becozy
from Lionsgate twitter: EXCLUSIVE – GAME gets new title - CITIZEN GAME - in theaters 9/4 ****** Note from Barb...sorry it took me so long to get this news 'up'... hectic day and I had to track the story down to it's 'source', which should be legit, since it's actually from Lionsgate's twitter account. The Lakeshore site still shows as 'GAME" My ..sure hope they get a cohesive plan for marketing this movie! My take? Too many cooks

dairyqueen
HMMM that's interesting.Similar title as a well reknowned movie, yet may very well draw some of the "Game" audience/demographic over to LAC when it's released, garnering some name recognition for Gerry?I wonder what prompted that.... Susan~Sporran
It's been rumored since the film was in production that Game wouldn't be it's final title, I'm only surprised it took this long to come up with what they wanted to change it to. I'm liking the new title better, just think it's catchier, more likely to get noticed if someone only heard it and didn't know anything about it yet. dairyqueen
I think that maybe too the studio didn't want it to be confused with The Game" that was out awhile ago, since citizens play the game it ties in with the new title. It's growing on me....Tanya
irish
ileen .... I think the last pictures I've seen of Gerry in the Gallery are from London, not NY ... Thanks for the info Barb. hugs, Sue

THANKS AGAIN Sweetie, if you're speaking of the pics of Gerry in the kilt in Susan's siggy, those are from 2005 when Gerry appeared at the event...I assume you are speaking of Dressed To Kilt....as far as the title for the movie...little better, but it's awfully similar to LAC...hope it doesn't confuse people. Rubee815
Not too radical of a change though. I read another description of this film at another fansite that sounded much more interesting then anything I’ve heard so far. I was kind of “meh” on this movie to be honest but now I am becoming intrigued. Why not “Citizen Kable” I wonder? That’s a more direct reference to Gerry’s character and his importance to the action. GBPhanatic
How about "In The Game"? Isn't he trapped inside the game? Kind of has a double meaning. D

Erik's Ebony Eyes
Hummmm is right! Sounds a bit "corny"... Citizen Game - Citizen Kane...?????? Shakey at minimum! Erik's Ebony Eyes
bonnielass
It doesn't matter what they name it! Just called it "Gerry". We'll be there.
Sapphyre
Good grief, they need to get it right. I like some of the ideas here but yea I agree that Citizen Game sounds like Citizen Kane. Why'd he be a citizen if this is supposed to be for a gamer messing with people in jail....provided I got that part right.
phoenixgirl
It doesn't matter what they name it! Just called it "Gerry". We'll be there. You got that right, girlfriend! Okay, my two cents is that Citizen Game is corny. Too close to Citizen Kane AND Law Abiding Citizen (not that Gerry has anything to do with the titles). I don't like it, but who am I? Let's be honest, we'd all go see it if they called it "Dumbass Movie". Edited April 1, 2009 by phoenixgirl

Susan~Sporran
I'm sure we could come up with some very witty titles for them - maybe Lionsgate should have run a contest - "rename this movie" with the winner getting a free ticket to the premiere or something like that. My guess on the title, aside from it sounding like Citizen Kane, is that the idea is that Kable is trying to escape the game and return to his life as a regular citizen - so that's where I would see the word play coming into it. The name of the game is "Slayers" so they could have called it "Slayers Players". I actually like the idea of Citizen Kable - partially because of another play on words with in it - Kane vs Kable like Cain vs Abel. Ahhh....who knows why studios do the things they do???? jackie62
How about "In The Game"? Isn't he trapped inside the game? Kind of has a double meaning. D Delene, that sounds too similar to' on the game' in my opinion!!! I don't like Citizen Game, it's too simililar to Citizen Kane, I hope they come up with something better than that or just leave it be.
Dragon Slayer
According to MySpace Game this morning that is the official title. I don't like it at all...too confusing with many other movies with Game and/or Citizen in the title. As creative people, can't the filmmakers come up with a better name? Someone somewhere had suggested the name Slayerz...I really like that one. Maybe if there is enough hew and cry they'll change it?
