Dance the night away in Vegas!

Recommended Posts

All I ask is that we have some modern-day stuff thrown in. I cant deal with disco all night long.

No worries, there will be a wide variety of dance music from many different eras! :)

I wish I was going but of course it's impossible this year. A little suggestion to sort of boost an ice breaker for the dancing. I saw a lot of ladies the past two years sitting out and not dancing. I know some are not comfortable w/dancing in public formats but it's supposed to be fun so why not get out and do your thang ala a Soul Train line. That way you can root on the un-shy participants and encourage the wallflowers to get out there and dance. You never know, it could be fun. If I were going I would be all about a Soul Train Line. Plus it's a way to let your hair down even more and ham it up. If I were a wallflower (I'm so not) I would really like the encouragement as I'm dancing down the line. Just a thought.

I think shyness wasn't the main problem last year Cassie with people dancing, at least the second night. The first night we had good music just not enough time to dance. Second night there were those other issues, mostly DJ related. But I think some kind of congo line/soul train thing would be fun and a great way to involve those who aren't initially joiners but if given a nudge will jump in.

Did you miss the "dance line" we did with "Flat Gerry" in 06?! I seem to recall a limbo line involving Flat Gerry, too... Let's see ... then there was lap dancing with Flat Gerry ...

As for 07 ... well, let's just say it was a "learning experience" and leave it at that.

08 is GUARANTEED to be BETTER!

Great idea to ask for song requests!

"Everyone Have fun Tonight" by Wang Chung

"SOS" by Rihanna

"Funky Town" by Lipps Inc

"Jump (for my love)" by Pointer Sisters

"Der Kommissar" by After the Fire

"I Feel Good (I Got You)" by James Brown

That line dancing was pretty fun, too, a couple years ago. I can't remember if we did it last year.

and gotta play...

"Let's Get the Party Started" by Pink

WendyKate

Elvis Presley: A Little Less Conversation

A little less conversation, a little more action please

All this aggravation aint satisfactioning me

A little more bite and a little less bark

A little less fight and a little more spark

Close your mouth and open up your heart and baby satisfy me

Satisfy me baby

Baby close your eyes and listen to the music

Drifting through a summer breeze

Its a groovy night and I can show you how to use it

Come along with me and put your mind at ease

WOW!!! Gotta have it please!

Ok, here's the list of requests for 2008 in no particular order, with a copy of that 3 am song:

http://www.greyeyegoddess.com/dancelist.html

Don't mind the different colors.

And the next list is what I have, but I'm still digging through things right now, and people are sending music to me. I'll be updating it even until we're in Vegas. We'll have a request binder or clipboard for songs, just in case.

This is only for the dancing time, not background music.

If you are coming and want to bring music through cd, mp3 players, whatever can be transferred to a computer, bring it. The more the merrier.

I WANNA GO TO VEGAS TOO!!!!!!!

Even though I'm not going, I'd like to contribute some songs for your list - if they get played, think of me, all sad not to be with you but happily toasting you to have a good time over all the length of the weekend!! I hope you all have a really great time!!

:partytime:

Great choice WendyKate! Pink should really get the party started!!!

It looks like you are really going to burn up the dance floor!! Who suggested Buttons by the Pussy Cat Dolls???? I have this on my ipod to practise B Dancing, and sometimes I feel like I should be sliding up and down a pole rather than trying to shoogle (scottish word meaning "to shake") my hips!!! Very hot - especially if it's the version with Snoop Dogg (the best IMHO!!)

Anyway, pondering on Scottish bands/singers, I came up with Jimmy Sommerville (of Bronski Beat and Communards) You might still class it as disco, although their version of this one in particular was a big hit in 1986, which means that if Gerry was a dancing teenager, he almost certainly danced to Wee Jimmy .....

Don't Leave Me This Way :

Non - Scottish, but quite good to dance to energetically I think, and I don't think I saw this one on the list :

Madonna - Ray of Light :

And one of my favourites to dance to, not quite as hot as Buttons, but very slinky .... but not TOO slinky without a guy dancing with you, if you know what I mean!!! :

Santana - Smooth, featuring Rob Thomas :

And one last one from the eighties (I seem to be stuck there, like many others!) At one point in time everyone, or so it seemed, started their party off with this one : (But I still think Pink is better!!)

http://youtube.com/watch?v=_zm4rwR3lRc

I will be with you in spirit, boogying my *** off!!

So, just in case I don't get back before you all go off next week, I wish you all a blast, and please please everyone takes loads of pics so the rest of can see what a good time was had!!

Awww...thanks...but hold on to your congrats until after the show.

I found a couple of lists that should help out a lot...(thinking, why didn't I google search before???)

http://www.kevincolangelo.com/music1.html

And we've been working our fingers off, downloading, uploading music galore.

The list is updating continuously. We'll definitely have a lot of music to boogie to, or relax to, which ever way we are going.

Again, don't mind the different colors. It's my personal markings of whether I have them or found them. It doesn't mean anything else.

(Man, I love the internet!)

 Hi! It's me again!

Just thought of the song that Gerry most probably got his "lame pickup line" from (some people just don't see his humour, ever) by Pink : "U and Ur Hand" .... It might make people laugh, if not dance!

"Cause you know it's over before it began - keep your drink just give me the money - it's just you and your hand tonight!" (at 3 am, of course!) I still think that was meant as an inside joke just for us fans "in the know"! :)

http://youtube.com/watch?v=_T8o_iTeDUs

Those lists look uber-cool Alice!!!!! :pointy: You and Mel take care of those fingers now!
