Gerard Butler GALS

SIGN THE PETITION: Part 2

Recommended Posts

To all Butler, Brosnan and Bello fans: we reached the limit of posts allowed on our FIRST Petition thread, so I was asked to start a new one! Please.... lets continue our discussion of all things pertaining to support for Gerry's new film "Shattered".

Please know that Lionsgate IS aware of this petition, as well as other fan efforts underway to get this movie seen. We do have a voice, and our support IS warranted.

If you have not yet seen the Shattered trailer, you may do so here: http://lionsgate.com/shattered/

Many of us are outraged by Lionsgate's apparent negligence in promoting this film.... some of us are even throwing around theories about why this film is being virtually ignored.

Dr Em has been following this thread, and stopping in to give us updates about the current status regarding a wider release of this film, so be sure to visit this thread often for the latest news!!

If you need to read up on all the goings on behind the LACK of promotion of the film by Lionsgate, you may read the first thread here: Shattered Petition Thread #1

Following, are some valuable tools to assist in our Shattered promotion efforts, copied from post 1 of the parent thread. Please read on to find out what YOU can do!

Hey fans.... SIGN THIS PETITION and show your support!

Posted Image

I have created an online petition because I do not, in any capacity, understand why this film is not being given full release across the country.

I ask for all fans, whatever GB fan sites you are affiliated with, sign this petition and show support. When enough signatures are obtained, it will be sent directly to LionsGate films. You can use any GB link you want.

But our voices need to be heard; I am so tired of fans not having a voice in decisions like this.

Thanks.

NEW PETITION LINK: http://www.petitiononline.com/11132007/petition.html

PLEASE UPDATED YOUR URL's!

Here is the revised letter:

http://www.lionsgatefilms.com/

Lionsgate Entertainment

2700 Colorado Avenue, 2nd Floor

Santa Monica, California 90404

To the Executives and Shareholders of Lionsgate Films:

We, the fans of the actor Gerard Butler, strongly request for Lionsgate Films to extend the release of the film "Shattered" across the country. Currently, this film will be released to less than ten (10) movie theatres in Miami, Florida. We are anxiously hoping for a wider release, and we ask for reconsideration.

Mr. Gerard Butler's acting abilities, time and time again, have proven what an exceptional actor he is. We proved our loyalty by viewing the film "300" many times. Box office records were set; the fans added to the over $500 million dollar payday. With the DVD release of "300" on July 31st, now would be a perfect time for you to release "Shattered", and strike while the iron is hot.

To deny his fans the opportunity to view this film across the country may be limiting the ability of this film to prove its appeal, so we are signing this petition in hopes our voices will be heard. We are sure that both Mr. Pierce Brosnan and Ms. Maria Bello also have many dedicated fans hoping to see this film as well.

It is our request that you reply to this petition and let us know of your decision. We will not email, fax, or call your offices; we will not inconvenience any websites you have set up for business purposes and feedback.

Should we not receive a reply, then we would like to thank you for this platform to express our strong desire to see this film.

Sincerely,

The Undersigned

Siggy's and slices for everyone to use on all Gerry fan sites to help promote the movie.

I told about this on my birthday thread, but want to share it here, too.

Guess who sent me a "happy birthday" email? Lionsgate Entertainment! Though I'm sure they didn't mean for me to respond to it, I just had to answer them with the following:

Thank you for your sentiment, Lionsgate. Are you sincere in hoping I have a happy 58th birthday? If so, please release "Shattered" to theaters nationwide and give it the publicity it deserves. The cast is amazing and you are flushing big bucks down the toilet by not getting the movie out on the heals of Gerry Butler's great 300 success.

Did your mama ever teach you to respect your elders? Well, I am one of those esteemed elders and with age comes wisdom, which I have shared with you. What you do with it remains to be seen.

Reckon it will do any good?

OMG Libby, you are one CHEEKY broad! I LOVE your reply! What a surprise THAT message will be to someone!

We recently changed our domain name, so I was able to sign again. The only thing that bugs me is, out of ALL the THOUSANDS of GB fans,

why do we have so few signatures? Just between GALS and GB.net, we should have many more than that.

Do you suppose most of the fans just don't think it will do any good? I wish we could convince them otherwise. We need EVERY fan's signature. NO WAY Lionsgate could ignore us!

I wondered that as well Swannie. Nothing is fruitless if you give it your best shot!

I just BLASTED GB.net's Shattered threads with a post about Libby's birthday message from Lionsgate!

Someone had posted over there, that on-line petitions are pointless. They posted a link to an article stating that on-line petitions are completely disregarded by those they are directed to.

CYNICS!!!!!

Well I am NOT a cynic, and I refuse not to do something, just because someone else says it cannot be done!

Keep spreading the word, ladies!

I was wondering why the sigs are so low too! I just wonder if Gerrys fan base is slowly decreasing. I say this because since I've been here I've noticed a lot of names are no longer showing up! So I was wondering does the number change after a certain time or do they keep the list of names forever?? Just my thought that maybe when we read that there are at least say 10,000 members.....how long ago did they come up with that number? If you look at the list of all the names I haven't seen many many of these Gals ...or pals  Now if they still participate I would hope that they would sign the petition cause the louder we are the better we're heard!! :claphands:

:cunning: Fran.....Libby, LOVED IT! :yourock:

Well my posts on GB.net have apparently backfired, because no sooner had I posted my message, than someone else posted that they would NOT want Lionsgate to have their email address, so therefore, they would not be signing.

Frankly, I get so much crap email that I just don't care anynmore about spam. I'll just delete it along with the dozens of Viagra ads, p_ _ _ _ enlargement ads, and designer watches for 5.00 adds I get every day!

I'm with you on this. It's easy to click spam mail. In fact AOL collects it for me and I just delete all at once. This petition is more important. So sign up people and think of the pros and not the cons in doing so. It's for Gerry!! Like Leonidas, do what you think is right and don't think about the consequences. You can tell I just watched "300" again tonight!!

you did say you like to make us laugh.....you don't have a problem there, Swann!

I don't think your post backfired, Swann ...

I read the privacy statement at petitiononline.com....

According to petitiononline.com, the website hosting the petition, the email addresses are private and held in a secure archive to help validate signatures....the author of the petition & the recipient (Lionsgate) do not have access to them...unless the email was made public by the petition signer. So If you post & let them know their email addresses are relatively safe....my be more people will sign the petition if that is their concern.

Thank you for posting that, because I just woke up here and was ready to repeat that. The email addresses are for validation purposes only. The only thing the recipient receives is how many signatures there are. The only thing I have received is a daily report. What you see on that petition page is exactly what the recipient receives.

There will always be people that want to downplay the importance; that is never going to change. It's pretty sad, but their thought process is laughable, in my opinion. I guess because they did not think of it first. :scared: And I could share a lot, believe me... :rotflmao:

Petitions make a difference; the fact we got to the first 1,000 was a milestone. The fact that this petition has been sent around the world; I have received emails from people and the support is incredible! Even GB.net admin assisted in making suggestions for the rewording of the petition. I received an email from them and that was very kind for GB.net to do that. So there were so many people who pulled together on this, no matter what. The fact the recipient sees that number go up daily, is what makes them nervous.

If they had just read the whole thing, they would have seen that they don't even get the email address, and to be honest, they may be just using that as an excuse not to sign, with the amount of spam I get in the course of just 4 hours, another one or two doesn't make a difference, gmail has a great filter and just puts it right in the spam bin...and another great feature...DELETE ALL SPAM MESSAGES button, so you don't even have to do it individually.

:claphands: I will absolutely sign this petition and am with you on the fact that they do work! I had one where we wanted another TR and as soon as AJ is up to it they will make it. However I checked with the Galexy Cinema where I usually go and went to see 300 and it is playing now! The problem is transport as I am presently without wheels.

Also ALW's POTO is also playing (the show not the movie) in Ottawa until September...still I am without transport...

They said that since "Shattered" is being shown so early in our Cinemas that it would be out in DVD sooner!

:pointy: I knew there had to be an up side to something somewhere!

Don't worry I am still signing the petition if only to show my support for all the others who can't get it in their areas!

I've been clicking on the trailer slice several times a day in order to keep numbers up and I noticed today that the trailer runs a little less than half way through and then stops. Have we worn it out? Or is it malfunctioning on purpose. I'm usually not cynical but with Lionsgate I'm starting to be. Has anyone else had this problem as well?

I can't tell if Gerrys fan base is slowly decreasing or not... I hope not...

But the amount of active fans, seems to me, very small... I've been posting in Gals almost every day and I'm beginning to see the same Gals, not just the mods, mind you...

However, we can't forget that its summer time and most people are in holidays

The mass email by GALS would be a very good idea... If it was already sent I didn't received

Hugs
