Gerry singing to you . . .

Recommended Posts

I wish I knew how to make videos too Andrea!! Morrison Hotel was my favourite! I loved Queen of the Highway, but just couldn't understand th elyrics - any enlightenment would be appreciated! "Save the blind tiger" .......?

I'm sorry, Sorsha, I didn't see your post before today. Who can make sense of Jim Morrison's lyrics most of the time? Not I! I just love to hear him sing--such a beautiful, rich baritone (like someone else we know :wuv: ). And he was pretty easy on the eyes before he let himself go. :yummy: I'd love to hear Gerry sing The Crystal Ship, too. "Before you slip into unconsciousness, I'd like to have another kiss, another flashing chance at bliss. Another kiss..." :thud:

My Confession by Josh Groban would be the first one. Here are the lyrics.

I have been blind unwilling,

to see the true love your giving.

I have ignored every blessing.

I'm on my knees confessing.

That I feel myself surrender each time I see your face.

I am staggered by your beauty, your unassuming grace.

I feel my heart falling into place.

I can't hide it now hear my confession.

I have been wrong about you.

Thought I was strong without you.

For so long nothing could move me.

For so long nothing could change me.

'Cause I feel myself surrender each time I see your face.

I am captured by your beauty, your unassuming grace.

I feel my heart falling into place.

I can't hide it now hear my confession.

You are the air that I breathe,

You're the ground beneath my feet.

When did I start believing?

'Cause I feel myself surrender each time I see your face.

I am captured by your beauty, your unassuming grace.

I feel my heart falling into place.

I can't hide it now hear my confession. :heat:

Then I would love to here Gerry sing this:

L is for the way you look at me.

O is for the only one I see.

V is very, very extraordinary.

E is even more than any one that I adore.

And love is all that I can give to you,

Love is more than just a game for two.

Two in love can make it

Take my heart and please don't break it.

Love was made for me and you.

Followed by The Thought Of You by Frank Sinatra:

The very thought of you

and I forget to do

the little ordinary things that everyone ought to do.

I'm living in a kind of daydream

and I'm happy as a king.

And foolish though it may seem

to me that's just the thing.

The mere idea of you,

the longing here for you,

you'll never know how slow the moments go till I'm near to you.

I see you face in every flower.

Your eyes in stars above.

It's just the thought of you,

the very thought of you my love. :swoon:

At least that I what I would like to hear Gerry sing to me privately :cunning: . He could sing anything to me and I would die happy. :thud:

 Hi again!

I can only imagine the feeling if Gerry sang (looking into my eyes, of course) the Bryan Adams song from Don Juan Di Marco, "Have You Ever Really Loved A Woman?"

To really love a woman, to understand her

You gotta know her deep inside.

Hear every thought, see every dream

And give her wings when she wants to fly.

Then when you find yourself lying helpless in her arms,

You know you really love a woman

When you love a woman, you tell her that she's really wanted

When you love a woman, you tell her that she's the one

She needs somebody to tell her that its gonna last forever

So tell me have you really, really ever loved a woman?

To really love a woman you let her hold you

Until you know how she needs to be touched

You gotta breathe her, really taste her

Till you can feel her in your blood

When you can see your unborn children in her eyes

You know you really love a woman

There is more, but I have to go soon .... All this to the most divine guitar too!! (No, Gerry it really doesn't have to be you playing it, darling, just sing .....)

Heaven

Lisa, I don't know what Jim Morrison's grave looks like. I've always heard that there are *always* *hordes* of tourists around it, and I didn't want to be one, it would have felt a little bit goulish .... Maybe on a very rainy day, I will go when there may not be a crowd (yes, even after all these years there are always flowers and a crowd!!)- I'll put a flower for you too - until you can come and do it yourself :) (I'd LOVE to see you here!!!)

Sorsha:

I would love to come to Paris, but sadly, it's just too expensive right now to travel! But he's buried at Pere' La Chaise, and there is always a huge pilgrimage of fans. I think - I think - it's been restored but I'm not sure. If you do go, PLEASE put a flower for me!!! :thankyou: I wish he had stayed around long enough to know how much he really WAS appreciated. He never knew . . . :crybaby:

I've been to Jim Morrison's grave in Paris and it wasn't what I expected. It has been moved a couple times before I saw it so I believe it's still in the same spot. I know the lease was up on the spot a couple years ago so I'm not sure what is the status. Weird how they have leases on burial plots. Anyhoo, it was quite basic but his headstone was missing. That was stolen some years ago by a fan. There was graffati all over it and cigarette butts and wrappers. Actually, when my hubby and I got there, we encountered about 8 French teens sitting in his grave smoking and drinking. I told them to stop being disrespectful and move it along. Hey, I can be tough when I need to be and they knew I wasn't kidding so they moved it along. They were speaking a few choice words to me in French but ahhhh I speak French so I understood what those brats were saying and told them to mind their manners. It's definately worth seeing for a Morrison fan. The entire graveyard is worth seeing it's just massive and very impressive.

As for another song I want him to sing to me in playful manner: "Bump and Grind" by R. Kelly...

I see nothing wrong

With a little bump and grind...

Oh YEAH!!!!!

I got another song I would Love to hear Gerry sing and I think it fits him. It is Michael Buble's I'm Your Man.

Here are the Lyrics

If you want a lover

I'll do anything you ask me to

And if you want another kind of love

I'll wear a mask for you

If you want a partner

Take my hand

Or if you want to strike me down in anger

Here I stand

I'm your man

If you want a boxer

I will step into the ring for you

And if you want a doctor

I'll examine every inch of you

If you want a driver

Climb inside

Or if you want to take me for a ride

You know you can

I'm your man

Ah, the moons too bright

The chains too tight

The beast won't go to sleep

I've been running through these promises to you

That I made and I could not keep

Ah but a man never got a woman back

Not by begging on his knees

Or I'd crawl to you baby

And I'd fall at your feet

And I'd howl at your beauty

Like a dog in heat

And I'd claw at your heart

And I'd tear at your sheet

I'd say please, please

I'm your man

And if you've got to sleep

A moment on the road

I will steer for you

And if you want to work the street alone

I'll disappear for you

If you want a father for your child :gerrygasm:

Or only want to walk with me a while

Across the sand

I'm your man

Ah, the moons too bright

The chains too tight

The beast won't go to sleep

I've been running through these promises to you

That I made and I could not keep

Ah but a man never got a woman back

Not by begging on his knees

Or I'd crawl to you baby

And I'd fall at your feet

And I'd howl at your beauty

Like a dog in heat

And I'd claw at your heart

And I'd tear at your sheet

I'd say please, please

I'm your man

If you want a lover

I'll do anything you ask me to

And if you want another kind of love

I'll wear a mask for you

'Cause I'm your man

Oh and there is this one by Michael Buble:

I've been so many places in my life and time

I've sung a lot of songs and I've made some bad climbs

I've acted out my life in stages with ten thousand people watching

Oh, but we're alone now and I'm singing this song for you

I know your image of me is what I hope to be, I've treated you unkindly

Oh, but Darling can't you see that, there's no one more important to me

Baby, baby, can't you see through me, 'cause we're alone now

And I'm singing this song to you, you taught me precious secrets

Of a true love withholding nothing, you came out in front

When I was hiding, yeah, yeah, but now its so much better

If my words don't quite come together, please listen to the melody

'Cause my love is in there somewhere hiding

I love you in a place where there is no space or time, I love you for my life

You are a friend of mine, and when my life is over

Remember, remember, remember when we were together

And we are alone now, and I was singing this song to you

We were alone, and I was singing, yeah singing

We were alone, and I was singing this song for you

Singing my song, I'm singing my song for you

Now we can't forget about Moondance:

Well, it's a marvelous night for a moondance

With the stars up above in your eyes

A fantabulous night to make romance

'Neath the cover of October skies

And all the leaves on the trees are falling

To the sound of the breezes that blow

And I'm trying to please to the calling

Of your heart-strings that play soft and low

And all the night's magic seems to whisper and hush

And all the soft moonlight seems to shine in your blush

Can I just have one a' more moondance with you, my love

Can I just make some more romance with a-you, my love

Well I wanna make love to you tonight

I can't wait till the morning has come

And I know now the time is just right

And straight into my arms you will run

And when you come my heart will be waiting

To make sure that you're never alone

There and then all my dreams will come true, dear

There and then I will make you my own

Anytime I touch you, you just tremble inside

And I know how much you want me that you can't hide

Can I just have one more moondance with you, my love

Can I just make some more romance with a-you, my love

Well I wanna make love to you tonight

I can't wait till the morning has come

And I know now the time is just right

And straight into my arms you will run

And when you come my heart will be waiting

To make sure that you're never alone

There and then all my dreams will come true, dear

There and then I will make you my own

Anytime I touch you, you just tremble inside

And I know how much you want me that you can't hide

Can I just have one more moondance with you, my love

Can I just make some more romance with a-you, my love

Can I just have one more moondance with you, my love

Can I just make some more romance with you, my love,

my love, my love

I just want one more moondance with you,

Yes I really do

Okay. That is the last one I will post the lyrics to because the rest of the songs I want Gerry to sing are........I'm not going there. I am quitting while I am ahead.

I'm just not much of a jazzy type I'm afraid ..... but I soooo loved the lyrics - what a shame ....

So while I was there at You tube, I listened to my Bryan Adams song - someone did a verrry cute video to it with Johnny Depp (of course), who was already buckling some swash in this movie!!! LOL!

Anyway, if *you're* interested in sultry Flamenco guitar, not to mention Bryan Adam's sultry voice, it is "Bryan Adams & Paco de Lucia - Don Juan de Marco theme" by luisarmondodiazfelix (Ah, guitar! When it's good, it's good. Great guitar is great guitar. When I listen to great guitar, I'm in heaven! :cunning: LOL!) Any kind, electric (Clapton and Knopfler!!) , accoustic, slide, arabic .... (*not* ukelele!) Great guitar = heaven!

So many people really hated "Have you really loved a woman" but I thought it was so simple and sweet. I've always loved it.

I'd love Gerry to sing a lullaby to me just before I try to go to sleep. Thats why I love Music of the Night. Some of it sounds like a lullaby to me which makes me all snuggly! I need a good night's sleep.

Otherwise any Barry White song will do me. "Can't get enough of your love Baby"

Hmmmm oooooo baby.

Hey Winter Angel who do you prefer Michael Buble or Harry Connick Jnr?

But heck yeah, I can hear Gerry singing that!!!! Wow!!! Great lyrics, but it would be better as a soul song!!

Hey Winter Angel who do you prefer Michael Buble or Harry Connick Jnr?

Sorsha,

I am totally into Flamenco Guitar. My Papa, before he passed two years ago today, could play better than any one you have every heard. It is a shame that none of my uncles learned how to play like him. They prefer the Blues or Mariachi style. Not to mention I used to dance flamenco style years ago....ah the memories.

Sorry you don't like Jazz. That song is one of my favorites, especially to dance the Foxtrot.

Charliwantz,

In answer to your question, it depends on the mood I am in. I like both artists. However, I guess you can say that I am partial to MB because my best bud introduced me to his song Moondance long before I heard HCJ. I would totally love to hear HCJ sing I'm Your Man. If you come across it, PLEASE let me know.

Still, my heart stops when I think of Gerry singing I'm Your Man. I listened to it while I was stuck in rush hour on my way home yesterday. I :drool1::thud: behind the wheel when I remembered this thread. It is not, I repeat not, a smart thing to think of G singing to you I'm Your Man while driving. :cunning:

ANNIE!!

He was a Commander of Roman Legions (my heritage!!) not a deranged murderer!!

You missed the premise that he was royally F*****d by Commodus and had lost everything important to him. He didn't give a damn what he did at that point; he was ready to die if it happened.

AND he was a formally-trained Roman Legionary - a military man whose job for the empire was to conquer.

He was so good at what he did and couldn't believe people were entertained by senseless killing, so he just gets it over with as fast as he can - it's his form of a snub. It's not the killing I was taken with, it was the the reasons he did them and how he felt about the callous world around him. He told Marcus Aurelius the amount of days left to go home to his farm and his family - he was ready to quit the army w/no regrets. And then to lose it all?! I'd don't know what I'D do in that situration.

I'll see 3:10 if you see A Beautiful Mind - he should have gotten another Oscar for that.

ABSOLUTELY AGREE that he's nowhere near Gerry in looks.

Gladiator IS one of the best movies ever - even the soundtrack - which I own. And he DID command that role. As I said to Annie, he should have gotten the Oscar for Beautiful Mind as well. He was so good in that - especially at the end - when they made him older - he played that so well.

Now, Gerry, please don't be jealous.

As far as RC goes, he didn't get the Oscar for a Beautiful Mind becuase of his big mouth and how he put down the acadamy, etc. They shunned him, and honestly, he needs to keep his mouth shut. That's why he got it for Gladiator instead. He SHOULD have received it for ABM, but he fooked himself.

You HAVE to see 3:10 to Yuma! It's just sooo good! As was American Gangster . . .

GERRY GERRY GERRY - I know in my heart that this will all happen for Gerry as well. It takes time to prove your mettle in Hollywood, and Gerry will do it. He's just that awesome and that determined, that special and that talented. What Gerry needs to do, in my opinion, is continue doing these straight forward movies for a while, then find himself a movie like ABM where his talent can really shine through. RC made a lot of crap before things like ABM, M&C and Gladiator came around.

Okay, how the hell did this singing thread become about that????

OK I've been trying to keep quite but you keep talking about Russell Crowe and I just want to join in. I know this is a total different thread. Maybe we just need to make one on Russel Crowe.

RC was the best actor for me before I got to know Gerry. He is just too talented. I've seen 3:10 Yuma and I dont like westerns but this guy is just too good at this. I was really fascinated.

I agree that he should have won the oscar for ABM but I thought it was because they didnt want to give it to him two years in a row, but not being able to keep his mouth shot is a more possible reason. Gladiator IS my all time favorite movie (sorry Gerry but unfortunately your movies are not as good as you are, they are good but not as good.) Gladiator is a total package. Love the soundtrack, love the film, love every part of the story, love Maximus.

I think if phantom was not a musical but more like the book version and Gerry playing the phantom with a good director could bring an oscar.

OK what I would love Gerry to sing to me is "You're Still the One" by Shania Twain. God I love that song. I never heard it from anyone other than ST so dont know if Gerry's voice would fit to it, but its just the song I'm dreaming to listen to on my first dance on my wedding day. :wuv:

Okay, I just heard the COOLEST song on MadTV!!! The Strength of A Woman by Shaggy. Anyone??

It's a slow song, not rap, kinda reggae-ish, and I can't really hear Gerry popping his voice and all, but man the lyrics and the music are just COOL. I can hear him singing the chorus, though. That's more of a normal music type.

"Strength Of A Woman"

[Opening]

Ugh

Wah

Ugh

Ummmmm

Yo

SHAGGY

Ugh

Yo

This one goes out to all my women yah know

My strong women, ugh

[Verse 1]

So amazing how this world was made

I wonder if GOD is a woman

The gift of life astounds me to this day

I give it up for the woman

She's the constant wind that fills my sail

Ohhhhhh that woman

With her smile and her style,my

She'll protect like a child

That's a woman

[Chorus]

She'll put a smile upon yah face

And take you to that (ah) higher place

So don't you under estimate

The strength of a woman

The strength of a woman

[Verse 2]

Woke up this morning

I got up with the scent of a woman

Jus picture if you could what life would be

Ain't much good without a woman

She can nag and be a constant pain

Ohhhh that woman

But those hips she's got me whipped

And it's just to hard to resist

What a woman

Ugh, hey

[Chorus]

Tosses in

Ugh, ugh, ugh

[Verse 3]

Tender lips that's so so sweet

Gentle words she softly speaks

Such an angel when we need

GOD bless the ground beneath her feet

She can take you on a high

Be your comfort when you cry

But if you look into her eyes

You'll see the strength of a woman

Strength of a woman

Ugh, ugh, ugh

[Chorus]

[Fade]

Strength of a woman
