I see you beat me to it phoenixgirl and that woman seems to work in the entertainment business so presumably she knows her actors.

Aspen for Xmas so very Hollywood ain't it. Saw photos of Goldie Hawn, Kate Hudson and kids are there, they usually do go every year. Wonder if Kurt is there, he's another manly man actor.

Well we know the skiing would be great since Colorado got hit with a mass of snow just before Xmas. I can hear the shush shush of the skis on the crisp white powder.

This is odd

I have just d Gerard Butler\'s Mummy as she would like me to send her a couple of her sons\'s calendars! Made my day! Woo hoo! Xx !brocyqeo Dec 26 2009 21:05 EST

Person appears to be from Arizona.

Didn't mean to usurp your Twittering report. I was just happy that Gerry was doing something fun and NEW.

That is an odd Tweet. First, what does it mean that this person just "d" his Mum? And why would Margaret want "a couple" of Gerry's calendars? Very strange, indeed.

No worries, phoenixgirl, happy to see anyone post anything they think is interesting on twitter. :)

Yes that last twitter is odd. One could surmise a few different things from it and I will refrain from surmising beyond guessing that this twitterer, a female, might have been too excited to type correctly - I am lousy at texting myself since I don't have one of those new phones with a QWERTY keyboard. Give me a QWERTY and I'm good to go.

I do but I don't use it often. I have to slide it out and it's just easier to use the T9 function. The only time I use my QWERTY keyboard is when I'm typing mostly names or something I know the phone doesn't know how to spell.

Just saw on TV that the People's Choice Awards are on Jan. 9th. I wonder if Gerry will be there since he's nominated. :) Whether he's there or not, I just hope he wins. :)

Lisa

You scare me the lengths you have gone to find out where Gerry is :rotflmao:

You say you dont care about twitter yet you've propbably stalked it 24/7 for any clues :lmao:

You never fail me :rotflmao:

:hugs:

Moira

Um, no actually I don't. Someone else told me. I'm glad I amuse you.

I guess not having a Twitter account doesn't keep Gerry from being discussed in a very public way. Frankly, I think all this is TMI. I'm happy when Gerry is out of the limelight and enjoying some private time. The speculation about where he is is just that...speculation.

Yep I was amused on this occasion. And if someone else told you they scare me even more considering the name was spelled wrong :lmao:

:hugs:

Well if you ever heard of Tweet Deck you don't have to be on twitter 24-7, just takes 5 minutes a day tops. Great way to monitor your own twitter, other twitter accounts of friends and the like and your frequent search topics quickly. Highly recommend it.

And to posters in general, far be it for me to take the role of a mod but I believe the debate about twitter was already allowed ad nausuem and considered off topic and closed by the mods. I think the mods indicated if you don't like this thread, avoid it.

Gerry is known to text message friends, if you can text you can tweet if you choose to. Anyone who uses a Blackberry can Tweet. Twitter is an extension of personal text messages. I don’t think it has anything to do with him not sitting still long enough ether, or understanding the technology. It’s just not something he wants to do or maybe he is but anonymously under another user name. I didn’t want to at first and now I kind of like it, particularly when I found I could follow a lot of non Gerry stuff I’m interested in too. A lot of stuff on Twitter is informative rather then personal.

I AM dumb when it comes to this stuff so are you carrying on a conversation when you are texting or is that tweeting?

Hmm, Gerry in Aspen! My fam is skiing in Breckenridge, without me this year. Wonder, if it's true, he's ever been in Aspen before and if so I wonder how he liked landing at Sardi Field. That's an experience in itself! :rotflmao:

I still see no harm in knowing this. There are no pics; there's no one showing up bothering him. No paparazzi; no fans. He is still out of the limelight, and I AM glad. I don't know why I can't get it across that just because we know where he is doesn't mean he's not having his private time?

And honestly, Marg, this IS a public board and we discuss him publicly every single day. I didn't re-Tweet it, as many people have done in the past. I brought the info to our fan board - A GERARD BUTLER FAN BOARD. I brought a Tweet over (Lav would have if I didn't) about a probable sighting ...

I think it's funny how people will come into a thread where you know we discuss Tweets about him and then criticize for us having the Tweets.

You know I love you, lady. :) Like I said yesterday, everyone has their own way of being a fan, showing their love, and no one is better than another. Just different.

I do have tweetdeck thanks very much and i know how to use it. I just stopped going on it as much as i just felt peoples privacy were being invaded too much.

BTW maybe its the transatlantic divide but can people not take some gentle ribbing these days. Seriously where did people's sense of humour go :lmao:

Just dropping in to let you know

it's appreciated by the Admins and Mod Squad

if you'll please keep this thread 'on topic'

-you may post Tweets regarding Gerry-

but keep it simple -

and adhere to the general guidelines for posting,

including not introducing to the board controversy from other sources and being respectful of each other.

I like the tweets as long as they're just informational and not intrusive or derogatory. I, too, like having a general idea of where he is or what he's doing in a public kind of way but I don't lose sleep when I don't know. I'd rather have a fact than the endless speculation that can get going. Knowing he's here or in Scotland or in Timbuktu is sufficient. I don't need a play-by-play on what he's doing every minute.

Tweets seem less intrusive simply because they are short and tend to just be "I saw so-and-so" without much detail. Pap photos, on the other hand, seem to follow him for extended periods and hover. If they'd just take ONE pic and move on but they stand and watch. That's creepy.

Thanks, Lavender1960. I hope the Twitter universe remains friendly.

Thank you for saying it much better than I could. :) And it is nice that the Tweets have been just a one sentence sighting. That's all we need.

Gerry is clearly having a pleasant time in Aspen, making nice to all and sundry, keeping a low profile and not attracting any attention and only being noticed for being the nice guy that he is. Almost everyone with a TV and an internet connection knows about another celebrity in Aspen embroiled in a domestic dispute. And that notoriety didn’t come from Twitter! If the only attention Gerry is getting on his holiday is a couple of tweets I’d say his downtime is a success and his privacy remains intact.

That's what I love about this man! He's talking to the common folk and these little harmless sightings are fun. I wonder if he knows he's being "tweeted" sometimes. There are so many celebrities in Aspen, I'm sure most of the locals are used to it so I'm kinda surprised that we are getting tweets about Gerry being there. I'm happy he's in Aspen skiing or whatever he's doing. The night life is pretty great too. I'd love to see that boy shoosing down the slopes in his rooster cap!

I've been to Aspen several times and it's a warm and very friendly place to both celebs and regular folk. Wish I was there now! I love that he's getting to experience the beautiful Colorado Rocky Mountains and soak in their ambiance and that mountain air! On another note, I'm kinda happy I didn't get to go skiing this year with the rest of the fam. Having known I was that close to Gerry would have driven me crazy! :cunning:

Love you, Gerry, and have fun!

While Twitter can be a great source of very instant info do we really need to know everything about what a person is doing or where they are??. Sometimes it is no better than being like a peeping tom into someone's life :tantrum: .

Gerry and his fandom have brought alot of good things into my life and he is one of the most fan friendly celebs out there that is very open and honest with his fans. I think there comes a time when no matter how much you want to know everything about him we have to realize if he wanted us to know what he was up to 24/7; like other celebs; then he'd have his own twitter account. The guy deserves a private life away from prying eyes beit fans or papz.

I know I have been guilty of feeling I have to know everything about him and its just not healthy. We are his fans we are not his personal friends and i've come to realize what he does not reveal himself do I really have a right to know about??? :humph:

Moira

Well said Moira. I think some celebs live for and crave this type of attention. Why do some complain about having paps around, when coming out of Mr. Chow's? They KNOW the paps and fans will be hanging out there. I believe a lot of what celebs claim is invasion of privacy IS planned. I don't believe this is the case for Gerard though. Enough is enough. I don't need, nor do I want to know what Gerard or anyone else is doing 24/7. Last time I checked, I did have a life of my own. Edited by Jennifer10

Amusing, this guy is from Northern Ireland, going to school in the US, enjoying his Xmas at Aspen

I met and spoke to GERARD BUTLER today. He asked me where the restrooms were! I could not help him.

SpongyPMC Dec. 27/09 19:44 EST

:lmao: Can you imagine? Being in a hotel or restaurant or someplace and Gerry walking up and asking where the restrooms are and NOT KNOW? OMG that's so funny.

I wonder if he still plans to head home for the New Year like he said in that interview. If he is like most families you can only take so much of each other for so long hence why he maybe never came home for both :lmao:. Apart from just before the premiere I am not too sure how long he actually spent in Scotland on that trip as most of it seemed to be in London.

You know, that brings up a good point! I haven't checked lately, so maybe I've got a life here somewhere and I just didn't know it! But I thought I was multitasking quite nicely. But as far as Gerard is concerned, I don't need to know where he is or what he's doing 24/7......just 23/6 :embarassed: He's my everything! Don't you people understand anything? :rotflmao:
