Gerard Butler tells The Ugly Truth in a Yankee accent

By Ian CaddellL

ANGELES—Up until now, Scotland’s Gerard Butler has been a rarity: a

British actor who has been able to keep his accent when making movies

in the U.S. However, things have changed with the comedy The Ugly Truth,

which is currently playing in Vancouver theatres. Butler was asked to

play an American TV personality who gives sex tips on a morning show.

He says, in an L.A. hotel room, that he felt he was doing fine until

the point in the script where the character is invited to appear on The Craig Ferguson Show.

The embarrassment of having to speak with an American accent on his

Scottish friend’s TV show reminded him of other occasions when he ran

into criticism for being too “American”.

Thanks, Barb. Cute article ... and I think someone (maybe Susan) mentioned how difficult it must have been for Gerry to do the American accent opposite "Caraig" in that scene. I bet they had a good laugh over it, though.

What I found amusing about this was that G used an "American" accent in the movie that was filmed in Vancouver, "Butterfly on a Wheel" aka "Shattered".

Yes, it is Lolita. He had her in his trailer and kept going in and out to see

her some article said. Jennifer had her dog, Norman on the set that same

day.

I love seeing them together. They are absolutely adorable together.

Love him absolutely,

Sandy

It wasn't really an article, Lisa. It was just a blurb that posted with the pics from the set yesterday.

I adore seeing Gerry with Lolita! They make such a cute pair! I like that t shirt Gerry's wearing too...GO BUFFS!

I wish they would have taken a pic with Jen and her dog. He's a Corgi mix and really cute too. I love Corgis as I should, I have three of them!
