phoenixgirl
Interesting, and he's nuts. UGH I hope his Scottish cast-iron stomach held up for him up there. Seriously, I hope he had a blast. Van Nuys airport is in the San Fernando Valley area of Los Angeles, not far from where I grew up. Hopefully it was a beautiful clear day down there and he had the time of his life. I wonder if this was just for the hell of it or for role research? Either way, he looks great. Thanks for this! framolamdu
I am extremely surprised no one has posted this pic yet http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p236/sh...26/VanNuys2.jpg They are from a private account and we are trying to get permission to post. The person who retweeted i believe but dont quote me on it was the brunette in the pic and the blond was possibly the person who tweeted via her private account which only those who follow her can see. If a person retweets and their account is not private then the message will also be seen. While her tweets do not appear on the public timeline they can be found via search which defeats the purpose of being private in the first place I think. Nobody knows whether she is happy it is now publicly out there but that is the danger when you post anything online. Moira
Songbird
You know Gerry has mentioned before that he'd like to learn to fly a plane. This is rather on a larger skill scale, but I hope he had a blast! As for the girls, maybe they want him to join the Mile High club! JUST KIDDING...no disrespect there Gerr..just tongue in cheek. With that thought in mind, I'll just slink my way back
phoenixgirl
This is my own personal opinion so please don't bash me ... I really hate those little planes that people learn to fly in. In this pic it looks like Gerry is taking a backseat ride with a military pilot, and I have complete confidence in the pilot's skills. Even I would trust a military pilot, but not just some dude wanting to fly a friggin' plane! But for Gerry to learn to fly scares the living SHITE out of me. He's a big boy and will do what he wants, but it makes me nervous to think he would be that adventurous. Oh well, I think everyone has their thing they want to experience. Mine is going down into a shark cage to see Great Whites. Doesn't mean we don't worry about those we love. Just blabbering ...

dairyqueen
Those little planes scare me!!! I don't want to think about it too much.I just pray for his well being and safety, for all of us..I would like to see him do a Top Gun sort of movie that would be a good look,he's done just about everything else. Lady Ski Bum
So it isn't a F-14 Tomcat or F-15 Eagle, F-16 trainers might have 2 seats and some F/A-18 Hornets have 2 seats...anyone have a clue as to what type of plane it is? Without seeing the front or the tail and wings it is difficult to decide. And it sure ain't the F-117. Looks newer than an F-4. If they are flying out of Van Nuys I am sure they don't start putting the aircraft through it's paces until they are out over Edwards AFB. Just curious. Gerry looks .... Have Mercy
Did anyone see Craig Ferguson around there? Gerry said he's go flying with him when he was on Craig's show....LOL!!! Alliask
sgeir
I wouldn't worry too much if Gerry is learning to fly or just trying it out. He has a greater risk of getting seriously injured or killed every time he drives a car or morotcycle. My dad, my brothers, my aunt and uncle were all pilots. (My dad taught my aunt and uncle to fly. She went on to became the first female Northeast region crash site investigator for the FAA and my uncle flew privately for an aircraft engine design company. My brother started working for middle-of-nowhere business called Midwest Air Freight right after he learned and stuck with it. Now he's pretty high up in the same company in Wilmington, Ohio, that had eventually changed it's name to Airborne Express.) If it was his first time up like that, it's a wonder he's legs weren't pure jello and his face wasn't more of an unnatural color Maybe, the pilot went easy on him. I have heard some hilarious stories and the times I went up for a few 'stunts' - well - they were humbling, religious moments until I got used to it. He'll love it. If he is planning on learning to fly, I did notice my aunt found that most accidents were pilot error or poor aircraft maintenance. Every now and then it was due to illegally salvaged parts or manufacturers error that the pilots didn't know about. Today, the skies are a bit more congested, so extra safety precautions should be placed there, too. (It will be a bit liberating for Gerry now that he is getting more attention. One time my uncle called and asked to speak with my Dad. Dad then told my Mom, doing a mountain of laundry at the time for 6 kids, that Bud was stopping by and he was going to bum a ride to get her some laundry soap since she was almost out. Mom thought, 'Okay, store is just around the corner. Why not?' Why not? Because my Dad and uncle were like boys horsing around when they got together. It was a vortex, I tell you! Long story short (too late), hours later, dad walks in with a grin that went wall to wall. Knowing Mom had every right to kill him, he handed her a box of Tide as a peace offering that he and Bud had used as an excuse to fly to Cincinnati to buy. He said he only wanted her to have the freshest of fresh from the Procter & Gamble company there. In time, see decided to let him live.) Dragon Slayer
I don't care what anyone says...it scares the heck out of me. There's one thing to learn how to fly and then there's dog fights which to me is really scary! Only a VERY experienced pilot could participate I imagine. I hope Gerry was able to keep down his lunch...

Skatingfan03
The idea of Gerard learning to fly really scares me, as I have gotten the impression that he is a highly untechnical person. At least in this dogfighting there is supposedly an experienced pilot? Did anyone see Craig Ferguson around there? Gerry said he's go flying with him when he was on Craig's show....LOL!!! Alliask OMG, something like that is very riskable unless of course if one is tired of one´s life, in my opinion Edited September 13, 2009 by Skatingfan03
