post Vegas Blues

Well, apparently, the Post Vegas Blues are not gender specific. I have a full blown case. My research indicates that the symptoms differ slightly for men. I have not been weepy or inconsolably depressed. But I have been totally unable to focus on my normal daily tasks or pay attention in meetings when I needed to. Several times today, co-workers caught me staring blankly at a wall with a silly grin on my face.

Also, I seem to find GALS related topics everywhere I look. When reading an e-mail from my boss in regard to his Personal Time Off schedule (PTO) I kept seeing POTO in my mind. I already told a couple of the GALS that I pushed the floor number for our hotel in the office elevator, not once but twice!

And when I unpacked, I found a crumpled dollar bill stuck in the belt for my kilt. You GALS sure know how to make a guy feel welcome!

My post Vegas Blues always hit me about half way through Saturday night. It is then that I start to see things winding down... with friends flying out the next day, who I won't see for another year!

I already miss my roomies, Deb and Sally, and my beloved Libby.

Good thing I have my creative insanity to keep me too busy to get REALLY depressed!

AAAWWW Big Mike...you are not alone :tissues: I work in ICU and since I have been back, I have been unable to concentrate..scared I might give wrong medications etc...I blame the next nurse! :mademe:

I too sit and gape at the wall with a silly grin on my face when I remember the wonderful time I had and you and Holly cracking me up..you chasing Landa round the room ( I think that was her name) :yeehaw:

Because I am deaf, I did not need to hear because both your bodywork and facial expressions said it all.

I never had so much fun in all my life. :ty:

Never got chance to meet you Swannie...next year I will look out for you...

RedRoseBlackRibbon...beautiful photos..I have printed them and will treasure them... :thankyou:

Will be back later....

That is the ONE frustration I leave with every year. I never seem to meet all the people I want to. This year I did make an effort to be more outgoing... but it all goes by so fast. I still can't believe I didn't get to meet Linda, Sweet Tart! I saw her at the Ball Saturday night (didn't know who she was) and figured she was a VIP... so I did not even approach her!..... even though I have PMed with her on several occasions.

Next year... right?

Are you talking about Linda, Sweetheart Angel? (Pretty white dress, long gloves, boufant hair, hubby?) She owns GB Angels. We share a wonderful "sister site" relationship with them and were glad to have several "Angels" in attendance this year!

Pam is was GREAT being able to mingle with you, too! You're an inspiration to us all, to be sure!

Yes I am.

I am a member of her site, and we have PMed back and forth a number of times, but I did not know who she was! No one was wearing name tags Saturday, so I could not identify people by their screen names! My bad!

I think I have PVB worse this year than last...I know by Sunday night I couldn't stop my emotions. Those days flew by so fast, like the blink of an eye.

Thanks again to everyone who had a hand in putting it all together!

This year I have something I'll call Post-Vegas-Inspiration (PVI)! While I am sad about those I won't see again for another year, I'm so inspired and excited about the future of our conventions that I'm (believe it or not) raring to start planning 2009. Last year I was a grump at the end, I wanted rest and I wanted a chance to recouperate and when Dayna started talking about 2008 right after we got home I got all pissy about it. This year was different for me - I felt so inspired that I am already chomping at the bit and on the drive home yesterday I was already calling Dayna with ideas for next year! Maybe I'm just really insane, you never know, but hopefully my insanity proves to be productive!!

Oh it is Susan... I do my best writing when I am insane! Insanity can be very productive!

I am already making plans for 09!! I am hoping we go see 300 in the theater. If we do, i am going to invite all the hubbies to sit in one row together. We will cheer like crazy for the oracle and the queen getting nakie. And i will bring magaritas and we will have a drinking game where everyone has to take a drink everytime there is blood splatter!

Deb,

I LOVE your siggy! Congratulations on the winning (and generous!) bid for Gerry's jeans.

While Jay White was singing "Forever in Blue Jeans", Susan, Holly and I were singing, "Forever in Gerry's Jeans" and now YOU can live it!! LOL!!

Mikey, I'm glad you posted about your PVB's, big guy. PVB's...it's not just a GALS thing! And omigosh, a drink for every blood splatter? We'll all be drunker than Cooter Brown! (for those of you who may be thinking, who the heck is Cooter Brown?! http://www.cooterbrown.com)

Swannie, I finally introduced myself to Linda and found out who she was. She DID seem like a VIP! She was so sweet and nice. Well, I didn't meet anyone who wasn't!

PVB's have definitely arrived!

Hugs,

Songbird

If I'd had a functioning brain (and time) on Saturday night I would have tried to make sure that Linda got introduced around. We've known each other since the night before we both had our first Gerry encounter following Leno in 2005. Linda and Mark had the front seats in the line for tickets and then went back to their hotel for sleep (while the rest of us stayed out on the sidewalk) but then later, sometime after midnight, Mark brought us a couple of big cups of hot chocolate to warm us up. Linda and Mark are two very dear people and I'm so glad they made it to the convention this year. I just wish more of you had the chance to meet them on Saturday night.

Mike, the PVB's are hitting all of us, myself included. You were too funny Saturday chasing Landa around and I have to admit I was pretty amused with you trying to chase me down as well. Thanks for being such a good sport and it was fun meeting you. (Even if you do scare me. ;) Okay, not really anymore.) Please never change cause we love you just the way you are!

PVB's for me, too. I had today off, and am trying like HELL to find an excuse to take off tomorrow, too. All I can think of is that line from Elvis Costello's song, Oliver's Army - "... and I would rather be anywhere else than here today." Of course, I'd have to change up the words a bit so it says "I would rather be in VEGAS than here today."

I just told my daughter that if she could quote me the line from Phantom near the end, where Phantom is pressuring Christine for an answer to her choice between himself and Raoul, that I would then take the day off. She promptly chimed, "You try my patience. Make your choice!" Well, I guess she's been paying more attention to POTO than I thought she was, and now I guess I'll have to call in sick! Hey! I DID fall off a bar stool! I sustained great injury to my dignity, if nothing else! LOL!

I woke up this morning to silence.

It was horrible.

Not having Bella and Landa and Stacie giggling about something or other made me really sad.

Not seeing everyone's faces today made me sad.

So, I guess I will just HAVE to come to the Con next year. Count me in for helping with anything, MODS and ADMINS! You all did a wonderful, incredible job - and I don't think you all got to enjoy yourselves as much as you should have, you were all working so hard!

*jumping up and down, hand in the air* Pick me to help, pick me!!

Thanks Katie! I was truly moved by both of your performances this year. We are indeed lucky to have our very own Songbird!

 Katie

I have to tell you that it hit me on the plane while I was reading PSILY again and I started to cry a little. There was this really cute, British man sitting next to me and he kept saying, "are you alright, Miss?" I was like,"Yeah ,Im just being a big sap." So yes, I was missing everyone as soon as I woke up on Monday morning to an empty hotel room. I was kinda upset so I left the hotel earlier than I should have. 2009 cant get here fast enough for me.

I guess I'm in the minority with Susan. I feel inspired and empowered from the weekend. Yes, of course, I miss seeing all my friends, and it was wonderful dancing and laughing with everyone, but I am so ready to begin my new life . . . it starts Monday. I'm giving myself the week off. I'm still really tired, but I'm not sad at all. I had the BEST time!!!

I can't wait to hear about plans for 2009 . . . themes, dates, locations, etc. I'm ready to prepare for next year!
