irish
Lots going on here today with Dan...I've FINALLY found a website with so much information and so helpful and thank you LORD because I did call the doctors first thing this morning and was told to call back at 9am. At 9 am I called back and finally got ahold of the scheduler and told her how I had called Friday and what my poor husband went through all weekend and she gave us an appt in NOVEMBER!!!!! I have been waiting since 9am for a call from the nurse....but in the meantime I have found a forum for people who have kidney cancer and are on the same medicine that Dan is on. they also gave me the phone number of a nurse who works for the Nexavar people. We called her and she called back and told us that I need to call the doctors office back and be even more pushy...that ALL of Dan's problems are because of the Nexavar toxicity and that he needs to have his dosage stopped until his pain subsides and than have his dose lowered...so I have just gotten off the phone with leaving another message... I hate the thought of Dan coming off of the chemo meds because they seem to be working so well...but he, on the ohter hand is ecstatic about stopping them for awhile. We both are happy to know that all his problems are from the side effects and can be lessened..... I just want what is best for him.... OK..thanks for listening...got that off my chest...lol hugs, Sue
Wendy Muir
Hi Sue, I'm really behind in reading the postings. Sorry to hear Dan was not feeling well. Some side effects are really harsh,eh? You both are still in my prayers. Take care WendyM
auntm
SUE! Oh man. I'd hoped we were past these nasty moments and DANG AND DRAT the stupid things that can give help with the cancer and that much pain in side effects. NOVEMBER???? I think not. What do we need to do to help? Need my voodoo doll and pins? (and yes, a "funny" mother gave one to me last year to use when her son wasn't in line.....OH MY WORD!!!!) Love and prayers be with you both. {{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}} piles and piles of hugs to one and all. Jill (auntm)
Swansong
Sue, after everything Nathan went through, I have to say, I have completely lost faith in the medical profession as it is today. Each time I need to see a doctor, I drag my feet because of the sh*t Nathan was subjected to. I'll never get that out of my memory. Even with my celiac disease, I have gotten no actual help from my doctor in terms of treatment/ diet/lifestyle. All the information I have found out has been either from my dear friend here, who flagged me about Celiac in the first place, and from my own digging on-line. The days of being able to put your life in your doctor's hands and know that he/she has your best interests at heart are now over. Perhaps Dan's body just needs a wee break from the chemo, a chance to get stronger and refuel his spirit. He sounds like such a wonderful man, and I pray that this reprieval affords the two of you some lovely time enjoying the fall. Speaking of doctors... I missed my bloody appt today because my entire house is torn apart, and I lost track of the date. I feel so dumb! I need this appointment too, because they're going to determine whether or not I need surgery and when. So tomorrow I'll have to reschedule. Like I say, I feel so dumb! Painting going on in our house right now and everything is in chaos! Even the cats are afraid to come upstairs! Hugs to all, Swannie
ladyfran
Sue.....Do I have to make that call for you???????????????????????????????? I got a NY big mouth ya know!@^&%$#* Ask Peggy! One good thing is finding that site though! Could be all that's all it is ...the reaction to the meds. That's what happens to Mom....she takes Lupus meds but after a while she starts to have side effects and the Doc either takes her off a while or tries another! Usually he takes her off them... Give him my best will ya please Sweetie! Hey Cat, how are you Sweetie...everytime I get on I scan so fast that I didn't even see you... So sorry and here some {{{{HUGS}}}} I owe you! Allie....sounds like you're up and about...good for you! BTW...how is the doggie doing? Swannie...I do not envy you going thru the reno and painting and such...I went thru three years of it!! But in the end I'm sure it will be beautiful! Gotta go and check around a bit before I go back in PI making Halloween sigs....Hey I got three done today and that's a lot for me! Guest Nay
Hello to Gals here and away! I am enjoying a mild spring evening. The light is slowly going from the day, the birds are playing around, my glass of red is full and I'm listening to beautiful music. Thanks to Oggy, I am listening to this: Thanks Oggs! You swim like you're on fire Live like your last day Drink like it's water There's no tomorrow And you think no-one can hear you Raise to be called on You know all the answers You're the most colourful thing that I've ever seen. You dance like no-one watching Sing 'till the song ends Then you sing some more And we can hardly believe it Words that flew from your mouth Drink like it's water You're the most colourful thing that I've seen. It's been a while since I checked to Gals Central but I see that some have been ill, some are pondering family situations, some have been working hard and some have been enjoying their loved ones. To all of those who need it, my blessings. AuntM - a voodoo doll? Send me one pretty please!!! Sue - take Frannie and her NY mouth with you next time! Cat - how's the weather? Lady Elissa
Happy Birthday, Isabella! Hi everyone! Here I am, way behind in this thread...again! My daughter has moved again, this time, from Irvine to Los Angeles, so next week her dad and I are renting a U-Haul truck and taking the rest of her clothes and furniture to her. I've been busy packing boxes and working extra hours at the hospital because I'm going to be gone for two weeks. I did take time out on Saturday to go to the "Halfway to St. Patrick's Day" festival downtown. DH, Suzie, and I had a great time! We Irish will find any excuse for a party! Anna, I'm so glad TJ is better! Sue, I can't believe they actually expect you and Dan to wait until November for an appointment! That is criminal! Big hugs to all! irish
Hi My friends...well, my ex NY mouth and my Irish stubbornness (thanks to all of your words of encouragement) won out ... Dan has an appt at 1 today...it's not with the doctor we wanted to see...that appt is still in November but at least we will be seeing the oncologist who is filling in for Dan'l regular oncologist. I'm off to make notes and have all my ducks...I mean questions in order. We also have a 45 minutes telephone interview with a cancer research company this morning... You are all a Godsend to me. I will post more in the prayer thread later today. Anna, my precious friend thank you so much for the surprise I found in my mailbox this morning....you are something else! love, Sue
JustCallMeTracy
Hello everyone. Sorry if you are sick, poor, your kids are sick, your pets are sick, someone you love is sick, you need a job or you are feel lonely. Yes, I am too lazy to read all the posts. In all honesty. I have had a horrid couple of days. I caught my grandson's cold and I have had lovely sinus headaches to go with it and the screen is blurry because I need glasses. I about had to glue my eyeballs to the screen to read Laird and Rebecca. I have to read Laird and Rebecca. They are like Sadie's Erik and Meg. Gotta read it even if your head hurts like Hades. My son and daughter in law bought me my own copy of POTO. I can't get my grandson to believe that Mask is Nim's daddy. That kid loves him some Mask as he calls Erik though he scares him a bit too. He gets very close to me when Erik starts singing PHANTOM:(soft and sort of saddened) Say you'll share with me One love, one lifetime Lead me, save me from my solitude Say you want me With you here Beside you Anywhere you go Let me go too Christine that's all I ask of… because he knows she is going to pull the mask on and the music gets real loud to reflect Erik's anger and the chandelier and all that stuff.Anyway my grandson is just the bees knees to me. Then I tried to get him to lay down and take a nap and "Days of Our Lives" was on and he said. I wanna watch Steve. I wanna watch Steve. Thanks to all of you who continue to pray for my daddy, Dennis and me. I too am continuing my prayers. I love you all. Love, Tracy P.S. Sue that is horrid of them to expect Dan'l to wait. I have to ask about my two homies. Frannie and Peggy much love homies. I love you all.
Terry's Witch
OK..thanks for listening...got that off my chest...lol hugs, Sue Sue: That's what we are here for, to support. So glad you got an appointment - it's the old "squeeky wheel" syndrome - works everytime NY mouth or not LOL. Thinking of you and your dearest man. Hey Cat, how are you Sweetie...everytime I get on I scan so fast that I didn't even see you... So sorry and here some {{{{HUGS}}}} I owe you! Frannie Yes Frannie, some days there is so much interesting traffic and a quick scan is all we have time for. But then we need our scan fix don't we. Hugs back too. Nay, all's good here - weather warming, a bit of rain to green for spring. Work is busy and house is full. Pam: I had a good chuckle at the shitzu quote ... yeah we would have had a problem but I'm sure hubby would have found the names amusing LOL. Home today with nasty sinus problems, Canberra is a bummer in spring with all the pollens from the wattle, pine trees and grasses. Even with the recent rain no reprieve. So a head full of medication and hopefully a quiet day then back on top of it. Will give me a bit of time to play with a new siggy - tough huh! Guest
Sue sorry to hear about your frustration! doctors are idiots! they almost killed my mother a few times, wrong dosage for dangerous medications, incorrect medical evaluations on serious conditions, wrong dosage of anesthia during an operation, etc etc etc Sometimes we need to research on our own and get many opinions, glad you are doing that my prayers are with you hugs to all as well Edited September 23, 2008 by Guest

Still no word from the Mines yet. They can take awhile but I'm also mindful that it may not be what I'm supposed to do. Its a difficult one to know but that's were patience comes into it. Swansong
It has been FOOKIN NUTZ at my house! Just finished painting, it is after 8:00PM, and we haven't even had dinner yet! I prepared homemade soup, so that took some doing, working around wet paint brushes, rollers and other non-food messes. On top of the chaos of painting and moving everything around a dozen times, my new rug was delivered today... BUT IT"S THE WRONG ONE! so now I have a great big rug rolled up against the wall, and it will have to returned. Who knows how long that will take. I've got more docs appts lining up, so yeah R/L has totally screwed with my Gerry/GALS time. Hope to spend some quality time in here tonight, cuz I'm tired! Attila Girl
EDIT: Don't know what happened but yesterday I could not get logged on to the Internet...I kept clicking and clicking till I had about 20 "windows" open...Then, when I got to Gals, I wasn't logged in like I usually am...and I could NOT recall my password. Whatever happened it seems to be okay today. Prayers to Anna still for TJ, and to Sue & Dan, and Peggy and Frannie, and Suzie, (all moved in yet??), and Tracy. And to Elissa...You're coming to Irvine? I wish it was for fun and not work...I'm just about 10 -12 miles from Irvine. It'd be fun if you had time to meet up, but it sounds like you might be too busy moving your daughter to LA. Let me know. Had a really bad day at the Vet's , but don't worry, I'll not share anything...it was the worst ever. Our weather has turned to summer again...near 90 and still warm tonight. The past weekend was SO perfectly BEAUTIFUL and the nights really cool, but that's all changed. We'll see. Autumn is coming. I don't know why I'm so split on Summer ending and Autumn coming...It's sad to see summer go, and yet it's nice to have it cooler. But Autumn is still hard for me with the holiday season coming, and basically they are all "family" holidays, and it's not the happiest time for me. I need to NOT think about that and just enjoy the change of season and change in the weather. I did a limo run on Sunday and plan on doing more driving...I really miss it. Okay, just got side-tracked looking at that gorgeous ATTILA GERRY in my siggy. Goodnite, Nancy Edited September 25, 2008 by Attila Girl

Anna
Hello Galfriends, So sorry to have be AWOL for sometime but I have been struggling with a couple of friends who have been having a really bad time lately. One is so distraught that she is even beyond my 'ministries' physical and emotional, so we are taking off for a retreat in Scotland for a while. She has chosen to go to the Benedictine Monks at Pluscarden Abbey, near Elgin in Scotland. It is a medieval monastery, lots of prayers and silences. There is comfortable accomodation.... though not in the Monastery itself. It's a beautiful place in a sheltered, south-facing glen with a forested hillside beyond. I have had several retreats there over the years and have always felt so at peace, let's hope this works for my friend. We fly up to Scotland on Wednesday ...very early flight, but that will start the days off well, first prayers are sung at 4.45am every morning. I should be starting my prep for the winter, changing curtains, cushions, checking paintwork for sticky fingers, christmas fruit cakes to make (5 this year), sweet mincemeat to stir and put into jars for pies, fruits to bottle, spiced chutneys to prepare, must remember to make the spiced pears again, delicious with cold meats. If I don't get through the list by 24th December, tough! There is always M&S and Waitrose. Wish I had more time now to catch up on all the happenings here, Gerry loveliness especially, but must say somethings before i get on, Kristine and Moira, congratulations, Jobella, Auntm, Paige, Jill, Jenn, Judy, Swan, *guest* ............................insert name if missed here. Peggy, Frannie and Bobby, Sue and Dan'l, Tracy and Hubby, Allie and anyone who needs hugs as they have been ill....but mending I hope. Suzie, Nancy, Elissa, Susan, Cassie, Charlie and Cat and all who sent Get Well wishes for wee TJ, he has bounced back to health and don't we know it!......do all take care of each other and Gerry of course. hugs, Anna x
Terry's Witch
Anna that monastery sounds wonderful. Wish it wasn't so far away. We have retreats here too but not in delightful highland glens with age old buildings etc. Sounds like a few other GALS could use that at well.... (Cat is thinking of Swannie). Yes, will definately try to make Vegas next year. Money is not the issue, it's time. If I get a new contract soon that will work out because then I can legitimately have holidays about that time. Funny, the last time I came to Vegas was just as my 1st grandson was due - he was born two days before I got back. Next grandchild due in May so hopefully it won't be late LOL. Off to bed now Nighty night Cat

Guest greyeyegoddess
Hello all! Sorry I haven't been around. With my travels and loss of job, things are just not what I expected on my birthday. I'm in London right now, after spending a week in Ireland....LOVED IT! Sue, thank you for the incredible siggy. I think I'll use it. LOL! Thank you all for the birthday wishes. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get online much while I was in Ireland. We've stayed in Killarney, Galway, Dublin and visited Dingle, Belfast (LOVED Belfast!) and Cliffs of Moher. I can't believe how beautiful everywhere has been. I have a TON of pictures! I'm here in London until the 30th, and then come back to start a new job...if I can find one. What a strange turn of events.
