Gerry's NYC apartment finished

Recommended Posts

OMG!!! It's awesome, just awesome.

There's so much room to play! And even thought it's very masculine, the light from the windows opens the entire place up - how neat!!

Gerry! Oy! Can I come for a visit??

Love you Gerry - Always have; Always will.

I remember him talking about his new york condominioum on Leno, or some show like that. I had the impression it was a two story penthouse that he purchased but he just had a bed in it for a few years while he decided what to do with it. Wasn't the decorator a set designer from Phantom that was a friend of his?

:hmm:

Walking around with a bowl of cereal and 'nekkid?' Yes, I can see that.....

It looks like an old Scottish Castle.

My thoughts EXACTLY!

But I agree with Zany - too dark! I like that it's masculine. And roomy is NOT the word for it...it's HUGE (as if that hasn't been said in reference to something of his before...wink wink!) A place like this in Manhattan? He must have blown some serious 300 cash on this place. I don't even want to imagine the rent.

I do hope he gets some time to relax there. And yeah, I can totally see the place, my clothes strewn everywhere, Lolita prancing about, and G with a bowl of frosted flakes and a red bull.

Ragged sigh.

My first reaction was -"WOW" - yes it is dark, but it has a LOT of windows so it can be bright when the mood strikes. It is VERY masculine. Even if I didn't know it was Gerry's place I would know that was a real man's place - everything about it is strong, masculine, sturdy. It feels very old European, and I love that. Like a castle only warm, not drafty. It isn't necessarily my personal style (which, if it had a name, would be "maximally cluttered").

I laughed at the kitchen - it is beautiful and I love the island - but that is not a kitchen of someone who will be spending a lot of time cooking - it is so small compared to the HUGE living and dining area.

My final thought, seeing all the crystal chandeliers and just absorbing the vibe of the place was "there is really a lot more of the Phantom in Gerry than I even would have imagined". It has a very "lair" feeling to it, as many others have mentioned. Maybe ALW could use it as his basis for Erik's Lair in his "Phantom of Manhattan!" This is EXACTLY the kind of place I would picture Erik living if he had a NYC loft.

I don't think Gerry will ever call Los Angeles "home" even if he does spend a great deal of time here. I see that as a neccessity of the business he is in, rather than a preference. I would bet that now that his place is finished, or appears to be finished, he will spend as much time living in NYC as his schedule will allow.

ill never eat a bowl of cereal the same way again....not after that thought was put in my head... ***thanks for that :kisswink: ***

just after all the latest gossip and how he handles it, i find myself questioning things.... i suppose there is a bit of a pessemist in me... id love to believe this was his place, and not just the designers....its beautiful...

i thought in the 2nd page of the article it said they walked out of there that day, not making any purchases...ill have to give it a better read... :cunning:

He has to have 3 chandeliers in his dining room, just in case he gets the urge to drop one on his guests. :D

OMG! You just made me snort!

Or hang a swing from it. Naughty thoughts my bad. Again, I don't mind that's dark, I just think it needs a bit of a woman's touch to it to make it that more cozy. I could clear some time on my schedule if he would only call me for cripes sake!

Maybe it's just me, but I just don't 'see' Gerry in that style. Don't get me wrong, I like it, it just doesn't seem like Gerry was very involved in the design. Feels like maybe he liked the designer, so he said, 'Go for it!'

I mean, can you see Gerry saying, 'Yeah, and I want THREE chandeliers in the dining area!' :rotflmao: Although I do wonder what the BEDROOM looks like! :cunning:

Issy

I have been thinking the same thing. I wanna see his bedroom. I bet it's a big master bedroom for a king. :cunning::yummy:

One of my friends just cracked me up - I mentioned about him not making the bedroom available for public viewing (which we both agree with) and she said "maybe he has a big swan bed in there." Hmmm... he did say that for the longest time there was no furniture in it except a bed!

I thought the same thing! :) Yes Gerry how can we cook for you in that tiny kitchen?

And what about the rings behind the chairs in the dining table!! Now what are they for??? :cunning:

It's not my style but for one that likes the kind of Gothic/Mediterrarian darkside I'm sure it is beautiful! Unless it looks different in still pictures.... I do like some of it but think the crystal chandeliers may be over the top...I would think more on the side of black wrought iron ornate would have been a better choice...but that's just me. But really my opinion does not matter....As long as Gerry is happy and loves it that's all that matters. I do get the feel of the Lair and POTO a wee bit though and that's cool!

Thanks for the pics!

 Fran

Fran,

That was my exact thoughts. It does make you think of POTO and the lair. I personally love it. It is so unique and eclectic which to me is alot like Gerry. :gerrylicious: It does have a European feel with the modern conveniences. Maybe this is his attempt to really relate to the character of Erik :phantom: and really live it. :donjuan: I too, would have loved to have seen the bedrooms. :drool1::gutter: Oh, and I would live there with him of course!!!!(a lovely fantasy)

Me too!!!!!

The Venetian Stucco on the walls gives the place a vintage-look. It seems he tries to find peace of mind in that spaciousness rooms.

Thanks for the link Chelle!
