phoenixgirl
Back on topic though, I don't see Gerry letting himself get pushed into a movie-pairing by the numbers, unless he really really loved the project, and even then I can see him turning it down if he doesn't think he'd have any chemistry with the flash-in-the-pan that they cast as the female lead. I mean, so far he hasn't done any movies with any of the "it" girls, just really talented actresses! Steph Spot on, Steph.

GBPhanatic
What disappoints me about some of these polls is that the voting is sometimes skewed by other factors then talent. Megan Foxx? Not in Gerry's league. Delene
lavender1960
Well she certainly hasn't paid her dues in the same way as GB has and no doubt most of the other nominees for the female award. This is the downside of online voting which can also be very easily manipulated by overzealous fan groups. I will admit that I've help cheat on an online poll myself - but only because the fan group for the nearest rival started it first, we were doing it the legit way first. In fact they posted about it openly on their blogs so we all downloaded the program they were using, they posted the link - the program posts a vote like once very few seconds. The final vote tallies was in the tens of millions over one weekend. We still lost. By a million votes. HazelEyes
Since Gerry is still in NYC I would guess he would show for this. Seems to be a semi-big deal (just by looking at the fact that Clint Eastwood and Angelina Jolie showed up last year). Hey Lis-How do ya know he's still in NYC? Just curious. But yeah, if they did it first... sometimes you've got to step in and fight fire with fire. I was quite disappointed with the choice of Megan Fox as female star of the year. I kept voting for Hillary Swank. I think she's extremely talented. There were a lot of really great actresses on that list, and to see them get beaten by Megan Fox? Well, it kinda speaks to everything I don't like about popular culture. At least the male category got it right. Steph
lavender1960
I have to say I don't know why PS I Love You gets panned all the time and the casting of Hillary. First of all and I say this not just because Gerry is in it, because I had seen it before and hadn't comprehended who this charming sexy actor was, for rom com fare it was superior rom com fare and people said Hillary was too boyish blah blah blah, they should have hired a prettier actress well hello people look around you, real young wives do not ALL look like Megan Fox, I liked the fact they didn't cast someone predictable, she was also perfect at playing the uptight one IMO. I have committed that evil act of power voting online only once, the beauty of the program was you set it up once and you could just leave it on your computer, all night long, all weekend long and it would keep voting, once and while it would boot out so you had to reset. This is the kicker - the rival artist was a Christian music band, the Dave Crowder band? never heard of them until this poll, so we could not believe the fans of a Christian music band were openly encouraging cheating. Okay I voted in American Idol once when I am not an American citizen. So shoot me. Edited October 25, 2009 by lavender1960

Okay I voted in American Idol once when I am not an American citizen. So shoot me. I agree with you completely on the PSILY stuff. I thought Hillary Swank was a great choice for that role, because she is very down to earth. I mean, she is otherwordly skinny, but other than that, she's a lot like an everyday gal. Plus, she's extremely talented, and was able to combine both the tragedy and humor in the situations brilliantly. And I like that she's not as feminine and girlish as many of the "it" girls. Plus, like Gerry, she's not afraid to step out and do some very different roles. Steph p.s.- here we go... getting off topic again. Yay Gerry; way to win Hollywood male star of the year! I don't know if I'll ever see it, and I think I knew that in my subconscious anyway... I particularly enjoyed Million Dollar Baby since I'm a kickboxer. ladyfran
To continue the off topic....I love Hillary Swank and I am that MF won...but I can assure you it had to do with a whooooole lot of male voters! I have a feeling she'll (Hillary) be getting another Oscar too after seeing the clips from Amelia! That's my kind of movie and I also like Richard Gere...good match-up as well as it was with Gerry! Now for the subject at hand..... THIS IS FREAKEN AWESOME! ...I'm with you guys...glad we could help! Sasharose
The past award ceremonies that I can find have all been at the Beverly Hilton which I figure is in LA. Wonder if he'll make yet another plane trip to be there? Or, maybe he'll record some kind of acceptance speech? Anyway, I can't figure why they let the voting go on after Oct. 18 if that was the cut off. I was voting right up until they announced the winners. I'm with everybody. I loved Hillary Swank in PSILY. I can't imagine anyone else in the role now. She played the character as written. I think some of the dislike may be with the character's perceived self-centeredness. I didn't read the book, but I think that was a complaint there as well.
