Virtual Con Attendees 'Wall'

Borrowing an idea from Vegas ( :ty: RezzRN!) but adapting it to the Virtual Con!

What to include:

Your photo (if you're comfortable - otherwise skip it ;) ),

your real first name,

your GALS member name'

Year of attendance at Vegas ('06, '07, '08) and/or Virtual Con ('07, '08, '09)

Then~personalize it with favorite photos of Gerry, or your family, your galsfriends,

pets, etc.; add a quote, poem or saying. Whatever you are comfortable with having 'out' on the internet!

We'll post clickable thumbnails - so your page can be as large as you like.

After you make the scrapbook page, add it to your image hosting and post a clickable thumbnail of it here!

The entries will be added, in alphabetical order (by member name),

in a special thread.

There are free scrapbook pages available on Photobucket, if you want to do it digitally.

If you have a photo editing program, there is most likely an application within.

Hewlett Packard (HP) has some free templates here

and some general info and guidance from About.com's Digital Scrapbooking

And of course, if you do paper and glue scrapbooking, just scan your page and upload that to Photobucket or send to me and I'll host it and add it for you. ;)

If you have any questions post 'em here or pm me.

This is NOT a contest, just a little way to get to know each other! :pointy:

Here's mine done with the Photobucket's scrapblog:

(note: it has 3 pages, but I only did one and deleted the other two, so that I'd have one page for our 'Wall'! :music: )

I opened a private Photobucket for us:

Password: GALSVC09 (the end is zero9)

Zanyzombie will be the moderator for this activity, but you may send your

Virtual Con Personal Page to either of us for inclusion!

Geez, I must be a retard! I tried using the PB scrapbooking system and could not figure out how to make my photos fit the templates! I suck at ANYTHING technical! Hahahah!

Maybe I'll just post a few pics on this thread and call it good!

BTW, this will be my very first virtual con!

It took me quite a bit of time to figure it out, Swannie!

Once photo is chosen drag it to the 'page' and if you click on the photo there will be brackets to resize by holding down the cursor and moving the cursorin to center, or out; and to drag the photo to where you want just put the cursor on the center, hold cursor and drag.

Don't give up, you have a 10 days to 'play' with it! :D

I swear, I spent over an hour in there dragging and trying to crop. Whatever happened to instructions?

I'll try again when I'm feeling more chipper. Thanks Barb!

 Stuart, I attended the last two and we do have a good time...Hoping I can be available again for this one! In the meantime Barb, I'll see what I can do for a wall thingy...I do not have a picture of me besides the one on my avi which i guess i can use unless I find one hidden away ...far far away somewhere!! ;)

I've never done any sort of scrapbooking before but I'll give it a whirl!

I kid you not! I just spent 3 hours working on my scrapbook pages and they were beautiful! (finally figured out how to use the tools)

After all that, I clicked the SAVE button, but when I viewed the finished pages, NONE of my work actually got saved. I am so upset!

GRRRRRRRRRRR! :tantrum: :tantrum: :tantrum:

Told you I suck at tech stuff!

Whew! I guess it just took a long time for FB to save the new images, because now they are showing up! Gonna work a little more on them (nice break from writing)

Frannie...you don't have to actually use a Scrapbook program -

since you're so proficient at signature making, do the same thing- and you can submit

a thumbnail to any size image. The actual 'page'can be scrapbook size or signature size, or really, any size in between, as long as it can be read easily when displayed!

:pointy:

Swannie! Glad you were able to work it out :claphands: ...now...we just need a clickable thumbnail to ONE page - as outlined in post one ;) please! If you want the 3 pages to run, please post the link to the three page version! :D

If everyone uses 3 pages of the scrapbook, I'll have to those members to host their own, as it will use up too much of my account's bandwidth if I host them all.

Stu! We have links already posted to the Virtual Con DF Movie Chat. :thankyou: for agreeing to host that! Do you have a 'wall page' you'd like to add?

:hugs:

Thanks, Swannie!

the link only takes me to Photobucket, so maybe you have to 'allow' that one to be shared?

Thanks for helping work out the details on this! :metoyou:

Hi Amy!

Here's how to do the thumbnail in PB:

check the box of the picture you're wanting to post, scroll down to the very bottom and click on the blue bar to the far right (it reads something like generate HTML, etc.)

On the new screen scroll down to I think the 3rd or 4th box (it says something about thumbnails for message boards right above the box.)

Highlight the code that's within the box, and right click and "copy"

Then go to your post, and right click and "paste".

I hope that makes sense! I know there's a tutorial on the site about how to post thumbnails, I'm just on site for a second, though!

Hugs,

Katie

Amy you need to go into your PB controls and make your album private. otherwise clicking on your thumbnail gives access to ALL your albums. PB changed things a while back and unless you physically go in and check the box to make it private then it will be public in every link.

Everyone with PB should go in and make sure they are private so no nosy peeps are poking around in private albums.

I tried Photobucket and I couldn't get it to work. I will make a ghettofabulous redneck one and I am thinking of making a video in honor of virtual con.

Love,

Tracy
