Recommended Posts

WELCOME to the 28th floor of the 2nd highrise of our clinic! We only have 41 floors to go to reach 69 again!

Registration for the 3rd Annual Gerard Butler Fan Convention in Las Vegas is now open and we need to rev it up and get the word out to all those amazing Gerry fans that this is THE PRIMO event of the year. With our theme of Vintage Hollywood you know there is going to be glamour to the max, and with even bigger and better things planned for 2008 it is really a NOT-TO-BE-MISSED time filled with laughs and love and lots of FUN. So empower yourself, and come party with the GALS and other Gerry fans from around the globe - and DO IT IN STYLE!! Let's use this floor to glorify the man who brought us all together to begin with,

:erikrose: :reddeathsword: :whome2: :mopboymarek: :mopboyattila: :leochest: :wow2:

and also to talk about how EXCITED we are to go to Vegas again (or for the first time)!! I know that everyone will be giving it :tens: and you don't want to miss out. And remember, only here do we also have a VIRTUAL convention, so that those who just can't make it to Vegas will STILL be able to party from right in front of their own computer. We don't want anyone to feel left out or left behind.

AND NOW.... the original thread.

Being the compassionate person that I am, I can recognize a cry for help when I see one. Having said that, I have decided to start a new support group for those of us with Gerry Addicted Lust Syndrome – from now on, all with Gerry Addicted Lust Syndrome with be known as GALS.

This group is open to all GALS and non-GALS alike who believe they are in serious need of support and guidance as they realize how serious their addiction has become. This is not a support group which advocates traditional intervention, as the failure rate would be astronomical, but merely a group whom you can turn to who share in your addictions or withdrawals, whichever the case may be. Some of the signs that you have GALS include, but are not limited to:

1. You buy every magazine on the rack looking for photos or articles of Gerry and start to get the jitters when there has been no sign of him for weeks.

2. You drive 500 miles to see a Gerry movie.

3. Your significant other (or just someone you're dating) gives you stark reminders they are SOOOO NOT Gerry.

4. Co-workers, friends and/or family start teasing you for your addiction – people can be so cruel...

5. You become addicted to caffeine because you can’t pull yourself away from GALS...."'cause just MAYBE he'll be on Chat tonight."

6. You obsess with much glee, "Gerry has a computer...and he knows how to use it!!!!"

7. You find yourself asking aloud, "Did he REALLY mean what he said about the 3:00 a.m. thing and does he REALLY wear a size 11 shoe?" Then smile broadly.

8. You catch yourself speaking in a Scottish accent for no apparent reason.

9. You change the decor in your bathroom to accommodate your new yellow towels.

10. The "G-Spot" takes on a whole new meaning.

11. You spend days wondering why a Scot would be named "Andre."

12. You buy “Mrs. Brown” just for the skinny-dipping scene and play that one scene in slow mo and super slow mo, over and over and over again. (Okay, so maybe that was just me.) :D

13. You have a picture of Gerry in your wallet, and refer to him as “your man, Gerry.”

14. You spend your hard-earned cash assigned for other “non-essential” items (phone bill, power bill, etc.) on essential Gerry related items.

15. You go shopping for your “real-life” man and finding yourself thinking, “OMG!!! Gerry would look so :censored: hot in that!!!

16. You have to buy a new hard drive to accommodate all your pics and videos of Gerry.

17. You search through a couple hundred $5.50 DVDs at Wal-Mart because an employee said Dracula 2K might be there.

18. You can't possibly walk past Starbucks without dreaming that maybe... *sighs*

19. You refer to the Gerry wallpaper on your computer as your “happy place.”

20. While looking up at the clouds you SWEAR there's a cloud in the shape of a "G"...funny thing is, the GAL next to you sees the same thing!!!

21. Multiples (Gerrygasms) are an every day occurrence!!!

This list will continue to grow as you tell me your addictions...

Below is a very simple 10-step program to help foster our addiction.

1. You must admit you have GALS. This is so important to further your addiction. Yes, this support group wants to nourish your addiction, not starve it. We are here for you.

2. Come to believe the Great and Powerful Gerry is greater than ourselves and only our visions and/or fantasies can keep us addicted. To truly become addicted, however, one must at one time in ones life made the Gerry Mecca Journey (GMJ) and meet him in person.

3. Make a decision to turn our will and lives over to our addiction to Gerry.

4. Make a searching and fearless immoral inventory of our fantasies of Gerry.

5. Lend your support to those who have GALS, but are yet unable to admit it.

6. Watch every movie (more than once) in which Gerry has a role. To be truly addicted, you must develop a love of all Gerry genres (yes, this includes “Tale of the Mummy” and “Dracula 2000”).

7. Frequently quote lines from Gerry films. Memorize them, use them, replace old phrases with new Gerry lines. This will prove to all your serious commitment to your addiction.

8. Know Gerry’s biography better than you know your own. True GALS will know all Gerry’s trivia. Study it, soak it in, become one with Gerry's biography.

9. Give generously (money folks) to the website which has fostered your addictions and allowed your fantasies to take flight.

10. Convert all who are convertible to this syndrome. This is the true mark of GALS. Do not judge - for your next recruit may be your boss!

As this is a relatively new Syndrome, the above guidelines are subject to editing, amending or scrapping all together as we GALS deem necessary.

The first step to true addiction is to admit you have GALS!! I will begin the group.

"My name is Dr. Em and I have GALS."

All are welcome to join in our group. GALS, we must not suffer in silence!!! We now have a voice!!! Let it be heard!

*Disclaimer: We GALS appreciate not only Gerry’s royal hotness for which there is no rival, we indeed, also recognize his abundance of talent, soul, passion, spirit, sense of style and humor, sincerity...can I stop now? Our addictions are all-encompassing and we embrace Gerry EVERY WHICH WAY WE CAN!!!*

To Cleobethra for our “Warning Label.”

I am most definitely looking forward to meeting up with all my GALS and meeting up with new ones. It's always amazing who you meet up with and how close you become afterwards.

I'm excited about the contests we have...the talent show, the video contests, the raffles and auctions, all for a good cause, near and dear to us.

I'm ready to boogie down with the GALS and maybe a few of the hubbies, too!

This will be the best one yet!

Yes, Barb will be conducting the Virtual Convention again for 2008, and we are all working on ideas that will make that as special as possible so those who can't physically be in Las Vegas will feel as much a part of the convention as possible.

Frannie, on the way to Vegas, why don't you fly into San Antonio. Elissa and I will meet up with you and we can all fly to Vegas together! We can sit you between us and tell such awful jokes that we'll be in Vegas before you can start to worry about flying! C'mon, It'll be fun!!

I had my mammogram today and it wasn't as bad as I had feared. At least I can still use both arms. I kept thinking about Elissa's experience the whole time, but the tech was really very well trained and professional and she kept discomfort to a minimum. Thank you, God!!

By the way, if any of you are reading the Black Dagger Brotherhood series by JR Ward, the newest one is VERY good...only it has a weird ending. I enjoyed it.

My ice cream alarm has gone off, so I'm off in search of Strawberries and Cream Gelato.

Huggles to everyone!

This may be TMI for some, but there is (or was) an "adult film" star named Jerry Butler. Maybe he's one of those Mac tool guys now!

Peak-a-boo!

Thought I'd drop in for a moment and tell you all how FRIGGIN EXCITED I am about Vegas!

This is going to be so very cool and I just wish each and every Gerry Fan could make it!

I, too, have to drop a few pounds as I couldn't get into the gown I REALLY wanted to wear this year. I was so obsessive about exercising and then I got really sick and couldn't exercise and then *poof* there went my motivation. I'm SUPER good about exercising when I'm infatuated with someone...hummmmm...maybe I could just use someone to help me lose weight. Where IS Gerry when I need him? Maybe I should call it the "Gerard Butler Diet" *giggles*

Anyway, hope to see you all in VEGAS BABY! Its gonna rock your world!

:hugs:

P.S. Please tell Nancy  from me!

Dayna, you should should join us in the get healthy for Vegas Blogs! BTW, you were gorgeous in Vegas!

I've been maintaining my weight loss, but after the holidays, I intend to kick it up a notch and lose a bit more by Vegas '08.

It's a little rough now, with our house all torn up, but the carpet and floors will be installed in 3 weeks, and then I'll have my nordic track back up!

I'm excited to see that some of our newer GALS are signing up to go!

Big hugs to all the GALS!

Hi Suzie, got the latest Lover Unbound and read it in 24 hours. Its the best series. Maybe we should start a thread for those who are/have read them. Yes, ending was weird but I think Manolo will become a new Brother don't you.

To all having surgery, best of luck and good health and Huggles.

Dayna!!!!! Nice to see you here. Looking forward to catching up again.

As for Vegas, I'm excited already and 9 months to go.... but it will go quickly.

 to all here in the Support Center!

I was on the fence about Vegas only because of BIG changes on the horizon for the family. Two kids graduating high school and moving off to college, possible move out of state, etc. etc. The thought of one more thing to plan was making my head :stars: But then, as more and more folks started talking about it, I couldn't resist any longer. So ka-ching, there goes my deposit!!

Hey Cat? I seem to recall your deciding to go was the kick in the arse I needed back in 2006 and I think you did it again!! I can still remember so clearly stepping off that plane by myself and debating buying an immediate return ticket home. I couldn't believe I was doing something like that all by myself. But after hearing Cat's wonderful voice on the phone and then finding Football Princess Pam out by the pool, I knew I had made the right choice. I truly had the time of my life that weekend. Last year too of course, but that 2006 convention will always be special because of the fear that I overcame to do something like that on my own.

Can't wait to hug in person all the folks I've come to know through GALS!! :D

Oh Jilly, that was exactly how I felt in 2006 too....I couldn't believe I was traveling by myself to Las Vegas to meet up with a bunch of ladies I had never met in person (oh...and yeah, my hubby and son didn't help matters any....they kept saying "are you nuts????" :rotflmao: But needless to say, I was soooo glad I took that leap of faith. I'm officially registered for 2008 now and so the time to get off my butt and exercise and lose weight is going to be my motivation. So from now on....IT'S VEGAS BABY! Posted Image

Dayna, here's some motivation for you dear:

Paige honey....I didn't get in on time on the last floor to say "YES, I missed you! And study hard and do well this year in school!"

Frannie, are you really, REALLY going to come to the convention? I'm so serious about you taking a week or two longer and coming up north to stay with me!!!! I mean if you're going to get in an airplane you might as well make it last a while longer!

Jenniper, yesterday was great dear! Thanks! It's so much fun to get together with someone who understands me!

I never did get to tell all of you that God is already answering our prayers. When we went down to the bay area this weekend we swooped up B2 (of course) and headed to Ron and Sherry's house. Ron had decided, based on what the doctors had told him, to forego chemo and radiation and just enjoy as much quality of life as he had left. Well, it turns out that one of the people that go to our old church (Ron and Sherry's church too) is an oncologist for the air force and works at David Grant Hospital. She heard about Ron and asked him if he would mind if she contacted Kaiser Hospital and got Ron's records to review. By the time we got down there this past weekend she had reviewed his records and charts and talked Ron into at least trying radical radiation and chemo. She described all the different ways they could try and treat this. She was honest and told Ron that it would not be a cure but that it could extend his life four or five years. So Ron is at least going to start treatment and if it is too hard on him than he will stop....but at least he is going to try and where there is life there is hope!

Ron and Dan took off for a few hours in Ron's old classic car and Sherry, B2 and I stayed home and talked about the future....it was great therapy for all of us I think. So anyway, thank you again for your love and prayers my friends.

Jilly, I can't wait to finally give you a hug in person either! But who knows maybe....just maybe we will hook up before than (when you're passing through Redding...hint, hint).

There ya go Sue! We'll keep the prayers and all the positive energy going Ron's way.

Things can turn for the better very quickly with just a grain of sand's amount of faith. It's an empowering thing to be able to choose the way your treatment is going to go, makes it far easier to deal with in the long run.

I can't wait to meet all the GALS here in person, Really looking forward to Las Vegas!

Hiya!

Oh Sue, that promising news. Like others have said, only God knows how much time we all have.

Dr. Em came in? Hide me, quick!

I had to come into the office two hours early today...do you know how tired I am right now? I hate these early morning meetings, because it really all comes down on me. Luckily it wasn't a pick on me day. YUCK! It was, "Could you do this?" and "Could you do that?" I'm sure I gave my boss the dirtiest look I could give a man. It's been quite stressful these few days and to have to remember all that he wants me to, and deal with the problems outside his demands...and it's just little ole me to deal with it. Of course I'm ticked off. This is not a one person job, but it has been for three years...

You know, it would be nice if he'd pick up his phone after I tried calling him all afternoon! My job would be less hectic.

Weirdest thing...we were going over some paperwork, and I looked at a cost of something and said, "That must be a typo." My boss questioned me, "What does that mean?" I looked at him strangely and said, "A mistake...you've never heard that before?" I was dumbfounded...did I say something that is out of the norm? Let me know, and I'll change my vocabulary.

Just blowing off steam...

No Alice, "typo" is definitely common! WEIRD...! Blow off all the steam you'd like... in fact, with the colder weather it'll feel good, lol!

Sue, I'm SO glad to hear about Ron... hopefully it'll help.

Jill, I'm SO glad that you didn't turn right around and go home in 2006!! After all, who else would have had all those vocal reactions next to me while watching B&G? And your fateful question on Saturday morning about the correct pronounciation of my screen name! Hooray for memories!!

Iliessa...I still get a kick out of your avatar! :rotflmao:

I agree with Mel, Alice. Typo is a pretty common word in my neck of the woods as well.

Maybe your boss just never makes mistakes and has never experienced one.

:rotflmao: As if.... :bonk:

Mel, I don't know what you're talking about. I was totally and perfectly controlled that entire movie.

*dodges ginormous lighting bolts appearing mysteriously in the sky*

As to the conversation... Well, we ALL know now that your name is correctly prounounced A-brrrrrrock (long "A" of course) But it was pretty funny that I had just asked you that morning. *giggle*

Continued prayers to your family and to your friend, Ron, Sue. Positive thoughts headed is way. :kisswink:
