Goooooooood Morning GALS!!! It is a lovely day in So.Cal. - temps are going up around 80 they say (this is winter?????) Maybe Gerry should be HERE now instead of somewhere that is still awfully chilly. I'd think he might want to warm up after spending a couple of months in Montreal. Hey Ger - stop by for a little stay and I'll be happy to warm you up!

My Santa arrived this morning (well sort of) - the biggest thing I got on my bonus shopping spree Saturday arrived today (it really is the SMALLEST thing but with the biggest price) - it is my Sony Vaio notebook computer that is teeeeeeny tiny and weighs all of about 2 pounds (if that) with the battery attached. It is amazing how much is in this little thing. I can't wait to get it charged up and see how it works - though the tiny keyboard will take some getting used to because it is very small. I wonder if Gerry's computer is like this one? It would easily fit into that man-bag he likes to carry. In fact it would fit into just about any purse I own and still have plenty of room for other necessities like wallet and cell phone.

Lish I am so sorry you are sick on your birthday - that really does suck. Hope a good does of Gerik will make you feel better.

Bethy - I got your card yesterday, that is so adorable and yummy! Thank you.

Gotta run - the days are flying by and I still have so much to do. I haven't even shipped out my sister and brother-in-law's gifts yet - they are going to have to go Express Mail or Fed Ex now. A few more GALS cards are going in the mail today, a few went yesterday. Some aren't going to make it out until after Christmas, I'm so sorry.

Here is an assortment of Gerry-liciousness. Sort of like the Whitman Sampler only ours is the Butler Sampler

I'm back from school already and it's only noon!! School started at 9.10 this morning and got out at 12.20! What a waste of time!! But we are FINALLY out of school for the holidays! w00t! :dance3: lol I just love that little guy!

Tonight is opening night of Night in Bethlehem thingie, and I've got major cramps. Grrrr... Every year.... Still, mum says that I should look like I'm "in pain" and I said, "like what?" and she told me cramps. So here you go! Sorry bout all that, just really bummed about that.

On a good note, I've got a voice recital next week! And my current item of *ahem* interest is going to be there, of course, because he's in the same "studio" as me. heehee. Erm, I've taped my index and middle finger together, so it's hard to type. But it is intersting, that's for sure!

:cell:

Well, I've just got a phone call on my non-cell phone that I've got to sing tonight! For the opening of the Bethlehem thing. Oof! I've got 5 hours to get ready, and I have to do the dishes and a bunch of other stuff to, so, good gye!!

:dance3: :penguin:<===So cute!!

 See you all....later?

Hiya GALS,

It is so calm at work now with the Christmas period. But it is no fun just sitting there. So I'm a bit bored.

Dawn- I got the package , I love those DVD's

Good luck there, Madame! You'll be great! :dance3: <------ I love that little guy as well. ::D: Sorry about the cramps, though. Blah!

Sofie- It gets pretty slow around here at Christmas, too. Nice to have a break like that, but couldn't do it all the time.

Doc! Good to see ya here! So glad you and Tierney got back safely in the snow...I guess there were a lot of wrecks that night. :scared:

 to everyone!

Hi everyone! Day 2 of time off, it is going so fast, I wish it would slow down. Isn't it the way Sofie, the stuff you enjoy doing goes by so quickly, and the not so fun stuff drags on and is boring. I hope the fun stuff is coming your way soon!!!! :cunning:

Funny note, last night I heard a really weird sound in the living room, I was a bit too scared to get out of bed and check but it kept happening, kind of a squeaky, rustling noise. I finally got up, and it was coming from the Christmas tree, I thought, wow, Santa brought Gerry early and put him under the trea for me already tied up, instead, it was the stupid cat, she had tried to climb the tree, slipped and started hanging herself on the cord from the lights. Stupid cat! I was disappointed it wasn't Gerry, but glad the cat didn't hang herself. That woudn't have been too fun to find under the tree. :tree:

Madame-hope you feel better soon! Have fun anyway!

Dr. Em- Glad you're back and safe too!!

Hope everyone has a great day!!! :xmas2:

Hi,

For most of you the day is well underway but here in Australia it is just starting. Am at work and like Sofie, hardley anyone here. At least I have a nice lunch date to look forward to with a friend I haven't seen in a while.

Dr Em, sorry about your hair but by now I hope it's all fixed.

Fergie, can't cats do the darndest things - and make humans do them too eg getting up in the middle of the night.

Madam Angel, hope the recital goes will. Have fun - cramps and all (is that possible???)

Sporran, here it is already over 80 degrees F and rising with an overcast sky. Hot and I bet a wind is going to aide and abet the heat. Canberra is on the southern highlands and you would think cool..... but NO. Not this time of year. A hot Christmas predicted. Maybe Gerry should come downunder to get warm. Plenty of room in my bed... erm I mean house.

Okay, now really have to get to work otherwise my day off tomorrow is not going to be.

Morning me GALS.

It's still as HOT as Hades here. I am finding it very hard to be motivated to do ANYTHING. Christamas day is forecast for at least 35 degrees. (Thats 95 F) with high humidity. I am gonna be sweating all day!

We are having insulation installed in our roof today. This summer has been so hot and Simon and I decided that we had to get the roof insulted. Because it's an older house there is no insulation, so that doesn't help when it's so hot. Apparently it will be about 8 degrees cooler inside after we get it. Hooray!

Alex and I are going to do the Christmas Groceries today. I posted my final lot of over seas Christmas cards yesterday. The last lot only took 2 days to get there, so I am hoping that these are the same.

Hope you are all have Gerrylicious days!

Hugs

S

Hi Gals

Had to do a lot of catch up as I was not on yesterday evening. I was just too tired.

Sofie and Abrock, if you are bored at work come over to my working place, no boredom there I guarantee.

I'm drowning and worked until 8.p.m last night. And on top of this my new boss is going on my nerves like mad. At work I'm sitting mentally praying for serenity, wisdom, patience - well actually I'm reciting the Serenity Prayer. She is basically nice but I wonder sometimes if her brain works differently than ours. The most simple things I explained to her already several times, just don't get into that head of hers. I just don't know what to do sometimes. I want to shout at her but hey - probably not a good idea.

Sorry for the little rant, but due to all this stress my shoulders and hands hurt again (rheumatic stuff) and this doesn't make things easier.

Luckily I'm almost finished with wrapping up Christmas gifts. Tomorrow I will buy a tree and decorate it on Saturday with real candles.

Now back to the normal schedule here. Here is our man..

Sarah, you can send over some heat, we have 0° C here.

Well on the other hand, for once they promise snow for Christmas, which would be really lovely.

Risa - please tell me you don't LIGHT those real candles when they are on the tree!!!! That is just so dangerous (even if it is beautiful). We have two friends who are retired firefighters and they said when a Christmas tree goes up it usually EXPLODES (it doesn't just burn). That is too scary!! Please be safe!! Sorry your new boss is such a bonehead.

Do you have some sort of rheumatic disorder? I ask because I just got a call from my husband and his doctor is sending him to a rheumatic specialist. For quite some time now his bloodwork has been way off where it should be for inflammation and they've been trying to pinpoint the problem. They think they have eliminated lupus and MS but now she is at a loss and is sending him to a specialist. The blood work this time was even worse than last time and he is having problems with his feet, ankles and fingers (either pain or numbness). I know nothing about inflammatory diseases so I have no idea what he might be facing, or what he might be going through. The doctor now says his chronic (like most of his life) sinus problems may be related to this too.

Brent came home tonight and told me that his parents want to come here Friday through Sunday. I have been in tears because I don't want to hurt Brents feelings but I don't want them here right now. You have to understand where I am coming from. They are STRICT Baptists. His dad is a missionary. They wear nothing but the long dresses etc. They treat me very cold when they are here. I guess because I am not the perfect Christian girl they wanted their son to marry. His dad doesn't even speak to me in my own home. They are so messy. They will dirty every dish in the house and just leave it all sitting there. I could go on and on about them. It is not just them but his twin sisters are with them. They are 26 yrs. old. I just got rid of a room mate and was really looking forward to having Christmas to ourselves. We already have plans for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day and I can't take them with to my family's homes. So I don't know what to do? I just wanted a quiet, relaxing peaceful Christmas. I don't want to have to clean and take care of people who don't even like me. Another thing is with the situation with Brent not working we will not have any extra money for groceries to feed them. Help me GALS!!!!!!!!!! What do I do?

Suz

I just read this and realized I sounded a little selfish. I am not trying to be in any way, but I am so down right now, I just don't want to have to deal with them right now.

Thank you for the well wishes and prayers for my husband. I just wish I had some clue what was going on.

Suz ~ here is what I would do (you KNOW I always have advice, even when nobody is asking).

You should tell Brent that you understand his family is important to him but that your family (meaning him and your children) come first and you have already made plans for the weekend. It is a bit late and very inconsiderate for his family to be inviting themselves to come visit. In return you could suggest an alternative date for them to visit and you decide if it is to be for a weekend or just for one evening (I don't know how far they have to travel to visit). He also needs to understand how you feel about finally having the house to yourselves again AND that the financial burden of having 4 more people to feed for several days is more than you can handle right now. If he is the gem you've described him to be he should understand. Has he ever talked to his parents about how it is wrong for them to treat you poorly in your own home? He needs to know that you and your children should be his first priority now, not his parents, and if they cannot be civil to you when they come to visit then he should tell them he is sorry but they aren't welcome there until they can treat you properly. (I listen to Dr. Laura too much).

Thanks for the yummy pictures and I'm sending hugs back at you.

Thanks Susan, you always seem to have just the right thing to say to straighten out my head. I will have a talk with Brent when he gets home and hopefully he will understand. He is a gem, but I do feel like when it comes to his parents I am always put on the back burner. He tries so hard to get their approval that he becomes a different person when they are around.

Thanks for the advice and it is always welcome.

Suz, just read your issue. I totally agree with Sporran, only way to deal with it. Smart girls isn't she.

I had the same issues with my husbands family and we always discussed it. We came up with compromises that suited everyone. He eventually banned his mother from our house when she overstepped the mark on him. Unfortunately for me it too quite a few too many years.

I can really understand your wanting Christmas to yourself and family so lots of hugs and support from me.

I was nervous when I had to sing, but it wasn't as bad as it could have been. I'm goiong to go to bed now, because I'm very tired. Actualy I have to eat food first! I haven't eaten much of anything since breakfast. *stomach grumbles* Toodles! :dance3:

Hey Susan...

Just found the clip of your Gerry-signing adventure...love how he kept purring "Sporrrrran" as in Sarah's post over and OVER again!

That and I got to see the pics that Jodi (Black Opera Mask) had....lovely!

Hope everyone is done with their holiday shopping...I was out tonight and the old ladies were out for blood! Malls are a MESS! You might need pepper spray for your own personal shopping safety!

It's so hot here, the bloke who was meant to be installing our roof insullation has sun stroke.

I'm sure there's some irony there!

semmsb,

Yep, irony received. Not quite so hot here, only 33C but I'm melting (pun almost intended - cause I am a witch, just ask my kids hee hee). My son just down from Maroochydore and he is saying it's quite hot and sticky so there is a yardstick anyway. He arrived this AM so family coming home to roost for Christmas (if they didn't I would put a spell on them).

Been working hard today and unfortunately have at least half a day's work tomorrow. Blech!!!! Unfortunately, with all the kids home I don't get the plasma screen to myself to watch Gerry movies and my family is getting sick of TR2, Timeline, POTO and Dear Frankie one after the other. WHAT is wrong with them????

Sitting here now drinking champagne so mellowing out and happy to be here sharing with all you lovely gals with GALS.

See ya ron
