Have to agree with the majority here ... Gerry isn't the type to have friends who would use him like that. Nor would he surround himself with people who don't respect him as a person first and foremost. :) I believe that Nick and Freddy are genuinely good guys.

I’m pretty sure GBPhanatic was joking and was not meaning to dis Gerry’s friends at all.

I’m sure they are all swell guys, friends that Gerry can count on and relax with. Back when I was on the “market” I would have been happy to hang out with and flirt with any of those guys. Someone like Gerry I would have shied away from, too hot, too sexy, too many girls flocking around trying to get a piece of him. Uh, no. Very, very difficult to get to know anyone under those circumstances. I always liked the guys I could relax with.

But for a rich fantasy flirtation, can’t beat Gerry! He’s the stuff “dreams are made of!”

 I'm sure you're right re: GBPhanatic. My point wasn't to scold her, but rather, I wanted to make sure that we articulated that these are some really good people.

I never said Gerry's friends "used" him! Why is this getting so blown out of proportion?

Geez, before anyone else jumps on the bandwagon here, and makes a bigger issue out of this then it deserves, I WAS KIDDING! You all talk about how Gerry can't kid around without being taken seriously and then the same thing happens here! Where's that sense of humor?

Now, I'm faced with four or five rather defensive posts about a, as Moira correctly said, "tongue and cheek" comment! I guess she's the only one who gets it. These responses actually took my harmless and joking comment, changed the meaning and twisted it around to something offensive and callous! I actually thought, in my stupidity, that putting the laughing icon was an indicator but I guess not. This is serious business! I'll bet that Gerry and all his friends are not so thin skinned that they wouldn't have thought it funny!

If my remark was so bad and offensive to anyone, especially Gerry and his friends, I apologize but I don't understand then why it didn't get set invisible instead and explain the reasons to me in a PM instead of making it a bigger production in full view on here thus making me look like some kind of bad guy! Why is that?

Sorry if I "offended" anyone.

Delene

And I never accused anyone of not being good people! I would have appreciated my post being set invisible then this. Scolding or not, I feel embarrassed and hurt that my meaning was so misconstrued. I would have understood better had I been "spanked' behind the scenes rather than this public flogging!

Now you're misunderstanding, Delene. The post didn't get cloaked because there was clearly "room for error" as you most assuredly have the "laughing icon" securely in place. Personally, I was not "scolding." Despite your tongue-in-cheek statement, it provoked thought. For me (not as a mod, necessarily), I "waxed philosophical" as I thought about the proposed scenario. As a result, I posted my thoughts. Had this truly been a "moderating issue," the protocol you indicated would have been followed.

I hereby publicly apologize for causing your "fun thought" to take a more serious tone. That was not the intent - just as you didn't intend for the line of thinking to take such a twist.

DITTO what Holly said!

I absolutely took your meaning as tongue-in-cheek, but having said that, when you know some of G's friends personally, joking or not, I thought how often they must get that very joke from people and I'll bet it gets very old - especially when it couldn't be further from the truth.

Sorry that you chose to be offended and that this discussion has ruined your good mood, but I just think your comment sparked some meaningful discussion, and I don't believe for a moment that any one was criticizing you personally. :kisswink: Oh, the beauty of the internet...

Sometimes the internet has definite shortcomings and this seems to be one of those times. I just took it as insights about the guys in question from those who had been lucky enough to meet one of them and found him to be quite the charmer in his own right. Just as I'm sure Delene's comment was intended to be lighthearted, I'm sure the following repsonses weren't intended to scold but just to enlighten a bit. But the written word can leave so very much to be desired, even when using emoticons - they are just little representations and can't convey true intentions.

I hope all hurt feelings and ruffled feathers are soon repaired.

Susan.. the voice of reason! :cunning: I know I don't have any business here for I am not one of the fortunate to have been in the presence of Gerry's friends let alone Gerry so since I know nothing about them I won't offer any comment towards them...I'll leave that to the Gals that KNOW them!

:2cents:

However I just want to say to D....I've read so many of your posts and ALWAYS get a giggle out of most of them...Most of us Gals know by now how to take each others posts ...at least this is how I feel..so Sweetie, do not feel bad because those of us that know you read your post just the way you meant it...Totally "Tongue in cheek" I also agree that sometimes PM's can save a lot of embarrassment! BTW...Freddy doesn't do it for me either!! :p

I thought you were being completely tongue and cheek. I quite often get people jumping on something that I say for whatever their personal reasons are. It is annoying, and I got what you meant from your original post.

If it's any conselation to you, I thought your original post was funny.
