Gerry Addicted Lust Syndrome (continued)

Recommended Posts

WELCOME to the 27th floor of the 2nd highrise of our clinic! We only have 42 floors to go to reach 69 again!

We are into September and an old song was going through my head "Try to remember that time in September..." and I got to thinking about all the new GALS who have come to join us over the past several months. Some of us who have been here for awhile may find a bit of the blush has gone from the rose (and for some not). But I thought it would be fun for all of us to try to remember and recapture those early days of discovering Gerry.

:whome2:

Yes, you, baby!

:ohbaby2:

There is something about Gerry that captivates us. We first get interested and start seeking out more information, more pictures, what is he really like? What other movies has he done? We just want more, more, more. So let's all remember when we first were diagnosed with GALS, and how we learned to embrace having it, and sharing it with others. Put ourselves in the shoes of the newest members who are just discovering they have GALS. We used to cram full every floor of the Support Center with Gerry pictures, and even though these aren't new, they are still just as worthy of :heat: :tasty:

Here is a little taste of what got some of us addicted, and has kept us here.

AND NOW.... the original thread.

Being the compassionate person that I am, I can recognize a cry for help when I see one. Having said that, I have decided to start a new support group for those of us with Gerry Addicted Lust Syndrome – from now on, all with Gerry Addicted Lust Syndrome with be known as GALS.

This group is open to all GALS and non-GALS alike who believe they are in serious need of support and guidance as they realize how serious their addiction has become. This is not a support group which advocates traditional intervention, as the failure rate would be astronomical, but merely a group whom you can turn to who share in your addictions or withdrawals, whichever the case may be. Some of the signs that you have GALS include, but are not limited to:

1. You buy every magazine on the rack looking for photos or articles of Gerry and start to get the jitters when there has been no sign of him for weeks.

2. You drive 500 miles to see a Gerry movie.

3. Your significant other (or just someone you're dating) gives you stark reminders they are SOOOO NOT Gerry.

4. Co-workers, friends and/or family start teasing you for your addiction – people can be so cruel...

5. You become addicted to caffeine because you can’t pull yourself away from GALS...."'cause just MAYBE he'll be on Chat tonight."

6. You obsess with much glee, "Gerry has a computer...and he knows how to use it!!!!"

7. You find yourself asking aloud, "Did he REALLY mean what he said about the 3:00 a.m. thing and does he REALLY wear a size 11 shoe?" Then smile broadly.

8. You catch yourself speaking in a Scottish accent for no apparent reason.

9. You change the decor in your bathroom to accommodate your new yellow towels.

10. The "G-Spot" takes on a whole new meaning.

11. You spend days wondering why a Scot would be named "Andre."

12. You buy “Mrs. Brown” just for the skinny-dipping scene and play that one scene in slow mo and super slow mo, over and over and over again. (Okay, so maybe that was just me.) :D

13. You have a picture of Gerry in your wallet, and refer to him as “your man, Gerry.”

14. You spend your hard-earned cash assigned for other “non-essential” items (phone bill, power bill, etc.) on essential Gerry related items.

15. You go shopping for your “real-life” man and finding yourself thinking, “OMG!!! Gerry would look so :censored: hot in that!!!

16. You have to buy a new hard drive to accommodate all your pics and videos of Gerry.

17. You search through a couple hundred $5.50 DVDs at Wal-Mart because an employee said Dracula 2K might be there.

18. You can't possibly walk past Starbucks without dreaming that maybe... *sighs*

19. You refer to the Gerry wallpaper on your computer as your “happy place.”

20. While looking up at the clouds you SWEAR there's a cloud in the shape of a "G"...funny thing is, the GAL next to you sees the same thing!!!

21. Multiples (Gerrygasms) are an every day occurrence!!!

This list will continue to grow as you tell me your addictions...

Below is a very simple 10-step program to help foster our addiction.

1. You must admit you have GALS. This is so important to further your addiction. Yes, this support group wants to nourish your addiction, not starve it. We are here for you.

2. Come to believe the Great and Powerful Gerry is greater than ourselves and only our visions and/or fantasies can keep us addicted. To truly become addicted, however, one must at one time in ones life made the Gerry Mecca Journey (GMJ) and meet him in person.

3. Make a decision to turn our will and lives over to our addiction to Gerry.

4. Make a searching and fearless immoral inventory of our fantasies of Gerry.

5. Lend your support to those who have GALS, but are yet unable to admit it.

6. Watch every movie (more than once) in which Gerry has a role. To be truly addicted, you must develop a love of all Gerry genres (yes, this includes “Tale of the Mummy” and “Dracula 2000”).

7. Frequently quote lines from Gerry films. Memorize them, use them, replace old phrases with new Gerry lines. This will prove to all your serious commitment to your addiction.

8. Know Gerry’s biography better than you know your own. True GALS will know all Gerry’s trivia. Study it, soak it in, become one with Gerry's biography.

9. Give generously (money folks) to the website which has fostered your addictions and allowed your fantasies to take flight.

10. Convert all who are convertible to this syndrome. This is the true mark of GALS. Do not judge - for your next recruit may be your boss!

As this is a relatively new Syndrome, the above guidelines are subject to editing, amending or scrapping all together as we GALS deem necessary.

The first step to true addiction is to admit you have GALS!! I will begin the group.

"My name is Dr. Em and I have GALS."

All are welcome to join in our group. GALS, we must not suffer in silence!!! We now have a voice!!! Let it be heard!

*Disclaimer: We GALS appreciate not only Gerry’s royal hotness for which there is no rival, we indeed, also recognize his abundance of talent, soul, passion, spirit, sense of style and humor, sincerity...can I stop now? Our addictions are all-encompassing and we embrace Gerry EVERY WHICH WAY WE CAN!!!*

To Cleobethra for our “Warning Label.”

I'll never forget as long as I live.

January 30th 2001 approx. 9:13pm EST.

I was waching Attila and when I saw those eyes, I was done.

His beautiful face, fierce eyes..his passion is what ignited my flame for the man.

I was addicted, and followed his career ever since.

With each role he has gone to new places, Mastering his emotions to allow them

to bend to his will. He has conquered his craft and shown us so much beauty, that it can allow

us all to look past some of the ugly things in this world and hope.

And after speaking and meeting the man, I knew that he spoke with his heart, and that made him that much more special to me.

There are many actors out there. Many who are talented, many who are kind, many who we love when we watch them on screen.

But every single time I see Gerard Butler on the screen, it feels like it did back in January 2001.

Every time I see him, it's like the first time.

That little tickle in the pit of my stomach, a smile that won't leave my lips.

He's my favorite actor, and I know I can say without exaggeration, that he always will be.

:hugs:

I'm a late bloomer! This did it for me. Then every time I saw a movie that he'd already been in, I was PO'd at what I'd missed but kept falling deeper and deeper. And now, well, I've been BUTLERIZED!!!!

Now back to the real world. I know the trailer for P.S. I Love You hasn't been released but my neighbor could almost swear she saw the trailer when she went to see No Reservations. Although she said they didn't have a release date for it, it just said Coming Soon. I find it hard to believe. Anybody know anything?

Someone told me last night that she saw one of the posters for PSILY in her local AMC theater, but I haven't heard of anyone seeing a trailer for it yet.

This man..... his heart, his soul.... his silky movements. His hunger...the pain and hope in his eyes, his desire for love.

His face, his lips...that brow......

The man....

And the mask.

Happy Saturday everybody! It's a rather dreary one here in NY today but that's okay cause I went out last night with some friends and lets just say now I remember why I gave up dinking and leave it at that! Anyway..... I know that POTO was the magic for most of you but with me it was Attila! I never saw Gerry on the big screen til 300! Didn't matter to me...I fell head over heels for him in Attila and like all of you I've been under this Gorgeous, Sweet yet sassy, so very charming and funny ....oh so funny... sexier than sexy, and last but not least absolute brilliant actor's spell ever since! Then I found this site and that was the icing on the cake! I can't think of any better reason not to forget than that! I Luv you all and of course I Luv the man behind the reason that I luv you all!

I love reading about the different ways we've found Gerry. There are so many stories and so many lives that have been impacted. Pretty amazing!

My Gerry moment was the heartstopping instant in POTO as he led Christine down the magical hallway. As he turned his face towards the camera, I could feel my life change. Truly a magical moment in time. :inlove:

And the best part is? Two and a half years later, I still get all tingly when I watch him as Phantom. Only now, I've seen him as the amazing Leonidas, the gentle Stranger, the tortured Johnnie Donne and so many others. I can hardly wait for what is to come. :claphands::claphands::claphands:

My favorite pics of Gerry, though, no matter what the roles that are coming down the road for him, are when he's just being Gerry!

Jill - your moment and mine are the same. In fact in my Ger-allery of pictures I title that screen cap "the first moment".

After that it was watching him on Leno in January and seeing and hearing what a charming, funny, engaging guy he is and I was toast! As for some favorite looks, here are few that give me butteflies:

That one from the Leno show with the shades on... :thud:

It makes me weak. :inlove:

That First Moment indeed. Life changing to be sure. *swoon*

I don't think I've ever, in my life, had a moment like that during a movie.

Where I could feel things actually shift. Hard to explain. Except maybe to another Gerry fan.

Swannie, we have the same flatline moment!!! I know, that's the moment a lot of GALS noticed G, but I still think it was a very special one.

Then I saw him on Leno and thought, *sigh* He's so adorable!!! Ah, memories. Then I bought my first ipod just to listen to POTO at the laundromat. :bonk:

Well, hot pictures of Gerry used to be what the support center was ALL about - every single post had hot and hotter pictures of The G Force himself.

And Jilly - you KNOW that Leno picture has to make ME go weak in the knees since I'm the one he is looking at in it!! I will NEVER, EVER take for granted two of the most amazing minutes in my life. (No, I have never had a child - so I know it can't compare to that, but not having had that experience I can say it about meeting Gerry).

Here are larger versions of both "the first moment" and "Leno shades"

And I love this one where he looks like he has something naughty on his mind!!

Posted Image

And here where he looks so intense, like the Captain of a ship (MY ship!!)

Posted Image

Or here where he is just so young and yummy and cheeky

Posted Image

And here is a picture that has nothing to do with Gerry. These beautiful flowers were along the side of the road, growing on a chainlink fence. I was stopped at the traffic signal and saw them so I pulled out my camera, rolled down my passenger window and shot the picture. I was surprised how well it turned out.

All I can say is I totally agree with everything you said!!!

Although I was a Little late on the bandwagon so to speak. It was still that unforgettable moment when I was watching the POTO DVD and thought "Who is this guy?" And to imagine that came from only seeing 1/2 a face.. Of course I had to find out and have now proceeded to try and see and own every movie I can... I am still a JOTS virgin and several others are unattainable but there is always a possibility.. HINT: Anyone out there willing to send a copy so I can watch and I'll send it right back??? And I have now found that I am not alone in my "lusting" (I'm going to hell for this- according to my SIL).I have also found the most wonderful bunch of GALS who I can now call my true friends. Thank You Gerry and Thank You GALS!!!

Oh Lish, thanks for your delightful photo's. Your little Bryn is so cute and I love that last photo with you and him. So beautiful, both of you.

Nancy, just remember I took a huge gamble last year based on the wonderful time in Vegas, my new friends encouragement and taking a leaf out of Gerry's book. Look how well it worked. So keep positive, it will work out just the way you want, a great job, nice house and friends. Thinking of you each day Mate!!!

As for September and remember, here are my fave's and why I'm Terry's Witch.

Greeting my darlings...I was just thinking about Susan's idea of "Trying to Remember"...and I was meandering around in my folder of stuff I have written about "The Joy Of Gerrrry" :inlove: and I ran across this post from last year regarding Comic Con and some "Naysayers" for lack of a better word.... and I thought, this post pretty much sums up what I feel about Gerry and about what he has brought into the lives of my beloved sister and I... :whome2: Yes, YOU!!!

A Warmest Welcome and Ginormous HUGS to all those who are new to **Gerryland**...I just know that you will feel so much love and friendship as you are embraced into this special FANmily (as my dearest Susan has called it...) :erikrose:

As I have said a zillion times... What a *miracle* :hearts: it has been that we have all been brought together from all corners of this country (and all over the world, for that matter! )to celebrate Gerry and to take into our hearts the wonderful stories that he has told us through his films...and we have been given an even greater gift, we have found that it is really true...*We are ALL connected"...heart to heart ....and we have found that the gift of friendship is one that really does just keep on giving!!!

I know I gush on and on about Gerry and what he means to me and how much the friends I have been blessed with in *Gerry-land* mean to me....but I just wish that I could take all of the love that I have found since coming to *know* my sistahs *here* and bottle it up ~~ because it has brought more joy and healing into my life than I could ever have dreamed of..... :thankyou:

Just a word of explanation about the following post...I sound absolutely GIDDY...and, I guess it is true, so much about Gerry just brings out the Giddy Girl in Gyspsygirl :gerrylicious:

Post to GALS on 7/17/2006 Yo....our "collective" is GOOD....resistance is futile...we WILL overcome the naysayers by the sheer JOY of Life which we have in abundance...we will NOT worry about who is worried about us being too giddy with Life to worry about any of it. Well. i am tired, so this is probably a rambling mess but I think maybe you get my meandering drift!

The baaaad collective: BORG = belligerent ogres resisting giggles

Feeeeel the Force, uh oh I am mixing my metaphors, but, I would probably fit in just fine in the Comic Con Universe in my Yoda costume with Starfleet Insignia.

Ya know what?

I am silly and serious, goofy and I think deep thoughts sometimes....and sometimes, I couldn't find my brain with a map....

I suffer and I rejoice....I live and let live, I pray and praise and laugh until I make those stupid snorting noises ....

I think Gerry is just about the most beautiful hunka burning love that has ever graced a camera lens and I also think he is the kindest, most generous, real, human, spiritual soul-filled-with-JOY that I have ever had the honor of wrapping my arms around....ohhhhhh, what brief and fleeting moments of comfort and compassion were those....

Not to mention his outta-this-stratosphere **alchemy** at telling a STORY...whether it is through a movie, an aching and tortured Phantom's song, a bust-yer-gut, he's *got a million of 'em* stories from his own life..... through which we have had the fantastic privilege of peeking into his world ...as he shares *his heart and soul* in interviews and articles and encounters with fans and soon to be fans around the world.

Through this sweet-and-spicy and naughty and hilarious *pairrrrson* named Gerry Butler, we have mystically and magically and amazingly (in so many cases) found our way to **eachother** and to a connection of *hearts* which uplifts us, and encourages us... which believes in us when we have forgotten who we are and what is beautiful about us.... and which reminds us how freaking good it can feel to be ALIVE.

Thank you to all of you...for your stories, your wild and wacky sense of humour, your refusal to be beaten down by the trials and traumas of this thing called Life, for your courage and your compassionate and sensitive souls, for your prayers and concern and care for those who just need to reach out and feel someone reaching back....

I love you for your JOY...and for accepting that I am not just one thing, I am many colors and shades and shadows and my heart holds onto a glittering Light...filled with burning, dazzling, shooting stars of Passion for Living every moment, for grabbing every bit of Life while I still have the breath in me to do it.

Thank you Susan and AG and all the scrappin' sistahs....No matter WHAT might try to hold me back or run me over,I am still making some ART, dammit...and it has piles and truckloads of GLITTER all over it!!!!!

In a Giddy Glitter state of Bliss...

I love ya more than chocolate....and that is saying something!

Wow, so many stories of how we

found our wonderful Gerry..

I love to read about them.

In my case I am afraid its just a copy

of so many others.

I went to the show to see this guy named

Gerard Butler. Who the heck was he anyway,

and what made him think he could be a better

Phantom than my current hottie Hugh Jackman.

Well one look at that face leading Christine down

that corridor and I was done. By the end of the

movie I was lost in his eyes, his acting, his face,

his voice, well you get the idea.

That was over three years ago and to this day

every picture I see of him makes my heart leap

just like the first time. :heat: :tasty:

Add to that his smile, giggle, story telling, heart,

I could go on and on but wont. You all know how

we feel....... :whome2: :mopboyerik: :woah:

Then there are all the wonderful friends I have

met at this site and other gatherings.

I am a happy camper when I am here.

Love to you all
