GBPhanatic
Can I just ask something here from the ladies who have been fans for a long time? What is the best way to deal with photos of Gerry's dates? I mean, from a rational point of view, this is bound to happen and we want him to be happy and have fun and he is human and he will do what all of us humans do. But there is this initial knot in the stomach when photos like that surface, isn't there? How does one deal with it? I really don't want to be a fan that is bothered by such issues, I want to focus on his work and success and personal happiness so some advice from the "veterans" might help. Thanks, Theresa As you have heard Gerry say many times. He is photographed with many women and then linked romantically with them and barely knows them. Then you've heard him say that he can be in a serious relationship with someone and you never know about it. Gerry is very private. Trust me. You'd never know about it. I could be wrong, but I don't think Gerry is the marrying type. It's too permanent... like death. You've all all seen the pics - here is Nick "Fry Guy" Boyle with Gerry after the dentist appointment - that we all saw the video of: http://www.gbgalsgallery.com/v/partiesetc/BevHill032108/ I don't know thing more than anyone else, ladies. I just remember things more than I should. I like going to Wendy's after the dentist! Unfortunately (?) this theory does not work for me. I have been in the same and even worse state since March. I think that I'm pretty realistic about my limitations, but still. Don't laugh at me, but I really "suffer" from this obsession. For me it's an obsession that I cannot control. I often say that Gerry will cause my complete mental death. Just being honest.. Right now, I am exactly where you are and my mental health is in great danger. I am just hoping for the future... :-) Theresa Love shouldn't make you sad and so cynical....love should make you happy and set your heart free! If you truly love someone, you want them to be happy. I'm not saying it doesn't sting like the dickens but if Gerry ever does fall in love and decide to tie the knot, she better be good to him or she'll have a whole lotta gals out there to answer to! I think the young lady in the orange dress - beautiful dress by the way - is a girlfriend. One photo as they are walking they aren't holding hands but their arms are touching shoulder to fingers... You know, that is like telling a group of kids there's no Santa Claus just to get a reaction! Besides, you should know our Gerry better than that! He's not going to take a "date" to a place like this? It's a virtual smorgasboard of eligible females! Has Gerrydom not taught you anything? Gerry has done very well to keep his private life just that and if he does get serious about anyone as long as he gently introduces her into public life so we get used to it rather than wake up to find he got married and nobody knew he was dating - that would maybe be too much for some fans to handle . "Hint, hint?" Break it to us softly, Gerry! There are too many hearts to be broken! I'm sure Gerry is mixing a little pleasure with some work here. I just don't know how he finds the stamina? Stamina is a good thing though, right? He'll be working his way home soon and maybe get to crawl in to his own little bed at Mum's and hide out. I would hate going to these things, invitation or no. Hob knobbing with the rich and famous doesn't float my boat. So many are superficial and shallow. I suspect he gets tired of everyone wanting a photograph with him, of course except his fans. He always looks happy when he's with his fans. Not so much with some of the elite. But we know where his heart is. Hope he has a, what did he call it, fandabbydoosy, good time and enjoys his last days in his thirties! I think we have already learned that she was one of the hostesses, not a date.
HazelEyes
I think the young lady in the orange dress - beautiful dress by the way - is a girlfriend. One photo as they are walking they aren't holding hands but their arms are touching shoulder to fingers... So --- if their shoulders are touching in a photo, that means it is his girlfriend? How can you possibly make that assessment? How do we know it's a date, a friend, an assistant, a long-lost sister, a hotel hostess - just from a snapshot of 1/2 a second of that whole day?? How?? Some photos have captions, so we know for sure - but looking at how close someone's shoulder is next to another's or the degree to which they are smiling or not smiling tells us nothing about what what is going on in their lives or relationships. If the woman who brushed his shoulder is his girlfriend, then what about the women who are hugging him? Are they more than girlfriends? I'm sorry - I am usually pretty quiet on the board and just swoon over photos - but I - let's says strongly dislike reading into ever millimeter of a photo. I just don't understand it. Understand that I hope he did have a beautiful date for this event - I'm not in denial about the women in his life - but it is literally, actually impossible for us to make any sort of prediction on who someone new is in a photo. Unless we have inside info or a source. Otherwise it's complete speculation right?? Don't mean to offend anyone - just frustrated. HazelEyes
Never assume anything when viewing a photo... :claphands:I suppose I could have put it more succinctly like Lilyrose - but had to express myself in my previous post.
Lady Ski Bum
Sorry to have offended with my speculation 'IF' and 'Best Wishes if it is true". How could that be offensive? Don't we all wish that for the g-man? Home, Hearth, Happiness and lots of g-babies running around? Edited November 1, 2009 by Lady Ski Bum
lavender1960
I think Gerry has to go to Germany and Oslo first before heading home. Xmas can't come soon enough for him I'll bet.
HazelEyes
Sorry to have offended with my speculation 'IF' and 'Best Wishes if it is true". How could that be offensive? Don't we all wish that for the g-man? Home, Hearth, Happiness and lots of g-babies running around? I wasn't offended one bit. Not at all. Just confused and puzzled. I wish him nothing but happiness - but that wasn't my point - it was purely asking how we know the degree of their relationship by how close their shoulders are in a snapshot. Okay, I'm back to swooning. . .
GBPhanatic
Sorry to have offended with my speculation 'IF' and 'Best Wishes if it is true". How could that be offensive? Don't we all wish that for the g-man? Home, Hearth, Happiness and lots of g-babies running around? Your presumption, as I said before, was more meant to instill a riot then anything else! Not to mention you are speculating about a romantic pairing on the internet that can be picked up from other not so friendly eyes, like tabloid gossip sites and suggesting that you think it's his girlfriend or whatever sets Gerry up for the rumor mill which is the last thing he'd want. As his fans, we shouldn't pair him with anyone! If you have no consideration for anyone else, at least have some for Gerry. Not everyone wishes for the same things! A little bit of "sensitivity" goes a long way sometimes. Besides, I thought speculation on Gerry's private life was a big no no? Let's not poke the bear, shall we? framolamdu
I guess his little lady must have had a sore head and missed the party If he's happy to get photographed walking down the red carpet heading into the resort with a girlfriend he'd be happy to be photographed with her at the party - me think that says it all no need for further speculation Moira
GBPhanatic
Well, I'll tell you, Gerry Butler or not, if I dressed up fit to kill like that and he showed up in his dungarees to walk along side of me, even carrying the infamous rooster hat in hand, not that he doesn't look HOT in whatever he wears, I'd be a bit put off as his date! That kinda says it all too! Delene
Lilyrose
Not sure why we need to "pair" people up?..and why we feel the need to see people "get married"..Like that is the end all be all...I had two aunts in Italy that never married but they lead perfectly happy lives.. Songbird
Since Gerry is featured with a lot of different people in these pics from Morocco, I would just like to post a friendly wee reminder about our site guidelines, in this case, specific to #2: 2. In addition, when we ask for respect, we ask for it in regards to everyone, not just members. Please refrain from disparaging comments regarding people and ladies Gerard is pictured with. Also, please refrain from nasty comments regarding other celebrities, and other internet sites and forums. This is NOT a site to bitch about anyone else, nor to post unkind or libelous remarks. Any posts that have objectionable contents be subject to immediate removal and the member will be notified. (Including posts with links to information about any of Gerry's friends or family.) NO speculating on Gerry's personal life, including rumors or 'reports' from other web-sites. Thank you! I posted the above way back on page 4 of this thread. NO SPECULATING ABOUT G'S PERSONAL LIFE OR WHO HE IS PICTURED WITH, PLEASE!!! Thanks to those who have complied which is most of you! And no responses of 'Are you referring to me?' are necessary. Thank you!

In Italy we don't get married because it's so frikking expensive... you have really to think about marriage before ruining yourself economically!!! Then, it's a country where nearly everybody is Catholic so divorcing is a mess too...... I never felt the need to get married, I'm really happy being single... BTW, even if I was in a relationship, I would think about it ten times...

Delene Well I would agree - now that would work in my hometown for a date, in fact, it's pretty standard issue, including the baseball cap, usually to hide receding hairlines and male pattern baldness, a man with a job is a catch around here. Let's just hope GQ Germany doesn't see those pictures, only the later photos in the blue suit. However I suspect what happened was GB was running late and the red carpet was already set up - they must not have had a separate entrance for late arriving guests not kitted out - perhaps an omission on the part of the event planner? It looked like there was also another party earlier from some of the photos I have seen because the guests at the evening party had clearly changed into new glamourous duds. I think some guests were just arriving and greeted with the red carpet treatment before they had a chance to "shower, shave and change" as it were. Can you imagine getting off of a long flight and being paraded down a red carpet like royalty before you can settle in? Poor Gerry! They could have at least given him some time to freshin' up before the cameras started snapping. Not that he doesn't look smashing as is!
