Stef with an F
http://www.empireonline.com/100sexiest2009...ult.asp?star=10 #10: Gerard Butler The man who inspired a million workouts, Gerard Butler's turn in 300 not only catapulted him up the Hollywood ranks but caused half the known world to develop a slight fascination with him. As if the Scottish brogue, broad shoulders and fondness for dirty jokes weren't enough, we now know that he has abs like a cliff face. Most alluring as... Either Leonidas in 300, in the days before clothes were discovered, or in a more thoughtful but still manly turn in Dear Frankie. Interests include... Looking after his pet pug, Lolita, playing football, horseback riding, skiing and water-skiing.
Paisleyscot
#1 in my book!! The top ten is good though Thanks Stef! Cheryl Edited October 16, 2009 by Paisleyscot
AbandonThought
Number 10, pretty impressive! Of course, I voted that Gerry should be ranked higher. And just to drive the point home, I voted that everyone above him should be ranked lower. It was tough when some of those faces popped up... James McAvoy? Hugh Jackman? I hated clicking "lower" for them. Then there was George Clooney, who I've never liked and gladly cast my vote to demote. And... ALAN RICKMAN? IN THE TOP TEN? They did say "sexiest," right? ladyfran
Okay so I'm a dummy....I thought should his number be like 1 or 2 or 3 instead of a 10 so I voted the wrong way I guess! I don't know why I can't think straight anymore...ya think maybe too much distraction?? Frannie

I don't know why I can't think straight anymore...ya think maybe too much distraction?? Frannie Now that you mention it that is a little ambiguous... higher could mean higher on the list, as in closer to number one, or it could mean higher literally as in higher numerically... I blame Empire, not you Frannie! Steph
ladyfran
Yeah I guess you could take it either way! *phew* I don't feel quite so dorkish now! Thanks Steph! Frannie
ReggieNY11
I took it to mean if you vote "higher" he should be bumped up a notch (from 10 to 9), and if you clicked "lower" he would go down a notch, not down to a lower number.
Sasharose
Of course I voted to move him up the list. IMO, he's #1. But I'm glad he's ahead of a lot of the ususal suspects! However, there were some guys on this list I never heard of or don't think are sexy at all. Anyway, it killed some time while I'm waiting for Jimmy Kimmel to come on. Vicki
I took it to mean if you vote "higher" he should be bumped up a notch (from 10 to 9), and if you clicked "lower" he would go down a notch, not down to a lower number. That's what I thought they meant, too. So Johnny Depp was the highest on the list at #1. Perhaps they should have been clearer with that - maybe given an example. Cheers, Vicki
Sasharose
Oooops. I said the wrong Jimmy. G's on Jimmy Fallon tonight not Kimmel! At least that's what I wrote down.

framolamdu
While I'd have liked him higher than 10 it is great he is actually making these lists and higher than the usual suspects. What I like is apart from Robert Pattinson it is all MEN near the top and not some tweenie. Moira
mrs presley
No 1 in my book, of course I am bias, but fair enough in top 10 Brad Pitt, Johnny Depp, James Macavoy, Hugh Jackman BUT George Clooney? Alan Rickman and sorry the guy at no 2?? come on..........who did the voting? Gerry beats them ALL hands down!
guselsie
Gerry is always number one (#1) in my book as he has more than looks. He is Mr. Personality Plus, he is down to earth, which means more than any other attribute and we all know I could go on and on regarding the subject known as Mr. Butler. There now I have given my 2 cents and I feel better. Barbara
AbandonThought
I generally thought the top 10 was well chosen. But, Rob Pattinson was NOT among those well chosen. He seemed like a throw-in because that series is so popular right now. But yeah, I agree that for the most part it was MEN that was chosen. And, although Gerry will always be number one in our book, it's pretty great that the rest of the world is starting to recognize him enough to put him in the top 10. lavender1960
Alan Rickman is one of my favourite actors but ranking ahead of GerButs, not this year, much as I love you Alan. Another tall actor though. I agree about Pattison - unless you are an adolescent female he reminds me of Brad Pitt when he was on Dallas and I still don't think Brad is all that and a bag of chips- Angelina can have him. Steph It was a difficult choice but..Steph, who the heck voted Alan Rickman??? He's in 8th place!!! As for the first time, I never thought J. Depp was sexy, good-looking yes but not sexy... Can we put Gerard directly number one???? Second place, R. Downey jr. for me or hugh Jackman..
AbandonThought
Yes, I was also happy to see Robert Downey Jr. in there... I had a little fascination with him a few years ago where he pervaded my thoughts for a few months, and then Ironman? Woah, yeah... that did it for me. Looking forward to the next one. But, none of them can hold a candle to our GB. Steph
Bette Noire
It was interestingly international - at least 3 Scots, and a sprinkling of Brits and Aussies, etc. But on the other hand, one of the whitest lists I´ve seen. And Alan Rickman can read me a bedtime story anytime!
Janita
He's always number 1 - for me!! Here in South Africa you can now vote in the Heat top 100 competition. I just read that he loves cupcakes, well, so do I. I think from now I'll be his favourite cupcake!! Janita

GBPhanatic
Of course for me, Gerry would be number one. I have to say, however, I was happy to see Alan Rickman there although I don't think he ranks higher than Gerry. I always thought he was sexy, especially in Sense and Sensibility. I didn't look at the entire listing. My computer started acting up. AR has a sexy voice, like Gerry, but he's cast as a villian a lot rather than a romantic character. I also like Gary Oldman. I also like Matthew MacFadyen from Pride and Pred. I've always been attracted to brooding men, silent water runs deep and all that, however that doesn't explain my attraction to Gerry because he's nothing like that! Go figure! Maybe I'm still clinging to the brooding figure of the Phantom. Sexy doesn't mean chisiled features and flat abs. Sexuality is something a person has and exudes. It comes from within rather than superficially in my opinion. Delene
DNice09
Everytime I hear about Gerry and cupcakes it makes me think of a song. It's a little kid that sings it, and it's called 'Cuppycake'...it's the cutest thing ever. I'm going to find it and post it on here. It makes me laugh, and I think you guys would get a big kick out of it. Alan Rickman will always be Hans Gruber to me, LOL! Best bad guy ever! He did a pretty dead on American accent in Die Hard (the first one)! I thought he was sexy as hell then, but I"m not so sure about now. Is Jonathan Rhys-Meyers on that list? Those eyes and that accent does it for me...seriously..... D Edited October 17, 2009 by DNice09
lavender1960
One of my favourite Alan Rickman movies is Truly, Madly, Deeply - it makes me bawl yet it also many very funny moments - similar to PS I Love You - a woman's husband [Alan Rickman] dies, her true soul mate, she is devastated and his ghost comes back to help to cope. He's had some good non villain roles, I have tried to watch most of his filmography, still have a way to go. Awfully Big Adventure is a great movie, Hugh Grant plays the bad guy for a change. Very surprise sad ending. Given his age, Alan still has it IMO but not over GerButs bwah. I have a friend who is a friend of his and he is a lovely man as well if not the typically neurotic actor but they are all neurotic, that is why they are drawn to acting. Jonathan Rhys-Meyers better be on the list. How wonderful to see him on the telly every week on The Tudors, that and I am fan of that era. Henry the VIII still continues to fascinate. I am a long time fan of Gary Oldman. His career and life has taken some interesting twists and turns. I can't believe he is on wife No. 4. I like the new one so far. I knew No. 3 was a mistake. Long story. Too bad he blew it with Isabella Rosselini whom he had been engaged to. I think Wife. #3 is still making his life hell because he has custody of their sons. But I digress. Alan Rickman and Gary Oldman are friends, even before Harry Potter. Alan is especially good friends with Gary's first wife Lesley Manville, a wonderful underrated actress in her own right IMO. That is why Gerry is smart not to get married at this point. Gary has a somewhat similar background to GB -- his father abandoned their family when he was 7 and he never really saw his father again until he just before he died of alcoholism related illness. And when Gary did his first movie as a producer and director, Nil By Mouth which again I think is a very underrated movie, I love it, very dark, very stark, gritty, somewhat autobiographical, and he went into major debt and had to take the big commerical roles like Harry Potter and Batman to try and pay that off. But he was determined to do his first movie his way. Ray Winstone was brilliant in it. Now Guy Ritchie are you listening - how about this - a movie with Gerard Butler, lead of course, Alan Rickman, Gary Oldman, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Ray Winstone and Jason Statham. Could be biblical. Certainly would be interesting. Oh throw in Clive Owen, Hugh Grant, Tim Roth and Hugh Jackman. Well Hugh might be the odd man out. Might have to substitute Daniel Craig. Throw in a cameo by Malcolm McDowell. In fact one two hour movie wouldn't do, make it a trilogy or something. Like Ocean's 11, 12 & 13.
