It's Friday night and hubby's asleep so I'm up here hanging out on GALS! We went out for dinner tonight and as we headed out for the restaurant, I couldn't believe the gorgeous RED sunset! It was breathtaking. People were literally standing in the parking lot just staring at the sky!

We had a great time chatting over dinner, and then we went to the mall and did a little shopping before coming home. It's gotten quite cold here in the last few days. Last night it was down in the mid 30's, so tonight I wore my winter coat and leather gloves for the first time since last winter. I just love this time of year.

Tomorrow we will be attending the memorial service for a friend of ours who passed away on Wednesday. She was an avid hiker, but while hiking up in the cascade range with some friends, she was caught unexpectedly in a winter storm. She was stranded up on the mountain overnight and did not have the proper gear for winter weather, so when they found her the next morning, she was unconscious and then died on the way to the hospital. She was a wonderful quirky lady, and my favorite memory of her is when our church group put on a talent show and Phyllis showed up dressed in a Star Trek costume and played The Entertainer on the piano! I have not seen her for a few years since we left that church, but she was quite a special person. I expect I'll see a lot of our old church friends at the service, because this woman and her family are loved by many.

Well the home improvements continue! Yesterday we ordered lovely wooden blinds for all of our windows. They are a very light wood with a subtle grain, stained in a warm tone. We were also able to get all of our curtains back up, and the color of the fabric looks wonderful with the new color of our walls. We got a call that our new furniture will not be delivered until mid-November, but that's ok, because a lot of other stuff is going on right now.

I hope you are all enjoying the fall, and let's all remember to keep our Gerry in our thoughts and prayers. He's so dear to us.

Sorry that I haven't posted in a while, RL keeps getting in the way! :tantrum: But I do come here and read almost every day.

Swannie: I'm glad that your renovations are going so well. I love autumn too!

Irish: I'm happy that Dan feels better and that his test results have been good. I'll continue to pray that the tumors continue to shrink.

Alison: good to hear from you! I missed rooming with you in Vegas!

I finally went to a Crohn's specialist and she put me on an immuno-modifier which will help keep my immune system from continually attacking my colon. Asacol, the medicine I've been taking for the last six years, has lost some of its effectiveness. I hope to maybe get off of it or at least stop having to take so many (12 a day!)

The specialist also did several tests, including testing for celiac disease and thyroid problems. I don't have celiac, but I do have hypothyroidism. All I can say is DUH! With all of the problems with tiredness, menstrual irregularities, problems with my insulin and weight and so on, I'm surprised no one has tested me for this before. On Monday I see my general practitioner's PA and we'll figure out a treatment plan. Probably another pill. But hey, if it helps me to feel better then more power to it!

Anyway, I hope that all of you are having a fine weekend (or had, for our Aussies).

Hello Everyone, Hugs

Just catching up after a few days away. Hubby and I took a break down to the South Coast of New South Wales to get a bit of peace and quiet from the full house. It was wonderful.

Nancy: I don't know how you do it with a limo full of teens, but you are a very patient GAL so I guess you just rolled your eyes and got on with it. Are you getting good rest with all these jobs?

Caught up with part of the Jay Lenno interview - can't get access to the full one until it is posted here unfortunately.

Hi Swannie: nice to hear your house is getting back into order after the repaint.

OK all, hugs and TTFN

 everyone! I'm back home from my two week trip to California to visit my daughter. I had a great time and didn't want to leave, but I must admit it feels good to be home. When our plane landed, the flight attendant said, "Well, I'd like to welcome you all to Hawaii, but the truth is, we're in San Antonio." :rotflmao:

Did you fly Southwest, Elissa? We've had some very funny flight attendants when flying Southwest. That's what airline I'm flying to Cleveland on Tuesday.

Went to see Rocknrolla again last night - it was even better the 2nd time. The sound in the theater was better and I caught a lot of bits of dialogue I missed the first time. I think I managed to get almost all the plot and character puzzle pieces together this time. Now I probably won't get to see it again until it has its wider release. The great news was that the theater was probably at least 80% full, and since they haven't made it very easy for people to find out where the heck it is playing I was happy to see that many there.

Yeah, Susan, we flew Southwest. :) We're also flying on Southwest when we go back to LA next month for Thanksgiving. The only thing I regret about this last visit was that I didn't get to see RocknRolla! We had so many things to do to help our daughter with her recent move that we just didn't make it to the movies.

Zany-that gif is great! Thanks!

Today was a very busy and sad day for me. I said goodbye to one friend who passed away while hiking up in the mountains last week, and I just now found out that a very sick Gerry fan friend I have been praying for, is terminal. I am heart broken.... and yet today was one of the most beautiful Autumn days I have ever seen in the Northwest. It was completely clear and chilly, and I had this incredible urge to carve jack-o-lanterns! It's funny how in this life, the good is very often side by side with the bad, and likewise.... joy and sorrow frequently come hand-in-hand.

The memorial service was amazing! I have never seen so many people crammed into a church! This woman touched so many lives... serving in the community and caring for people.... the love in that room was overwhelming.

I hope you all have a lovely Sunday!

Just stopping by to say Hello ....I don't get here as often as I used to but I do try and catch up on reading! It's seems so funny but when I first came here there wasn't half as much reading to catch up on!! Guess it goes to show how this site has grown with soooo many new and might I say savvy Gerry fans.. :D

Swannie ....I'm so sorry to hear about your friend! I just can't imagine how frightning it must have been for her to be in that predictament! Very sad story .....my heart goes out to her family for sure.

BTW...the renovations on your home sound beautiful!

Alison...it's so nice to have you back! I'm sorry but I didn't know there was a health concern..I am very happy to hear you are better and back at Gal's..Well (home) :kisswink:

Mouse..I pray that this new regimen helps you with your dreaded disease! I have a girlfriend who has suffered for years with the same infliction and I know how devastating it can be! Just wanted you to know you are in my thoughts Sweetie.

Nancy...I didn't even know you are still doing the limo thing! Doesn't your company add the tip into the fare? The one Deb worked for did...they of course got a little % of it! What else is new? :tantrum: Greedy muggers! :(

Elissa, funny story! :p

Suz....hope your feeling better with the allergies Hon! I thought I saw somewhere that you found youe new house! Did you?? If so great news and congrats! Now comes the moving....Hell by the time I find out all these things you prolly have already lived in it for a couple of months now right??

...and Peggy, I have to call Peggy....

Swan, I'm so sorry for the loss of your friend and for what you are going through with S. I think God does that for us....when things are so bad He will give us some kind of "gift" to let us know that He is still in control. You know what I mean?

Glad you're home safe and sound Elissa! I bet coming home was a whole lot easier than going...lol.

I heard from our Anna....she is home! Welcome back Anna...I missed you.

Well, have to go get ready for church. Have a beautiful Sunday everyone.

hugs to you all.

Yes, Sue sweetie, I'm back once more, just finished the laundry and packed all the summer clothes into storage until the next holiday.

Scotland was wet, but restful, Madeira was hot, sunny and fun,

Posted Image....though it was cloudy when we arrived at the hotel.

Posted Image Following the smell of fresh tea.....

Posted Image what a dainty spread....

Posted Image ...didn't leave much...

Posted Image...then he napped!

Before I left on my travels I gathered bunches of late summer lavender and carefully left them hanging in the sun lounge. Now I've placed the dried flower heads in linen bags that can be tucked into my lingerie drawer so I can enjoy the fragrance each time I open the drawer. It's the one smell that reminds me of my previous home 'up North' beside the sea.

I've only one large shrub in my garden here, in my old home I had both sides of the drive planted with lavender shrubs leading up to the front door, the fragrance was magical in the Summer.

Although it remains mild weather here in the south of the UK, I can 'feel' the season progressing through the chill I experienced this evening, and the trees changing to an wonderful autumnal hue..........I'm so glad that God created seasons!

Posted Image Today...........I'm wishing I were back watching the sea......quite fancy flying a kite up into the wide blue yonder.

Sorry I have'nt read all the posts, but hugs and love to all who are in need, and to all my Galfriends too.

Mousie  my friend emailed me this article for another friend, may be worth reading sweetie, you sound in dire need, will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. :wuv:

Welcome home Elissa and Anna!!! I've missed you both soooo much!

I haven't had time to read all the news either. Mother has been here for the weekend, and she does demand to be entertained! We've made a trip to drool over the new house, but I still can't make an offer on it until my house is under contract. That just may happen this week as I do have a very interested buyer, but these things never happen as quickly as we would like! I am trying so hard not to visualize myself in the new house until it's a done deal, but it's hard to wait!!

You know, the hardest thing about all this waiting around and showing the house is that no one can make a mess anywhere because you never know when you will have people trooping through your house. With a very active dog and cat, keeping clutter to a minimum is a pain!

The allergies are better, but I still have a few welts on my back from the test! The meds have really cut down on the coughing, though! Yea!!!

Hugs to all my GALfriends and greetings to you newbies - so glad to have you here!

Hi everyone!.

OMG, my sister picked me up and ran me all over this town today! I am so exhausted. It was fun, but I swear that girl wears me out every time we get together. We went shopping for her Halloween costume, and I bought a beautiful pumpkin to add to my centerpiece. I'll take a pic tomorrow and show you. Then we spent the rest of the day visiting with my mom. Everything is settled, and my mom's 80th birthday party in officially in the works. Mom is excited about it! We had a fun time talking mostly about Gerry! Yep, my mom and sis are both all dreamy over him. Mom just loved him on Leno, said she almost wet HER pants laughing so hard at stories! isn't that cute?

I'm just resting tonight, but tomorrow I start work on my book again.

Take care, everyone!
