If anyone fancies going there are still Bleacher Packages left for 2/3/6 row. Contact malou.paik@hilton.com or marie.del.rosario@hilton.com for details. Amazing weekend can't recommend it highly enough.

Oy, I wish! I gotta save my pennies for my trip for The Bounty Hunter premiere... :cunning: It'll be my first one!

It has been easy to see that Gerry is sick to death of being asked about JA...almost to the point that if I were JA my feelings would be a bit hurt by such fervent denials over and over and over. Yet they both obviously know that press appearances etc... for the upcoming movie are inevitable. I would rather not see them present together because of his frustration with all the JA questions. BUT...this could be the perfect opportunity, if well handled by his publicists, to quell that rumor and make it easier to move forward with marketing the movie.

Moira...you are so lucky to go! To see Scorsese (sp?) receive a lifetime achievement award would be a tremendous treat in itself...especially presented by those two, who happen to be true actors just like GJB. And think of all the other big names that might be there just because of that award! You are indeed a lucky lady!

So here's to a 2010 that sees Gerry begin to get the recognition he deserves. It seems being named so early as a presenter starts the year off on a very good note!

Hmm, I think Gerry's been so good about the way he denies the JA rumors. He always takes the time to say that she's an awesome girl, one of his favorite people in the world, but that no, they're not involved. And I can't imagine JA could have her feelings hurt by Gerry telling the truth? I suppose it would be another thing if they were actually dating and he refused to acknowledge it despite the persistent questions, but, as it is, can't see how she would be upset.

I definitely agree that the media should get off it already. Those of us who know Gerry heard and believed him the first time he said they weren't dating, so the repeated questioning is only for the casual fans/gossip seekers who really shouldn't give a crap in the first place. *Sigh*

But, I still think Gerry handles it famously.

Steph, I do agree that he handles it pretty well considering the situation. A couple of recent interviews he's done lately, though, have a sort of an edge to them that comes with repeating something over and over so much that it starts to sound pat and monotone. I don't blame him for this because he has to answer the questions the only way he can. I guess I feel sort of sorry for JA because the media continues to make her out to be a "lonely, sad" woman...which she surely is not.

It's just too bad that the press/media can't just let it go. I guess they just have a need to join the "poor, lonely beautiful people" together...ha!

At least "this, too, shall pass." Right?

Agreed, Leslie. I'm sure that it's hard to stay as upbeat and friendly with the answer when it's the 300th time you've been asked that day.

I too dislike the way JA is portrayed in the media, and this intense desire that the press has to pair Gerry up with someone, anyone! I can just see the huge question mark hovering over their heads- "HOW CAN HE BE SINGLE?!" Though, I think we're all guilty of that thought on occasion. :kisswink:

Hi Leslie

The Globes are such a great experience for anybody who is a big entertainment buff as you get the best of both TV and film. To see all the people you admire in the one place can be pretty mindblowing. I've been going for 8 years and love it. I've made alot of friends as it is the same people who go back year after year. It has only been the last 3 years that ive fully experienced everything the Globes have to offer as i used to always arrive the day before and miss rehearsals plus suffered jetlag pretty badly and went to bed after seeing the show and never hung around to see aftershow stuff. I realised the first year I experienced everything I understood why you paid what you did and kicked myself for missing it all those years previously. I didn't really get into Gerry til 300 time so missed him in 2006 and 2007 at the parties as I was not looking out for him. I do remember him walking down the carpet when POTO was nominated in 2005 but none of the crowd knew who he was so nobody was shouting on him. He looked so good. I still reckon the best moment for me was when Johnny Depp showed when he was nominated for Pirates in 2004. He never really did Award shows and nobody thought he was turning up and he showed last minute and had the red carpet to himself. The crowd went mental. I can't really say i've experienced any offhand celebrities as they know why "fans" are there and we are only alllowed in designated areas at rehearsals and during after show stuff so they are pretty amiable.

Seeing Johnny Depp would be so freakin' cool. Have to confess...I'm a bit of Johnny fan.

When we arrive at hotel we are given a letter that tells us what date the hotline opens later in Jan to put our name down for the following year. You are not obligated to take the package if you put your name down but it is best to have it on there. They start calling us around Oct time to see if we are interested. If you opt for the package you are emailed an application form to fill in and fax back with full payment. They do have a full refund guarantee but I think you only have til the day of the nominations to apply.

I've been going since 2001, long before I was a fan of Gerry's and I just love it. We book and commit to a package long before any nominations are announced so you've got to really be an entertainment fan to go. I dont think I have ever been disappointed because it is the first award show of the season so all the big names are out in force publicising themselves in the hope of SAG/Oscar nominations or just networking in general and because it is a dinner too the booze is flowing so they are all in a good mood and ready to party after. It is so well organised and there are plenty of opportunities for interaction with your fave celebs. In all the years I have been going I have yet to see any fan be carpeted for their behaviour. Everyone is so respectful hence why they allow the fans in there every year.

Thanks Moira for the info, I did not know that fans could go to the Golden Globes until you were interviewed by the reporter.

Now I'm considering going. I am an entertainment fan so for sure I´ll enjoy. And as you say it is well organised and everyone is so respectful even better.

  • 2 weeks later...

I wondered the same thing Sheri when I saw that JA would be a presenter at the GG.

It would be good PR if they presented together. Who knows.

Cheryl

I agree this would be nice on a number of levels. Not really believing everything I read but it sounds reasonable that there was a friends-only relationship between the two, and JA, according to those working on the movie, was in a much better mood when filming with GB around then when he wasn't. Last year she was dissed by BP and AJ and the TV announcers at the awards show when she was presenting and came across as really nervous. The cameramen paid particular attention to BP and AJ chuckling and shaking their heads. I became a non-fan of BP and AJ as they behaved like immature children while making fun of her nervousness. I would like to see her take on some GB confidence as together they stand up in front of the Hollywood 'elite'.

JA should keep in mind, if she does present by herself, that her movies over the past few years have brought in more movie-goers than all of BP and AJ movies put together.

:hmm:

According to my source Gerry is definitely walking the red carpet tomorrow but his Bounty co-star Jennifer Aniston will not.

Moira

What do you mean? Isn't she attending? You mean there's a difference between attending the show and doing red carpet photo shoots and interviews? Like some stars just walk inside the theatre? Sounds interesting. Please explain.

Oh, have lots of fun!

It means Theresa she goes in an alternative entrance away from the media. Alot of stars do not necessarily walk the red carpet - Mel Gibson and Daniel Day Lewis are not planning to either and Daniel is nominated. What you will find if you watch the actual Golden Globes show is you will see alot of celebs in that room who just attend that event but go in alternative entrances because they do not want to take the spotlight away for those nominated. At the Globes, dont know about the Oscars but the only people you really see on red carpet are the nominees and presenters/attendees who want publicity.

Wonderful!!! Thanks for the information. My friends and I are planning to start our GG party early so we can watch the red carpet arrivals.

This is my first GG show as a head-over-heels Gerry fan. Any shots of him tonight will be most welcome!!!
