertainment sites? Songbird
Thank you Ines but,my question is:How was it possible to see Shattered??? Arielcips, Ines lists her location as Florida, so I think it's safe to assume that she saw "Shattered" there this past weekend. And as far as I know, we have not been given any information as to why they changed the movie title from "Butterfly On A Wheel" to "Shattered". Clearly, this person is asking why they decided to switch from "BOAW" to "Shattered." The answer is: "That's anyone's guess, Ariel!!" Some Hollywood Big Wig probably decided it was too hard to type, and shortened the name. Who knows? I, for one, prefer "Shattered" and think it was a wise move. (So far, it's the ONLY wise move made on behalf of this film...) Glad to see you posting, Ariel!
oslingerpi
Thank you Ines but,my question is:How was it possible to see Shattered??? (and the second one is:why did they change the first title, that was so suggested? I apologize for not answering before.. but I have been very busy at work.. Yes.. the girls are right.. I live in Pompano Beach, FL.. is kind of 45 minutes from Miami.. I saw it friday and saturday.. From what I have heard.. they changed the name of the movie because there were quite a few movies with that title and they do mention "Butterfly on a Wheel" in the movie a couple of times. I hope this helps.. Take care.. Ines Edited .. to say.. that I think the last showing was yesterday and aparently it was correct becauce I can't find it anymore Edited August 4, 2007 by oslingerpi
