GBPhanatic
That was a very testosterone induced interview I'd say, but good none the less. Gerry seems to get antsy and paces sometimes! He gets a lot nervous energy going, like a race horse! However, I may never look at a Krispy Kreme the same way again! Thanks, Barb. GerryLady
My favorite part... "What was the funniest moment on the set of Gamer? [butler is chuckling] This is going to show my maturity now, I wrote to the two directors separately. I wrote that me and the stunt guys are having a blast and sent them half a dozen donuts each as a thank you. They were so chuffed. The next day we got six fresh donuts and shoved them between our arse cheeks... and took a Polaroid. [butler is in fits] We sent this snap to the directors and sure enough, they thought they’d been eating the very same sugary treats. They freaked out, man. That’s pretty sick. I told you it was going to show my maturity. It was my birthday that day, and in the evening about ten of the cast also dropped trousers to reveal Happy Birthday Gerry written across their cheeks. Come to think of it, there was a little too much arse in the making of this film. " Gosh, to get a hand on that photo!! And this... "Before we go, we’ve got to ask; you had problems with drink and are now teetotal. Do you miss drinking? No. It’s been years now and it’s like it never happened. Like, I can’t remember drinking. When I stopped I would look at a beer and think how great it would be. I’d get this pang in my stomach to go back out and have fun, but then I’d remember that I used up that right - that I did a full life worth of drinking between 14 and 27. That I’d done enough drinking for half a dozen people. And now I have no connection with it. I don’t feel anything when I look at it. I’m not afraid of it and I don’t celebrate it. There’s times when I miss the feeling of being out and feeling more care free and crazy, but I worry about those that can’t have fun without a drink. That’s prolific in society – have you noticed? People who don’t have a drinking problem per se, but don’t feel comfortable without one. What happens when you stop drinking is you go through that and it comes back to the way you were before you ever had a drink. Remember how you were when you were 12? You went to a party and acted yourself. That may have been crazy, it may have been quiet, but it was you being you, without the need for assistance. And that’s what happened to me. I’m just as boisterous as anyone else who goes out, but I’m more in control. I don’t wake up having forgotten what I did the night before..." He continues to amaze me Thanks for posting...we've got SO MUCH GERRY this morning...I love it!!

MerlinMEH
Now that is a good read. I truely enjoyed it. Great way to start the day. Gerry has such a way of showing who he is in his interviews. And he never seems to be concerned with that exposure. Merlin

laxmom
That was another great interview! Donuts will never be looked on in the same way! He is very much like my boys in his humor. Men never outgrow jokes. Scottish or not, that is what men think is funny! Living with three sons, I find myself laughing right along with them! phoenixgirl
I heard they were Krispy Kremes so my question is ... did you walk around the rest of the day with kreme between your cheeks? The visions I have of this prank sends me into giggle fits. Gerry, don't ever change! Lisa
GBPhanatic
Well you know that's probably a pretty apropriate place to put them since that's where you'd expect them to end up eventually, on the butt! However, Gerry seems to like to take things one step further! "OK, why do these donuts smell funny? Where's Butler!" D
mommaduck
I love this interview--it is so "Gerry." Crazy prank, but I know they had a lot of fun doing it!! shirsan
Who do you know but a Scorpion man would think of such a thing to do. Intelligence gone wild. Wildcat indeed. If he is like the Scorpion men I know he will never change and he will always be a riot to be around. It's not just Scottish. It's purely Scorpion. They are all brilliant and it goes all ways, especially into their pranks and jokes. They dream this stuff I think. Thanks for this wonderful interview, and all the other things you come up with too. Love him absolutely, Sandy

Love him absolutely, Sandy Sandy you are so right Scorpions are so intense all my good, best friends, lovers,my ex husband they are the without a doubt some of the most intensely funny, intensely passionate, intensely outrageous people I know I love them to pieces and have always been drawn to them. One of the first questions I usually ask folks is were they born in November. If affirmative then its on.This is one of his best interviews in my opinion and not the same questions for the most part.I just might have a donut tomorrow instead of a bagel with my coffee...I hope I can work without laughing though!!! AbandonThought
But there’s this moment, at the end, when I knock this guy over with my shield – he’s coming at me with some momentum but this just sends him flying. Then there’s this slow motion moment as I walk up to him. Then, it speeds up as I [butler stands again and holds an imaginary sword] boom! Force it right down into his stomach. There’s not many moments in film that I congratulate myself but when I watched that I thought ‘yeah you bastard, that’s awesome!’ This is my favorite part of 300 also (it's not at the end though... more of in the middle... Silly Gerry)! Actually, I would include the 20 seconds leading up to it too, when the Spartans first break formation and Leonidas deftly kills a handful of Persians. I'm fascinated by the stunt fighting in that scene (I think it's so impressive that Gerry did his own), and love going through it in slow motion. I've even more or less learned the movements so that I can mimic it as it comes on. I know, I know... I have issues. Stephanie

lavender1960
Great interview. So true about people who cannot have any fun without alcohol. I went a bit wild in university but got a hold of myself/grew up by the time I got to law school - practicing moderation, I didn't have time for hangovers and such. Yes I went to law school and qualified, ha, but I understand part of what Gerry was talking about, I always felt like like an alien in that world and no longer practice. I remember some friends and I going dead sober to a law faculty pub We were just not in the mood, we were in the mood to dance and for whatever reason we brought bubble wands and soap along with us. Everyone was quite drunk by the time we arrived and everyone thought we were hammered, was it our dancing or the bubbles - not as impressive as the donuts in the arse trick I will admit. Everyone else was drunk but we were still having the most fun. And it was surreal being the only sober people in the place. PS Shortlist is a very interesting men's magazine - a woman could read it and enjoy even without GB on the cover, bwah but the photo in the blue suit poof and thud Edited October 1, 2009 by lavender1960
lavender1960
I take it this is a British magazine - I don't know why but I have found British interviewers to be more original in their line of questioning of celebrities, perhaps not all but overall. I particularly like the interviews where the interviewer and interviewee go out and do something, whether TV or print, they are not just sitting there having a Q & A session, because the situations themselves tend to bring out a different side of the person being interviewed. I remember another UK writer going out and playing pool/billiards with a UK actor, meeting up with the actor's friends at a pub, like the writer was just another mate tagging along, and that interview was so much more revealing. If I were an interviewer I'd be too embarrassed to ask the same questions everyone else asks - do your homework, people, bwah.
