Gerard Butler GALS

Our Gerry

 Everybody,

I just watched "Miracle Match" where Gerry played Frank Borghi when our American Soccer team won against the English team in 1950. I almost forgot how incredible Gerry is as an actor. He is so versatile, and yet he is still Gerry. I didn't forget, but it was wonderful to see him again in something so removed from POTO and "300", and yet to know it was still that incredible man. It was so uplifting and again I cried to see how great Gerry was in such a different genre.

Gerry continues to amaze me each time I watch him perform in a different role. And yet, it's still that beautiful, incredible man that I have so loved for almost twelve years.

I received an e-mail from a new friend from IMBD (?) and she is so nice. But she told me that if I go on and speak about Gerry to be ready for the 'whip lash'!! They are not like us here and they will make remarks about how he dresses and the remarks he makes. I am not in the mood to hear put downs about our G-Man, so I probably won't be going on there very often. I only joined for the info on Gerry. Sometimes you can't get info or make replies unless you are logged on. So if logging on allows other people to 'bum rap' Gerry, then logging on is not going to be done by me very often.

Just wanted to say these little asides about the G-Man. Thanks for letting me.

Love Ya All,

:archie: 's Joanna

Hi Joanna....I'm glad you don't go on the IMBD boards....I have read some of the awful things they say about him on there so I completely stay away! They cannot seriously call themselves Gerry fans! I honestly don't think they get or have any more up to date info that we don't get right here either! Do yourself a favour and don't bother at all on that board! BTW...I so agree about MM...another great performance from our guy...I especially LOVE the mud scenes...*THUD*

Yeah, I stay away from IMBD's boards because people can be cruel. All that matters is you like him and his work. I only go there because I like to use it as a reference place to see who has worked with who.

Love,

Tracy

P.S. I wanna see that movie, Joanna. I think Gerry is great in everything I have seen him in. He is so versatile.

Hi Joanna,

I have to agree that IMDB boards are basically "toxic" - and, frankly, IMHO, that's a charitable assessment. :2cents:

Miracle Match was an amazing movie. I loved it. Yeah, the mud scenes were delicious! :drool1:

Gerry's acting range is incredible. He definitely belongs up there with Burton, Barrymore, Newman, McQueen, etc. Gerry has a true gift that few actors have and that is that he makes the viewer believe. His performance in The Jury and in Shattered left me stunned. I'm not even going to try and find words for how well he brought my lifelong hero, Leonidas, to life. I can't wait to see LAC. Watching him act a part he actually trained for in real life is going to be a real treat. If he ever gets the Burns project off the ground and takes the starring role, I will be able to die one very happy camper.

OH MY GOSH!!!!! THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR SUCH WONDERFUL WORDS!!! I have been so down this past week!!! Our internet is so F---ED up lately! (Gerry's favorite word!) I miss my GALS so much!!! I finally got on Saturday night and I had 43 e-mails!!!!! 11 of which were spam!!!! Boy, what four days without internet does!! But to get back on and get to say something about our Gerry and his incredible acting ability and get back such wonderful and positive remarks, makes me feel sooooooooo good. And I sure need that right now. I so agree that his range of performance ability is incredible. I feel that it's got to do with his ability to put himself totally into his role. And yes, he is definitely in the catagory of some of the greatest actors ever to grace the silver screen.

Believe me, I told that sweet gal from IMBD that I had to think about going on and speaking about Gerry. I think, no, I KNOW!, if anyone made a derogatory remark about our incredible man, I'd be so mad, they would have burning eyes for a year with what I would say. I am a very loyal person to people that I love and I will fight, very hard, in defense of those people. And believe me, been there, done that. I love hard. And I have loved Gerry for almost twelve years and I am proud of this incredible man. I don't care what he wears and what he says. When it's right to wear a suit and tie, he does. And man, he looks awesome! When he's not working or doing photo gigs and he's out on his own, he has more than earned the right to wear what he wants to. I would only care about what he's wearing if it was not clean, and I don't ever imagine Gerry ever not being clean. And I llllllooooovvvvveeeeee it when he wears a shirt that isn't buttoned all the way down or up! :thud: Love to see that gorgeous chest and that incredible tummy!! :coldshower: I have got to stop this!!!! My only complaint is when his hair's too short. He has the most beautiful hair and I love to see it a tiny bit longer. I can just feel how soft it is! (STOP IT JOANNA!!!!!) But, if the 'razzie is going to get in Gerry's face so much, they have to take him the way he is. And he is entitled to 'private' time. I love what he says and if they don't like the easy, uninhibited way Europeans talk, then keep out of Gerry's face. I have watched him on interviews and he is wonderful and he talks properly. So IMBD people, I probably won't be there in reference to Gerry. Probably not very often anyway. Maybe to see what's up if they have an article on Gerry or Paul Byrom.

Anyway, Thank you ALL so much for the remarkably wonderful comments about our Gerry.

Love You ALL!!!

Tracy, :wuv:

I have been feeling really low lately and I don't know why! Even thinking of the awesome G-Man hasn't helped until today. Now I can't get the man off my mind!! Maybe because my internet is back up, and my wonderful son put one of my favorite pics of Gerry as my screen saver! I don't know Tracy, but you'd think after twelve years I'd be used to seeing that incredible man's face and it wouldn't still give me "vapors"!! But, nope, Gerry still moves me in every way a woman can be moved!!! Therefore the word I now use to describe this man is 'incredible'. I know he is a "human" man, but I think it's that very quality about Gerry that keeps me loving him so much and so long.

He's just too amazing and incredible and I never get tired of hearing and seeing him.

Hugs Sweet Tracy,

:archie: 's Joanna

Folks, please let's try to not do any site bashing in here and keep the discussion just about Gerry. Every site has it's own vibe. Just find the place(s) where you're comfortable.

Many thanks!

Oh, and Raz, I agree. The Jury is one of my absolute favorite performances of Gerry's. Simply fabulous. :wuv:

Raz,

I have "The Jury" and when I saw Gerry laying on the floor at the beginning of the third disc, I almost fell on the floor!! He was so gorgeous and so helpless looking, I wanted to grab him and take care of him myself. And his beautiful hair. So full and curly. He also looked so tall in that movie. I think it's because the other actors were so much shorter than him. But to me he is such a gorgeous man and I love that he's so tall. :yummy::drool1: I think there is no movie that I haven't seen with Gerry in it. I just don't own them all yet. I have to find some way to get the ones I have on VHS done on a DVD. I have to replace my "Mrs. Brown" tape soon. I am so afraid it's going to wear out!!!! I'll get that for Christmas from my grandson, I think.

You are so right about him being mesmerizing. The man is too incredible for words.

Hugs Raz,

Joanna

 Sorry DM,

It just makes me so angry to hear that. But be assured, I probably won't go there and if I do, I won't mention our Gerry. They don't deserve him anyway. :wuv:

Forgive me,

Joanna

Im glad someone put a thread for Miracle Match. I loved that movie!

The part when he gets upset about losing during the practice game and he's trying so hard in the rain. I love that scene when they are playing in the rain. That and when he doesnt want to get on the bus and everyone else gets off the bus and walks with him. I love those scenes :)

As to IMDb message boards, I must admit that I watch it from time to time (for several months already, but never have registered and/or posted); of course, we even cannot agree with everything that is written there. But, first of all, that is not a fan site - so people posting there necessarilly have much broader range of opinions than we do - there are fans there, but there are also people much more critical (for different reasons, I assume), there are posts openly provoking.... But I am sure you all know it from "normal life" as well. There must be thousands of boards like that on IMDb (of all the films and people...), there are critical (or even "ugly") comments on the other boards as well.

By registering at this site, we all openly admit we have GALS (probably of different strength, but definitely we all are somehow "positively biased" as to GB). We must admit that not everybody is like that, and, unless the posts are really offensive (which is - even over there - only a minority of the posts) there is not much we can do about it, I am afraid.:unsure::unsure:
