framolamdu
I videos this off BBC I Player a video of Gerry asking the British Public to donate to this very worthwhile cause. Last night the UK raised over 20 million. Moira

ladyfran
Thanks Moira....It's stuff like this that Gerry does that I wish more people could see and know that this is the kind of humanitarian that he really is... I also think when it comes to children and their needs whatever they may be he will always go the extra mile... You don't know how I wish that I could bid on the bear for both reasons....but believe it or not to help a child in need is at the top of the list! Songbird
I challenge everyone who posted in the "dangling plant/bear?" thread to post in THIS thread as well! Helping charities is pretty easy when you're a celebrity, and it can garner a LOT of funds for those in need. Way to go, Gerry!
Swansong
Gerry has referred to himself as a bad boy with a good heart. I wish the general public would hear more about this side of Gerry than all the gossip BS. I am sure he supports lots of charitable causes that we never hear about in the media, and he doesn't toot his own horn when he does. phoenixgirl
I posted that clip on my FB wall so hopefully those of my non-Gerry friends who might have read/heard about the crap from last week will see this.

Gerry's heart and work for charity was never doubted in any case and it's good to see that the UK media understand his appeal and use it for a good cause. Thank you Moira for the link. DNice09
Who ever doubted Gerry's good heart? I know I never did. It's nice to see him doing charity work. It's also nice to know that he doesn't toot his own horn! D
Songbird
My point was just that for whatever reasons, humanity tends to gravitate toward the negative instead of the positive. Life's too short for that.

Forbes girl
This is the Gerry I wish people would think of when he does silly things. He is 100% all heart. Which is why I will never criticize anything he does. He is a human being with wonderful qualities that need displaying once in a while to remind everyone that he is a good and special guy!! ~HUGS~ Kathy
JustCallMeTracy
You know my mother always said just because people say something doesn't mean it is true and my mother in law always said sweep around your own door step before you sweep around mine. So, I think people can piss and moan if they want to, but Gerry is like everyone merely human. None of us can be on 24/7 so no one should not expect it of Gerry. He is, but a mere mortal. As long as we recognize his charitable works if others don't that is their loss in my opinion. Love, Tracy

Life's too short for that. Well said, Katie! Life IS too short for that! oh my gosh...seriously ladies...concur! the raising up of that kind of money for englands disadvantaged children...OMG...my heart's breaking. i hope the funds go directly toward these organizations & agencies who truly are the hands & feet of loving outreach to these families and children in need of help. i have worked with disabled children (med. cap.) but...you can NEVER forget the family who care takes these children...community helping community. very nice. and, thank you gerry you have a wonderfully generous soul!
