Gerry singing to you . . .

Recommended Posts

Okay, I'm not a newbie but I still gush over him like nobody's business. So, I stole this question from somewhere else, and I'm hoping some of the long-timers will chime in as well, since we have a thread about what we would cook for him . . .

Okay, if you could have Gerry sing to you, what song would it be?

ETA: No POTO or any other song that we've already heard him sing. That's cheating, and way too obvious!

:hearts: My choice would be "I'll Be Your Crying Shoulder".

Hmmm....... this is going to take some thought. I have a whole head filled with songs that remind me of him not to mention a few CDs.

The too obvious choice would be Music of the Night, sung softly in my ear as he holds me close. Wow! is it hot in here? :heat:

After going through my media player, I think it would have to be Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol. I can see him Posted Imagethat

I can go in two ways here - if it was just Gerry and me alone I'd like him to put on his great acting chops and sing "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" to me as if he really meant it, even if just for those couple of minutes it would take for him to sing it.

But if it was in a more public place, like a karaoke bar, "Light My Fire" would light MY fire, no doubt about it! I am so bummed we have never been able to hear vocals of the time he sang it in Italy because all you hear is the voiceover of the entertainment reporter. Bad girl, talking over Gerry's singing!

But I can tell you what would absolutely SLAY me, stop my heart and make me die the happiest woman on Earth, would be having a private duet sung to me, by Gerry and Hugh Jackman. Maybe they could do "To All the Girls I've Loved Before"!!

Susan

Gerry and Hugh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!sigh. Trying to imagine that now :wuv:

Now for songs there are a few. You do Something to Me by Paul Weller. When You Say You Love Me or You Are Loved by Josh Groban. But the song that would be so apt and so like Gerry himself is Feel by Robbie Williams. If you listen to the words it has Gerry written all over it.

DING! DING! DING! We have a winner!

I know you said "No POTO songs," but I'm sorry -- MOTN has changed my life and that's the only one for me.

Of course, he could sing the phone book to me and it would be just as "satisfying." :cunning:

I liked when he did his Barry White imitation in a 300 interview! Any Scottish song would be wonderful. Most Rod Stewart songs. Gerry reminds me of Jim Morrison so some Doors songs would be good. WOW! I'll give this some more thought & get back to you.

I think he could sing anything and I'd be satisfied, but "Love You Til the End" would be good.

Still new here but will share my favo's

I would love to hear him sing...At Last-Etta James.Although I have would want to save that for my wedding...if I ever get married.

But would be great to hear him sing that.

Or Ave Maria..Josh Grobin style.(maybe under the shower..LOL) :hmm:

Or a nice song of Coldplay.

Oh who am I kidding, any song will do if he is willing to sing it for me....and me alone.

I'm a sucker for Galway Girl. That was a great song for Gerry's voice.

I agree with Galway girl...love that song and loved the way he sang it

Ooh, which one? I haven't seen it.

Everyone has such great ideas and fantasies. We really are imaginative (well, some of us  ). I'm sure there are more, but I'm still sticking with original one. I watched "A Cinderella Story" the other day and heard it again. I swear that song makes me cry just listening to it ("I'll Be Your Crying Shoulder") so to hear Gerry sing it to ME, would probably make me pass right out.

You do Something to Me by Paul Weller.

Moira

YES!!!!! Oh Moira, Paul Weller is like the ultimate to me. I absolutely LOVE him! Well, next to Morrissey. Right ON woman! ~SIGH~

I just thought of a song that would be very interesting to hear Gerry sing and unconventional. I'm going 80's here w/one of my fav bands from the 80's - Violent Femmes - "Add it Up". Can you imagine Gerry singing these lyrics to you...

Why can't I get just one kiss

Why can't I get just one kiss

There may be something that I wouldn't miss

But I look at your pants and I need a kiss

Why can't I get just one screw

Why can't I get just one screw

Believe me I know what to do

But something won't let me make love to you

Darn it! It was totally Point of No Return with me, No One would listen or Music of The Night.

Let me think.

Like red on a rose

When your lips first smiled at me

I was captured instantly

To each his own

Like blue in the sky

The gaze of your willing eyes

Touched something deep inside

The truth be known

That I love you like all little children love pennies

And I love you ‘cause I know that I can’t do anything wrong

You’re where I belong

Like red on a rose

And I love you like all little children love pennies

And I love you like good times of which I’ve known many

And I love you ‘cause I know you give me a heart of my own

You make my blood flow

Like red on a rose

It's an Alan Jackson song, but I am sure Gerry could put his own spin on it.

Love,

Tracy :kisswink:

hmmm....really if I had the opportunity,it would be me who would love to sing to him.

But I would say if I had to pick a song for him to sing to me, it would be something by Josh Grobin...something like 'Remember me' or 'You Raise Me Up'

Honestly, though he could sing the phonebook to me, and I could die happy.

Hanging by a moment (Lifehouse)

Desperate for changing

Starving for truth

I'm closer to where I started

Chasing after you

I'm falling even more in love with you

Letting go of all I've held onto

I'm standing here until you make me move

I'm hanging by a moment here with you

Forgetting all I'm lacking

Completely incomplete

I'll take your invitation

You take all of me now...

I'm falling even more in love with you

Letting go of all I've held onto

I'm standing here until you make me move

I'm hanging by a moment here with you

I'm living for the only thing I know

I'm running and not quite sure where to go

And I don't know what I'm diving into

Just hanging by a moment here with you

There's nothing else to lose

There's nothing else to find

There's nothing in the world

That can change my mind

There is nothing else

There is nothing else

There is nothing else

Desperate for changing

Starving for truth

I'm closer to where I started

Chasing after you....

Just hanging by a moment (here with you)

Hanging by a moment (here with you)

Hanging by a moment here with you

Or You are so beautiful to me (Joe Cocker).

On the other hand, he could be singing the phone book to me and I'd still :swoon:

We're all in agreement that Gerry could sing the phone book to any one of us and we'd :thud: .

I thought of a couple more I would love to have him sing to me: "Always" by Bon Jovi, and "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing" by Aerosmith.

False Lover Won Back (Bonnie Love)

The sun shines high on yonder hill

And low in yonder dell

The place where me and my love dwell

The sun it never goes doon, bonnie love

The sun it never goes doon

Go saddle to me the bonnie black stead

Go saddle to me the broon

That I may ride all aroon, bonnie love

That I may ride all aroon, bonnie love

That I may ride all aroon

It's when will ye be back, bonnie love

It's when will ye be hame

When the heather hills are nine time brunt

And all grown green again...

O that's o'er lang tae bid awa

That's o'er lang frae hame

The baby that's nae born yet

Will be o'er lang wantin his name...

He turned aboot his high horse heid

And fast awa rode he

And she kilted up her gay clothing

And fast, fast followed she...

Noo the firsten toon that they cam to

He bocht her some hose and sheen

And he bade her rue and return noo

And nae mair follow him...

It's love for love that I do want

Love for love again

It's hard when I loe ye sae weel

And ye nae me again...

The neesten toon that they cam to

He bocht her a brooch and ring

And he bade her rue and return noo

And nae mair follow him...

It's love for love that I do want

Love for love again

It's hard when I loe ye sae weel

And ye nae me again....

The neesten toon that they cam to

He bocht her a weddin ring

And he bade her dry her rosy cheeks

And he would tak her wi him...

It's love for love that I do want

Love for love again

And there's nane but ye for me, bonnie love

There's nane but you for me...

There's comfort for the comfortless

and honey for the bee

And there's nane for you but me, bonnie love

There's nane for you but me...

It's love for love that I hae got

Love for love again

so turn your high horse heid aboot

And we will ride for hame...
