bellawolfe
To my fellow GALS, As most of you already know, I am an active duty military member, and was almost deployed to Kuwait in October. When I returned from training I was put in charge of the deployed members of my command. I raise funds to send them packages, and keep in contact with them on a monthly basis so that they don't feel as if they have been forgotten. I've had people mention to me that they'd like to help -which is awesome!! I don't want to collect donations, but if you'd like to help and send a package, or a card to one of my people I would definately love to pass out their names and addresses overseas! There's just a few quick notes you need to know when packing a box of goodies. No porn or alcohol is number one -not that you would send either! ~LOL~ All items in the box must be declared on a customs form so that they don't open the care package and slow it down. The most sought after items are: good coffee, home-made treats like cookies and such, pictures drawn by children, and toiletries. If you'd like to sponser someone, please add your name to this thread and I will PM you a soldier's name and address! Thanks!! ~Bella
Jeb
That's wonderful idea! I'd love to do something personal, sending a package overseas. Please add my name. Jane
littleirish
My son and I would love to sponsor a soldier. I remember when my cousin was in Viet Nam he loved getting packages from us and his family.
bellawolfe
Just a quick note, When you send out packages, please let me know when and how many as I have to track this information. The higher ups like to know that we are taking care of our members. Letters and cards don't need to be tracked as I email all of them monthly which is all that is required as a minimum. Also, I will only give you the name of one person unless you specifically ask for more than one name. ~Bella
Beejay
I'd love to be a part of this . . . please add my name to your list. I am going to ask my daughter and granddaughters to join with me in this small way to show our appreciation. Thanks for doing this. Barbara
Anna
Lulu and TJ already help me pack parcels here in the UK to send to our troops, they do seem to enjoy the anticipation, thinking of the person who will open their package....dread to think of the reaction to somethings they insist on including! The last inclusion was a drawing by TJ of 'Gerbils of the Carribean'....don't ask! Good luck Bella with your venture. hugs, Anna x
Guest
I did this with a charity organization and it was fun to send something even though it wasnt much like Anna said the anticipation of getting something and being remembered must be nice for the soldiers

bellawolfe
I was just curious about the shipping and limits on the box weight or size thats all you can go ahead and send me a name as well and I will figure the rest out thanks... Certainly sweetie!! Trouble away!! There are two good box sizes that are available free at the post office. They say "America Supports You" and are flat rate boxes, so they can be as heavy as you make them without extra charge. [As long as the flaps close smoothly.] The small shoe box style box is $8.95 flat rate and the bigger square shaped box is $10.95 flat rate. The best way to go! All you do is include the white customs form that is identified by PS form 2976-A. I'll PM you a name right away!! ~Bella

You touched my heart and since I live in Hawaii, I would love to sponsor and be in contact/penpal with any of who I can dearly help. We have excellent coffee, cookies and other goodies here in Honolulu and maybe send them some nice scenery photos of Hawaii, if that helps. Send me a pm and give me more details. Thank you!
