AND NOW.... the original thread.

Being the compassionate person that I am, I can recognize a cry for help when I see one. Having said that, I have decided to start a new support group for those of us with Gerry Addicted Lust Syndrome – from now on, all with Gerry Addicted Lust Syndrome with be known as GALS.

This group is open to all GALS and non-GALS alike who believe they are in serious need of support and guidance as they realize how serious their addiction has become. This is not a support group which advocates traditional intervention, as the failure rate would be astronomical, but merely a group whom you can turn to who share in your addictions or withdrawals, whichever the case may be. Some of the signs that you have GALS include, but are not limited to:

1. You buy every magazine on the rack looking for photos or articles of Gerry and start to get the jitters when there has been no sign of him for weeks.

2. You drive 500 miles to see a Gerry movie.

3. Your significant other (or just someone you're dating) gives you stark reminders they are SOOOO NOT Gerry.

4. Co-workers, friends and/or family start teasing you for your addiction – people can be so cruel...

5. You become addicted to caffeine because you can’t pull yourself away from GALS...."'cause just MAYBE he'll be on Chat tonight."

6. You obsess with much glee, "Gerry has a computer...and he knows how to use it!!!!"

7. You find yourself asking aloud, "Did he REALLY mean what he said about the 3:00 a.m. thing and does he REALLY wear a size 11 shoe?" Then smile broadly.

8. You catch yourself speaking in a Scottish accent for no apparent reason.

9. You change the decor in your bathroom to accommodate your new yellow towels.

10. The "G-Spot" takes on a whole new meaning.

11. You spend days wondering why a Scot would be named "Andre."

12. You buy “Mrs. Brown” just for the skinny-dipping scene and play that one scene in slow mo and super slow mo, over and over and over again. (Okay, so maybe that was just me.) :D

13. You have a picture of Gerry in your wallet, and refer to him as “your man, Gerry.”

14. You spend your hard-earned cash assigned for other “non-essential” items (phone bill, power bill, etc.) on essential Gerry related items.

15. You go shopping for your “real-life” man and finding yourself thinking, “OMG!!! Gerry would look so :censored: hot in that!!!

16. You have to buy a new hard drive to accommodate all your pics and videos of Gerry.

17. You search through a couple hundred $5.50 DVDs at Wal-Mart because an employee said Dracula 2K might be there.

18. You can't possibly walk past Starbucks without dreaming that maybe... *sighs*

19. You refer to the Gerry wallpaper on your computer as your “happy place.”

20. While looking up at the clouds you SWEAR there's a cloud in the shape of a "G"...funny thing is, the GAL next to you sees the same thing!!!

21. Multiples (Gerrygasms) are an every day occurrence!!!

This list will continue to grow as you tell me your addictions...

Below is a very simple 10-step program to help foster our addiction.

1. You must admit you have GALS. This is so important to further your addiction. Yes, this support group wants to nourish your addiction, not starve it. We are here for you.

2. Come to believe the Great and Powerful Gerry is greater than ourselves and only our visions and/or fantasies can keep us addicted. To truly become addicted, however, one must at one time in ones life made the Gerry Mecca Journey (GMJ) and meet him in person.

3. Make a decision to turn our will and lives over to our addiction to Gerry.

4. Make a searching and fearless immoral inventory of our fantasies of Gerry.

5. Lend your support to those who have GALS, but are yet unable to admit it.

6. Watch every movie (more than once) in which Gerry has a role. To be truly addicted, you must develop a love of all Gerry genres (yes, this includes “Tale of the Mummy” and “Dracula 2000”).

7. Frequently quote lines from Gerry films. Memorize them, use them, replace old phrases with new Gerry lines. This will prove to all your serious commitment to your addiction.

8. Know Gerry’s biography better than you know your own. True GALS will know all Gerry’s trivia. Study it, soak it in, become one with Gerry's biography.

9. Give generously (money folks) to the website which has fostered your addictions and allowed your fantasies to take flight.

10. Convert all who are convertible to this syndrome. This is the true mark of GALS. Do not judge - for your next recruit may be your boss!

As this is a relatively new Syndrome, the above guidelines are subject to editing, amending or scrapping all together as we GALS deem necessary.

The first step to true addiction is to admit you have GALS!! I will begin the group.

"My name is Dr. Em and I have GALS."

All are welcome to join in our group. GALS, we must not suffer in silence!!! We now have a voice!!! Let it be heard!

*Disclaimer: We GALS appreciate not only Gerry’s royal hotness for which there is no rival, we indeed, also recognize his abundance of talent, soul, passion, spirit, sense of style and humor, sincerity...can I stop now? Our addictions are all-encompassing and we embrace Gerry EVERY WHICH WAY WE CAN!!!*

To Cleobethra for our “Warning Label.”

Ain't it fun being a GAL right now? My poor DVR is running overtime. Last night I recorded ET, Inside Edition, Extra, Access Hollywood and E News....and Gerry was on all of them! (OK, some were better than others, and ET was pathetic as usual, but hey, it was Gerry!) Then there are all the clips and pictures being posted. I'm in my Gerry Piggy Happy Place!

Gonna go splash around in Gerry Juice now!

Dearest Sue,

I'm so happy to hear you made it to San Francisco and back safely! I'll continue to keep you and Dan'l in my thoughts and prayers that this new med is going to be the answer for his recovery. It sounds like you have a great team surrounding Dan'l with him being a top priority.

Take care of yourself and your sweetie. Hopefully, he won't have to endure another "Mr. Toad's Wild Ride" again for a while!

Posted Image my friends! Tomorrow I have to drive back down to the bay area (not SF but Napa) for my soon to be grandson's baby shower. I talked to my son and B2 will be there so I'll get in some hugs and kisses that will make the trip a little less painful. Dan'l can't make it....the drive is just too hard on him but my sister in law Sharon is going to drive down with me so I won't be alone and Dan's daughter Darla and Sharon's hubby Fred will be up here in case Dan'l needs anything. It's going to be 7 hours there and back driving.... :bleh: but thank God my car was finished yesterday evening and so I will have my own car to drive and NOT the PT Cruiser...lol. I actually liked the PT Cruiser for zipping around town ... just not the long drive.

Yes, Suzie, it is a good time to be a GAL!

love and hugs to all.

So Diane, sounds like you liked TUT a lot... I just can't wait and the publicity this movie is gettiing is awesome... I think on the comedy channel it's The Ugly Truth day today... guess they mention the movie every commercial or something like that.

I had the TV on all last night on the stoopid HGTV channel... What did I know?

Trying to sneak on every now and then cause it's been a busy week-end so far at the bar and I told Hubby I wanted to rest a while this afternoon before going back tonight..We have a b-day party going on for our Karaoke guy! Anyway, when he comes home I know he'll see me on my puter and you know what he's gonna say!!! :p

Oh YES..... it is a GREAT time to be a GAL.

Glad you got down and back to SF well, and that this new med and doctor group sounds promising. And YEAH for your own car! B2 is the best of best, Irish, my friend. I'm sorry I wasn't able to plan on making that nasty trip down and back with you, but I am soooo glad you have someone to go with you.

Hotter than Hades, ladies, in the BIG R (translation, Redding). Time to stay in, stay cool, watch movies, and make jewelry. It's very much like I grew up in Texas, get up at 6 AM --- go outside to water, do projects, and then get back into the house and close it up by 10 AM. It has a lot of the same qualities of deepest winter (i.e., buying food ahead and staying out of the weather!).

Have a lovely weekend, ladies.

Hi Sue,

Glad to hear you got back safely. Driving a strange car a long way is a pain. Kept thinking about you & Dan all week, wondering if anyone had heard from you.

Hope the new meds are successful & don't make Dan sick.

Your little grandson is a very handsome lad.

good genes from his grandma no doubt.

I'll keep you all in my prayers

Oh Diane, this is sad news...I think we all understand cause they are our fur babies and we love them as such! I lost my fur baby ...a Maltese named Sunny cause he was my ray of Sunshine ....a few years ago and I was devastated then and I still tear up ever now and then when I see his picture or think about him! I know it's going to be very hard to tell your Daughter while she's on vacation though!

I had a lot of fun at my parents' last night for dinner with all my siblings & their spouses.

My sister surprised me by telling me we are going to TUT on Friday night, our step sis is coming & possibly both of their best friends. I squealed so loudly & just bear hugged my sister while talking to my step sis & thanking her. We're getting dolled up yet I'm going to be the one NOT in the sun dress, I do have a pretty dress I'm going to wear & we're going to dinner & then the movie.

We all had a ton of laughs to the point of tears.

At one point though outside on the screened in patio my dad announced that my late mother's twin, said our uncle had emergency surgery last week for a tumor on his brain. They don't know if it's cancerous or not. They don't know how much longer he has. He has a wife & daughter. The only "good" thing was that it's not hereditary, it was bad luck of the draw.

I haven't seen this jerk (can I use that word?) since he got married & I was maybe 4 or 5 & my sister was in a stroller. I have pictures of just the four of us at that wedding. He never kept in touch & lets say my mom's side of the family was not ever happy. So mom kept close to her twin & sometimes her oldest brother (the oldest sibling of the pack). My dad did admit he's kept us away from her side of the family except mom's twin. Mom's anniversary is Nov 25th & it'll be 12yrs (?). He didn't even bother to fly from Alaska to see his neices & say goodbye to his own sister. I've hated him ever since. I never knew him really either and I have yet to meet his daughter & I don't even remember his wife that he married when I was little. His excuse was he didn't have the money to fly into TX. BS, it's called the whole family & I'm sure his friends would have all chipped in if only for him to come to the funeral. Everyone BUT him came.

So when the news was delivered last night I felt indifferent.

Please keep me in your thoughts as this job hunting mania is going on. I did a brief phone interview & I hope that although I lack some skills they will hire me & I can get caught up super fast because they need a receptionist BADLY. I was a person who applied early on & they had been through at least 100 resumes & had over a thousand people apply. I thanked him very politely for taking time out of his day to call me.

Also I have new neighbors & I've very, very hesitant about them. I liked not having anyone on the other side of the duplex. I will try to be open mided but it can be hard in the neighborhood I live in.

Love to all

PS I plan to sneak off EARLY morning on Friday to see TUT just in case my sisters back out at the last minute. So I might be going twice :D

 everyone! We returned home from our vacation today. Had a great time, but it's always good to be home. Unfortunately, in our absence, our feral kitty family left our yard. We hired my nephew to come over and feed the momma cat and her 3 babies and water our plants while we were gone. We made sure to leave plenty of food and water in automatic dispensers, plus cans of food for him to open every day. My sister said the cats were all still here yesterday evening, but there was a broken Smirnoff cooler bottle on our patio and the dry cat food dispensers which had been pretty full the day before were completely empty when she and my nephew came over yesterday. Today, there's no sign of the cats anywhere. Our gate was locked, so if anyone came onto the patio, they had to have climbed the fence. I hope the kitties come back. We were going to trap them and adopt them into our fur family.

Diane, I'm sorry about your daughter's dog. It's always hard to lose a pet. :hearts:

Hugs to all!

:metoyou: Thank you my sweet galfriends for your words of comfort for loss of Chi, my granddoggie. My daughter just called and I told her. It's so hard to do that even though they knew it was inevitable.

They had just arrived at their hotel in Maui. Thank the Good Lord they had a safe trip.I hope they can enjoy their time there, albeit sad about their furbaby.

Prayers that you find your kitty furbabies soon, Elissa.

I watched "Marley & Me" twice last week and I cried both times! I've never owned a dog, but I'm sure that it's hard to lose one, especially if they have been in the family for many years. So sorry about your granddoggie. :wuv:

Thanks, Diane, for the good wishes regarding my missing feral cat family, but I don't think they're coming back. I just hope they're ok. The mystery regarding the missing cat food was solved this morning when hubby got up early and saw a large flock of birds on our patio feasting at the dry cat food dispensers. I think someone came into our yard while we were out of town and scared the cats away. We not only found a broken bottle on our patio, but several other things were not the way we left them. My sister said she and my niece and nephew saw a bunch of teenagers in the back yard next door when they came to feed the cats on Saturday. Again, my condolences on the loss of Chi. :hearts:
