Anything is OK. My dress is tea-length some will be floor-length, some will be knee-length (some may even be minis if they consider the 60's "vintage") - and some may be in slacks. So if you find something you like, go for it! The theme is just a suggestion, but by no means a requirement. We want you to have a great time, that's all!

If it doesn't have legs, I don't wear it! Hey! Katharine Hepburn wore slacks almost all the time. It works for me, too!

Esther Williams and Marlena Dietrich were also partial to slacks (though Esther had to wear a swimsuit in most of her movies).

I'm wearing a long dress because I wear slacks all the time and want to do something different.....It's kind of nice to know I still have ankles!

Thanks, ladies! No telling what I will show up wearing on Sat!!

I found a knee length dress that I love.......the one I was planning to wear on Fri I think will be soooo hot (I get hot easily)......still looking. Thanks for the quick response and the wonderful input.

Can't wait to see you all! SOOOOOO excited!

Kitty, I am working on my hubby about going to POTO at the Venetian on Thurs night. He will let me know tomorrow. You know they cancelled our show last year and I couldn't be there on Thurs.

Bought the airline tickets before they raised the prices and we saved enough on our tickets to pay for the show, LOL.

Kitty, I want to take the advanced vidder's class with you. If I bring my laptop with Sony Vegas Pro 8 on it, will there be an electrical outlet that I could use?

See you all there!!

Cheers,

Judy

UGH! I definitely remember them canceling the show! I couldn't make it Thursday last year, either. Elissa, Erin (Elissa's daughter), Suzie and I will be at POTO on Thursday of this year. I hope you and your husband can join us! I read somewhere, too, that your husband is not going to the convention. Mine will most likely be in Vegas for the weekend, as he has a consulting job in Salt Lake City the weeks before and after the convention. He'll be hitting ths casino as well, while we're off doing the GALS thing. Does your hubby play Blackjack? That's where mine will undoubtedly be!

Great news you'll be at the workshop! I seriously doubt I have anything I can teach you! You make brilliant videos! I think it will be more of an unstructured discussion where we can all share some ideas and techniques. I don't have a strict plan in mind. Definitely bring your laptop! I don't know exactly what the setup will be, but certainly there must be someplace to plug stuff in. Great you have Vegas 8! I think just about everyone who has shown interest is a Vegas user in some form or other. I just upgraded to Version 8 myself. I'm hoping we can spend some time working with masks and multi-tracks. Cool!!

Sorry. Back to the original topic. Off on a tangent as usual!

Well, I don't know about anyone else but I ABHOR dresses. I have a pair of nice slacks I will wear to the dinner, but the rest of the time it's gonna be capri's and jeans, baby!

I'm also a bit on the miserly side and hate spending money - cocktail dresses or any other kind of dress is definitely the furthest purchase from my mind.

Got save all my money for debauchery...dresses be damned!

You cannot wear jeans to the cocktail party or the ball. Dont make me hurt you, Aims. Remember where you will be sleeping

Thanks, Kitty, for the wonderful compliment!! There are definitely things you can teach me, though! You are an absolutely wonderful vidder yourself! I haven't had time to fool around with the new program....the laptop is new, too, and I have had a little trouble with it. In the Sony Vegas 6, I have added as many as 3 extra video tracks and an extra audio at one time in a video. Wish I had a book for the Pro like the one that came with my Vegas 6.0. If there will be other 6.0 users there, it might be a good idea if I bring that book. Wonder if Sony would sell me just the book for the Pro 8? I will look into that.

My hubby plays blackjack, too!!! He is not a 24-7 gambler like I am, though. I could play poker all day and all night! We can introduce the guys and I am sure they will be doing some playing together.

Anxiously awaiting his decision on POTO. If he doesn't want to go, I may just go myself!! Was so worked up last year and then they cancelled the show a week beforehand. I still think it was punishment because we didn't hold the convention at the Venetian. Oh well, water under the bridge.....

and AimeeMarie....I am a bit on the miserly side myself. The dress that I bought yesterday is lovely, in my opinion, and it was ON SALE! Originally $130 marked down to $32.50. Glad the convention is after prom, :bellydance: The one I wore on Fri night last year was $35 and I made the costume for the 300 ball. (the materials to make the costume cost as much as last years' dress and the one I bought yesterday combined!)

Can't wait to see you all!!

Cheers,

Judy

I have my lovely floor length maxi dress - dressy but understated - not prom like but more summery for the Saturday. What are people wearing on the Friday night. I was not sure whether to wear my dress I wore to CUT or just a nice pair of fancy black trousers and nice top. Part of me feels because I will be quite dressy on the Saturday I'd rather go more casual on the Friday - but don't want to be too under dressed if you know what I mean.

Is it proper sit down meals for both nights or buffet help yourself meals. Am I right that tea, coffee and soft drinks are included within the price for both nights. Are soft drinks only available at the meal or is it all through the evening at the functions. If that is the case then that is great.

I am so looking forward to it and meeting all of you. I really think it is important to not be nervous or shy and make an effort to just go up and speak to each other. If we are wearing name tags then we will all probably recognise screen names etc. I did feel at the GB.Net Convention in Glasgow last year that nobody really mingled but kept in their little groups. I had touched based with Celine(Gerry Nutsnap) before and made a few friends through her and know what it is like to be a newbie to these things. Thankfully I have made alot of friends on GALS and met them at CUT so am raring to go.

Landa, I said I would wear nice dress slacks to the dinner but the rest of the time I am going for comfort.

:crybaby:

I weigh more this year than I did last year, so this year is about camoflauging my bakery....

Aims you will look beautiful in anything you wear!

You're really sweet to say so...I am so very self conscious about my weight and am seriously considering spending the next 19 days in the gym and starving myself to see if it makes any difference...

Aimee I understand your problem intimately. I camoflauge so well that I can go up and down 20 pounds and no one can tell, LOL. Unfortunately I am the same size I was last year, and evening wear is very revealing, so camoflauge for me is out of the question. Just wear what you like that feels good and makes you feel good about yourself. I struggle with my self-esteem all the time. Just can't seem to learn to love my body the way it is. When I look in the mirror the first thing that jumps into my mind is "Who is that?" When I first gained this weight, I would try on clothes and cry my eyes out. I need to lose a good 80 pounds and was never this heavy until I had some health problems how long ago?....hmmm......13 years ago it was. I started gaining while I was sick and then when I got better I immediately stopped smoking and that brought on another 40 pounds. Been struggling ever since. Only weigh 7 pounds more now, though, than I did when I stopped gaining after quitting.....but staying where I am is a constant struggle. I said last year that it would be off by this year.....lol....should be glad that I haven't gained any. They say that people my age gain a few pounds every year.

I look at the inner person.....please do the same for me.

Looking forward to meeting you.

Judy

I've worn "skorts and a tshirt" to both "balls." I don't do the dress up thing. All the planning, packing and toting is a pain the arse to me -- not to mention MONEY. My point is that I reiterate Missus Sporran's posts: WEAR WHAT YOU WANT. This convention is for each of us. Do what brings you the most joy! If you want to wear skorts - you won't be alone. If you want to go "all out glam" -- you'll definitely have company! HAVE FUN!
