"Good Movie For A Not So Good Movie Season. "

I wasn't particularly swayed too much by this trailer but considering the summer period was almost over and we film lovers now have to survive the cheap horror winter season, Rocknrolla seemed like a nice surprise.

So i saw it last night.

And, to the tell the truth, i absolutely loved it! Obviously apart from guy ritchies excellent direction it had some absolutely fantastic dialouge with some pin sharp conversations and trademark British humour.

The story revolves around several characters, each do something that affects another character within the story. Characters are The Wild Bunch with Gerard Butler, Thandie Newton the accountant, Tom Wilkinson the gangster.

I could say more but there are a lot.

The film to start i found was rather complicated but as time went on i got used to all the characters and they're relationships etc etc.

It's filled with some great top notch sequences but my favourite and the crowds favourite was "The Invincible Russians" Overall this is a great film and breaks the dead lock of cheesy cheap films we get around this time of year.

go see it now!

Overall: B

I am too looking forward to seeing this movie, but I'll probably have to see it twice, as the first time will be spent staring at Gerry's every movement and facial expressions and then hanging on his every word with his beautiful, seductive voice. Then...I'll go see it again for the story. LOL!

P.S. I hope Gerry doesn't die in this one! Please don't tell me!

I too found it a little hard to understand. The accent for one, but also the first of the movie. I'm not sure if I was a bit 'off' because Gerry was sitting somewhere in the theatre behind me, or I just found the first of the movie a bit hard to follow because, after all, it was a Guy Ritchie movie and not at all presented like most movies in the box office these days.

But I loved it and can't wait to see it again, when my attention is fully on the film and the characters. I usually watch movies more than once and this is a prime example. When/if it's released here I'll go to the theatre and get another look at it. Or buy the DVD. I did LOVE the humor!

I've seen Lock, Stock & Snatch so I am looking forward to seeing Rock n Rolla! I love the British humor & way about them. Gerry used to knock about Glasgow so he should fit right in with this movie!

I guess this is maybe what Alan Horn said is that some may not get it if some of you had a hard time following the story. There was only one bit of dialogue that I did not get but it hit me on my 4th watching and I felt an idiot for not putting it together with a major storyline. I would not say it is a very English film as English film I associate with Gosford Park and those Emma Thompson type films - this is definitely a londoners movie and if you are not aware of what is happening in London with all the Russians moving in on real estate and buying up everything like the football clubs etc the dialogue might not make sense to some of you. Not that you can't understand what is being said but why they are talking the way they are. Idris was right at a recent Q&A when he said this film could not be made anywhere else other than London without changing a good bit of the storyline.

I do think it has been a poor year for films to be honest and this is one of the best and I honestly think I would think so even if Gerry was not in it.
