RAFFLE/AUCTION TEASERS

Recommended Posts

I wanted to give you all a little taste of some of the items we are going to have for our fundraising efforts this year. Make sure that you have enough cash with you (or available through the ATM's which are EVERYWHERE), or that your PayPal account is already VERIFIED so you are ready to go when you WIN WIN WIN something incredible.

Several items were sent to Gerry for autograph and they came back to me on Tuesday. Among those (I won't give it all away):

A framed scrapbook page that shows his career in miniature, autographed

A t-shirt from Scottish Youth Theatre on which he wrote a special note, along with his autograph

A print of one of Samwise's amazing Gerry drawings, framed and matted, on which he wrote a little note along with his autograph

My favorite - a shooting script of Dear Frankie, the cover page includes a special note and autograph from Andrea Gibb and another VERY special note and autograph from Gerry.

In addition we have 2 Rocknrolla one-sheet posters which were signed at Comic Con last year. One of these will be auctioned in Las Vegas and one will be auctioned in the virtual con. Each of these posters is signed by Gerry, Guy Ritchie, Idris Elba, Jeremy Piven and Chris "Ludacris" Bridges.

 Elissa!

Today is my 24th wedding anniversary and my wonderful hubby gave me $200.

I've already warned him that it may be used toward auction items! I reminded him that it's for charity!

It seems the good ones get married in June - today is David and my 18th anniversary too! He hasn't "committed" any funds to me for Vegas but he did deposit a rather princely sum into our joint savings account last week.... just sayin'...

You go girl! I cannot unfortunately. Even mentioning this almost caused him a stroke. We do not have the money right now.

It will be 18 years for me ( if we survive this "blackout" period...won't even go there...) and I am only 37! Yikees!

June may be a great time to get married, but it's also a great time to party in Vegas! Woo hoo!

 Susan, I continue to be impressed by the great items you collect for the raffles and auctions, and the proceeds all go to worthy causes!

And, of course, :hearts: to Gerry for autographing the items!

Hey, best anniversary wishes to the three of you and your hubbies!

...and I can just envision our dear Gerry as he takes pen in hand and signs his John Hancock--with a flourish, no doubt--to the auction items...what a guy! Kinda makes your heart flutter a little to think how recently he touched those items! *sigh*

Here are a few pictures of our "raffle prep" day - when we make the baskets and gift bags all pretty looking. My helpers are Cheri (gypsygirllovesgerry) and her sister Tamara. Our other usual helper - Debby - couldn't be there this year so her magnificent bows are not to be found. But I think we did pretty good.

This is an amazing collage that Cheri made for the auction - it contains 2 stones that I picked up on Frankie's stone-skipping beach in Greenock on my first trip to Scotland, as well as beach glass and shells which Cheri and her sister have collected through the years.

This is the Rocknrolla poster signed at ComicCon last year. This one is for the virtual con, but there is a nearly identical one for Vegas, which is already packed in my car.

The car is all filled up with everything except my suitcase and I'll be hitting the road in about 10 hours. Viva Las Vegas!!

Those are AMAZING! I wish I had some talent that I could have lent to this. I hope everyone enjoys who wins. So glad it goes to charity.

Congrats to the ladies with the June wedding anniversaries.

Been checking out Abrock's vid clips & laughing & crying.....

Hope pics will be posted of who won what. It'll be nice to see smiling faces of the winners. :)

I feel I need to post something wonderful that happened in Vegas.

Elissa won a beautiful Goodie Bag full of Phantom deliciousness. But here is the wonderful part; in the bag was a San Fransisco Music Box Co Monkey Music Box. I have coveted one of these for about four years. I bought my daughter one, but never got around to getting one for myself. Elissa turned to me and said that she had one and asked me if I did, I said no, and she asked if I would like to have the one from the bag. Well, I burst right into tears right there!! What a truly gracious and wonderful thing to do.

Elissa I will never forget that, and every time I wind it up,I think of you and our double special connection. I love ya wooman!

Deb, thank you for sharing that jewel with everyone.

IMHO, Just another shining example of the tremendous generosity of spirit that flows throughout this group. Makes my chest hurt with the compassion that this man is capable of bringing out in people. Keep up the great work ladies (and gents).

This was amazing to witness in person.

I had the distinct honor and priveledge of winning two chipboard scrapbooks made by the fabulous Cassie! [How she finds time with her beautiful little baby and a ruff n' tumble son running her around I will never know!]

I will try and snap a few photos of myself with the books so that you all can see them as well, and of course they will travel with me whenever I attend a GALS function!

Thank you to all who donated and made the raffles an amazing sight!!

I hope many of the winners will have taken pictures with their prizes. I'm sure someone must have gotten a picture of lugerry wearing Bella's camo shirt on Friday or the Dracula/Judas cape on Saturday!

The women AND men I've met through this Gerry connection are the most kind-hearted and generous I've ever met. Piggy-backing on Deb's story - Deb and Sally made an amazing Phantom basket for the auction with the most incredible collection of Phantom goodies from all versions - back to the original. There were props and posters and CD's and books and candlesticks. Because I do the Phantom Pheast in L.A. every year I was coveting that basket, so I bid on it. Then a couple of more people bid on it and I wasn't sure if I could or should overbid. The absolutely wonderful GAL who won the basket turned around after making the payment for it and said to me "I bought it for you because you do so much for us I didn't want you spending your own money on it". It still brings tears to my eyes. I in turn am using the money that I would have spent on that item to purchase more goods for The Shade Tree. I never saw so many examples of just how "We're All Connected" as I did in the past few days.

As I said at the convention on Saturday night, I am not an overtly emotional person. I'm one of those who despite absolutely adoring the fim POTO I have never cried watching it (I did cry watching No One Would Listen the first couple of times). Yet this weekend I found myself in tears repeatedly. They weren't tears of sadness but tears of gratitude, tears of love, tears of connecting with people - it was and will continue to be very fulfilling.

I didn't get any pictures of myself with my prizes, but I'll have either hubby Good Sport or our daughter, Erin, take a picture of me with my autographed SNOGS picture, the framed sketch of Gerry done by Kim Schultz, and the :yummy: photo of Gerry before they go on the wall of my "shrine" in my computer room.

Deb-The monkey music box is very special to all who love Erik. I know you'll give it a great home. :rose:

Congratulations to all who won a gift and were lucky enough to bid and win... All the stories are so heart warming and just another reason I'm so Damn proud of being a GAL!

I have a story of my own...although I wasn't able to attend the Vegas Con I did participate in the bidding on the RNR poster...well due to the tragic event that took place over the bidding period I couldn't get back on to bid in time so I lost out...But I am very happy for the winner and I know she will give it a good home... Well just today I received a PM from our Galfriend Jude ...seems her and Nancy (Attila Girl) got their heads together and because I lost the bid they are sending me a wonderful pressie I believe from Judes own collection ...because I don't know what it is yet...you will all have to wait and see ...just like me!! :p I have to tell you this gesture touched me to my very core! So after reading all your great stories I just had to share mine!!
