First film will be Wimmer's 'Law Abiding Citizen'
By TATIANA SIEGEL

Gerard Butler has launched the production shingle Evil Twins with his longtime manager, Alan Siegel.

Their first project is the psychological thriller "Law Abiding Citizen," which the duo are producing for Mark Gill, Neil Sacker and Robert Katz's the Film Department.

Butler will star as a successful assistant D.A. who finds himself at the center of a vigilante plot hatched by a traumatized victim of the legal system.

Kurt Wimmer ("The Thomas Crown Affair") wrote the screenplay. Warp Films' Lucas Foster and Wimmer are also producing. Shooting will begin in the summer.

Butler and Siegel, who have worked together for 11 years, have several projects in development at Evil Twins. They will produce "Hanging Tale," penned by Danny Rubin, with Lightstorm Entertainment; and "Teacher Man," based on Frank McCourt's novel. Ronald Bass is adapting as well as producing; Howard and Karen Baldwinalso produce.

"We're thrilled at the opportunity that Gerry's career has given us to make our own films," Siegel said.

Danielle Robinson has been named director of development for the banner.

Butler, who starred in "300" and "P.S. I Love You," will soon begin production on romantic comedy "The Ugly Truth," opposite Katherine Heigl. He recently wrapped the futuristic action film "Game." He next appears in "Nim's Island" and Guy Ritchie's "RocknRolla."

This is SOOOO COOOOL!!!!!

After successfully helming a few well-done films, this should allow Evil Twins to secure financing and studio backing to produce Burns!!! At least, I'm fairly certain that this is part of Gerry's plan.

It'll be great to see Gerry take on some additional roles in filmmaking. What's next in his master plan? Can anyone say Director?

That would seem like the next step for a busy actor...producing the kind of work you want to do. I am excited to see those jobs.

CONGRATULATIONS GERRY AND ALAN!

I've always known that with Gerry's intelligence he would do more in his life. When I became aware that he was one of the producers of "Wrath of Gods" I knew what his thinking was. Gerry likes to control his life himself and this is one way he can do it. Good for you, Gerry! Wishing you and Alan much success! :gameon:

You could almost hear the gears grinding in the "extra" material on WOG and Shattered. More between the ears than your average actor ... oh yeah! :wuv:Posted Image

You take your chances Gerry... we'll be there to support every one of them!

I couldn't be happier for him. Gerry's life experiences are all coming into play now... and he will no doubt prove to be a savvy business man.

I love the title Evil Twin Productions. It's like the joke is on everyone else. More power to them as they become business moguls! (remember the matching suits at the MTV awards?) ahahahahahaha...... NOW we get it!

 I forgot that Swannie. They looked like twins. That is too funny. They must have been getting ready for their new title.

Personally, I'm disappointed to see Gerry attached to Alan in such a way. Alan is very disrespectful to us fans. I'm not at all convinced that Alan understands who is buttering the bread -- especially after the last public debacle with CUT. I'm glad to see Gerry stretching his wings, that's for sure. I'm just not excited to learn he's bedded down with Alan.

Yeah it was kind of weird at the time.... but now I think it was their own private joke, and kind of a parody of "Twins" with Arnold and Danny Devito!

I wonder which one of them came up with that idea??? ahahahahah

Sqqquuueeeeee!!!!! OMG Im so Excited! This is such wonderful news for Gerry. I always wondered when he would open up a production company of his own like so many other celebs have. And what a great name too!!

Evil Twins....I like it!!! :D

Im def also looking forward to 'Law Abiding Citizen'.....that genre is one of my favs....so yay!!! and I agree that opening up this production company could be just the thing that would provide enough finances to FINALLY produce 'Burns'.....*crosses fingers*

Congrats Gerry!! Im so proud of you!!

This is SO wonderful, and I am just thrilled for Gerry and Alan, and I love the title EVIL TWINS.

Now, can anyone fill me in on exactly what the producers of a film project do? I expect the

involvement varies, and ranges anywhere from choosing a project and procuring financing,

to direct involvement in the making of the film. I always wanted to know just how that works.

And those of you who are worried, don't forget the promise Gerry made to us in his phone call

before "300." He said he would NEVER forget us, even after the movie came out (and made him

a star--he was trying to find the words to say that without sounding conceited.) The man we

have come to know will not forget us, but we just might not get as much acknowledgement

as his star rises even higher. I think there will always be a part of Gerry who will be thrilled

to see a "face in the crowd" that he recognizes. I think he will remember the POTO days and

this legion of fans with great fondness--he just won't have as much time to spend thinking

about it!!

What wonderful news--EVIL TWINS PRODUCTIONS---wow!!
