Lady Elissa
Suzie, as one who's been looking into housing prices in California lately, I'd say that house you want to buy would go for more like $1M! Especially when you add in the golf course, clubhouse, and tennis courts that are part of the develpment. Sue and Dan'l- come on out! Frannie, hope you're feeling better! Anna
Oh my poor old heart! I saw the headline, Jennifer Aniston Snags Gerard Butler...........and I went into shock, but no, it's for a movie, so that's OK! Well after that I'm going to read everything very carefully, I had them waltzing down to the altar for a moment, although I do wish he could get settled down and raise some beautiful babies, imagine, little wee Gerards, all with his eyes, and his smile, and lots of pics of himself getting all soppy! Sorry just daydreaming. Hope all the poorly Gals are feeling better, sending hugs to you all, and to those who are facing financial problems too. I thank the Good Lord I have security in my 'old age', would hate to be young and struggling. I think I may jump the Christmas ship, I have just realised I have bought the same gifts twice, that means another round trip of two hours to take them back, it's no joke living so far from civilization. Well the last of the Christmas cakes are baking in the oven now, I decided to bake extra, one for my gluten free friend, and one for a 'do' I'm having on the 7th Dec. I want to educate my southern friends to the wonders of eating fruit cake with creamy crumbly Wensleydale cheese. They all laugh at me when I tell them that's what we do, it's a northern tradition, think I can persuade them to at least try it. Tomorrow I have to make some more Cranberry and Clemetine Marmalade, yummy on toast, didn't make enough last week, and I shall do a few more jars of Pickled Pears, and that is it! After that I can start to enjoy the Countdown to Christmas, such a change from the last few years when I thought each Christmas was my last. 'Nuff of that, too depressing, so here's a cheer to celebrate Thanksgiving with you all, The Thanksgiving Denture Adventure The day was a nightmare; I'll try to explain the nieces and nephews and grandchildren came, and grandpa and grandma had just spent the week, this holiday dinner was more than unique. The turkey was nestled all snug in the stove as the moochers arrived at my door by the drove, already regretting inviting this breed, as their jackets came off and the children were freed. They stood there and glared like a posse possessed, just plotting and scheming some torture, I guessed, then lo and behold, like a bat out of hell, they turned on us grown-ups like some evil spell. While setting the table I let out a shriek, when a tiny white mouse from my gravy boat peeked! Then pickles went flying and pies hit the floor; I found a dead worm in the silverware drawer. As soda was spilling and olives were tossed, I thought about having my own holocaust, poor grandpa and grandma were fit to be tied, and hubby kept mumbling the word 'homicide'! The dog ran and hid after grabbing his bone, and I fled to the kitchen to be left alone, the house was in chaos--beyond my belief, when grandma cried, "Help me--I can't find my teeth!!" I said they were soaking right next to her bed, then gramps said, "Forget it...the woman's brain-dead!" This started her bawling as bad went to worse, I reached for the aspirin while chanting a curse. While searching the house grandma sputtered and choked, and I wondered which brat took her teeth as a joke, but my thought was short-lived as a crisis arose, someone's kid had a carrot stick lodged up their nose! The turkey was done, so we sat down to eat with poor grandma still sporting a look of defeat, this Thanksgiving madness had altered her mood for she hadn't her dentures to savor the food. I dished out the dressing and to my surprise a pair of false-teeth lay in front of my eyes! I'd have left out the spices if only I'd known... that the stuffing I cooked had a 'bite' of it's own! raina snow
Oh Frannie I just do what I would love others to do to me. Anna I bet you did freak. I almost did too. It has turned cold here today did you send this Frannie? Dot said its 19 today in NH. its going to 27 again tonight. brrrrr have to get out my long handles. Scottie so sorry, jobs are hard to come by around here anyway. I am sure God will open another door for you. I just went shopping I make lots of German cookies to give away to the ladies at the bank and neighbors and the hospital ladies. I make Pffeneuse? can't spell it, Springeler(an anise cookie) chocolate chips, nutmeg logs, cookie press decorated cookies, hello dollies a bar cookie, pastachio squares, and I may add salted pecans to it if I am not tired by then. I have to make the pffeneuse now and put it in a tin it has to cure so to speak it has molasses in it. I love it better if the kids were here to help me. I will miss them so much who knows when I will get to see them again. Well I hope everyone has a good weekend. I will be back Lord willing. Texas gramma
I hope everyone's holiday preparations are going along on schedule. Thanksgiving is tough for me too as it's the anniversary of the loss of my hubby. But life goes on and the memories are so sweet. The seller's of the house I want have agreed to my offer, so we start the clock. I hope to be able to move in around December 10th! Of course, everything depends on whether the house passes inspections....I won't buy another broken house like I did last time! (It cost the insurance company over $31,000 to repair the foundation!) Anna, your poem reminded me of the year my brother in law brought his family to our house for Thanksgiving. His youngest boy was four and didn't know what giant green olives were. He popped a whole one in his mouth, gagged and proceded to throw up on the middle of the table as we were being seated! After what he did to the relish tray especially, the meal was a very strained affair! Everyone have a great weekend!!! Suzie
irish
Oh Suzie, ! That's one big hurdle...and I just can't believe anyone would DARE and try to sell you a broken house! We'd have to sic a few people on them if they did.... Erm, are you going to keep your PO Box until after the holidays (asking where to send your Christmas card...lol) Oh please God, don't let anything like that happen at my dear sister in law's house this Thanksgiving...we're bringing B2!!! LMAO... That poem was so funny Anna dear! to you Maria and you Suzie and anyone else who lost a dear one around the holidays...I know it makes it hard....I lost my mom in November too. love and hugs, Sue

raina snow
Hi all you wonderful Gals, Suzie you never did tell me are you still in Texas or did you move out of state? I got my German cookie make today (one of them) the one that sits in the tin for 3 weeks. Made 4 and 1/2 dozen. ' I walked 45 mins and I didn't get a wink of sleep last night again 2nd night. I had such a scratchy throat every time I breathed it hurt and it kept me awake. Gerald gave me his amoxicillin I can take that and some of his cough syrup the dr gave him . It works good but I could not sleep this afternoon I tried to take a nap. Maybe its a good thing I didn't. It was cool here today not so cold as last night for tonight. I was so cold last night I went in the shower just to get warm. Well nothing much going on here, I guess that is good. Have not seen my grandkids since they moved to texas in may of last year, and I really miss them. It won't be anytime soon either before I see them. I know I am a broken record on this but I love them to pieces. I am so use to seeing them grow and play and everything that it hurts. Well have a good night all, sleep well . pleasant dreams to all. love ya'll Raina Snow
