Catwoman
Catwomen I noticed you were talking about Gerry's dropfoot occuring as he trained for "300" after he sustained a back injury in "Shattered". He actually started filming "Shattered" about 1 1/2 months after he finished filming "300". The drop foot did occur while he was filming "300", but while he filmed "Shattered" he did hurt his back when he was in the car with Pierce on the rooftop. Sorry, I just had to say that's what happened. Not trying to be 'nitpicky'. Robin Iris Thank you for clarifying this. I too thought that he shot Shattered after 300 so I was a bit confused. That scene on the rooftop did look harsh and when a friend and I were watching the film about a month ago we went "ouch". No idea there was actual injury involved. And poor Gerry, having to go into shooting of a demanding film like Shattered s quickly after 300... Once again, what a shame this film was not properly released and did not get the recognition it deserved. :-( Everyone who has seen it agrees that it is one of the best and unexpected thrillers they have seen with amazing performances by the three actors. Theresa Sorry. I was working from memory. I do recall, however, that he was doing an interview regarding training for 300 in which he spoke about having drop foot while filming 300. He also spoke specifically about sustaining a back injury while filming the rooftop crash scene in Shattered. There was a later interview where he spoke about the back injury and drop foot in the same interview after both movies had been filmed and linked both incidents. Phantom's AngelRose
Wasn't going to put my two cents worth in, but decided to anyway...I have never thought muscle bound men were attractive, it's just an UN-natural look and not "huggable" at all. Gerry's body for 300 was perfect for the role he had to play, but I did not hope for or expect him to keep that body forever...I'm one that loves a "plush," "huggable" man, and that is what Gerry is at this point, and I find it EXTREMELY attractive. He's NOT fat, just relaxed and natural, and extremely attractive and, as always, totally desirable...I don't know a soul who does not gain a bit of weight during the holiday season between Thanksgiving and Christmas...that's why so many New Year's resolutions are to lose weight, at least what was put on during the holidays. I'm just glad to see that Gerry enjoyed his Christmas with his family here in the States with him, and that he's getting some much deserved down time and time to relax and "let it all hang out" so to speak. He certainly deserves that, and I contend now and always...THE MAN LOOKS AMAZINGLY WONDERFUL..yesterday, today, tomorrow, and ALWAYS...and you can bet, come Golden Globes time, he will have it all pulled together and he will WOW them all, put them all to shame...as we know, once he dons that Dolce and Gabbana or Versace suit, NOBODY does it better...and he will have many eating their words....as he always does... Peace.... Tense

gypsygirllovesgerry
I've loved Gerry's "real man" body since the first time I saw it the summer before he did "300". He has one of the best set of legs I've ever seen on a man - nice and meaty. He's looking great and natural and like I just want to hug him (cuz big guys are so danged huggable to me). I much, much prefer this look to the exaggerated, kill-yourself-to-get-it look of "300". Just gotta love our Gerry ...he brings Amazing Grace and endless JOY to the world...I am so thankful for him...and regardless of the package, he is the gift that keeps on giving!!! Yes, YOU, Gerry!!! xoxoxo Abundant Love to *all* xooxoxoxoxooxCheri
Catwoman
One of the things I love most about Gerry is the fact that, even though he has become an A-list celeb, he continues to keep his feet on the ground. His personality comes across as truly genuine, a normal, natural, salt-of-the-earth, truly NICE person. There is no artifice about this man at all. This is also true in his physicality. Like the rest of us, he has clearly enjoyed his holiday season. So what if he's put on a few pounds. (I've got 10 of those nasty little buggers that I have GOT to get rid of myself.) Where I have a major gripe is with the media. Okay, mediapersons...you insist on your standard of perfection and when you don't get it, you betch, moan and complain. This segues into something else I really admire about Gerry. He doesn't seem to let the media and its self-important, overblown expectations/demands get under his skin. This is the mark of a man who is truly comfortable with himself and, for me, that is the definition of his appeal. The Butler has it all, looks, brains, self-confidence, insight...yeah... Dragon Slayer
Gerry has actually had back problems before Shattered. We have seen him from time to time wearing a back brace. I think it was an old soccer injury. The injury in Shattered only aggravated it and he spent about a month or so with the neurosurgeon and the chiropractor. Jeb
OK - These mod messages keep appearing and I'm now CONSUMED with curiosity over what I'm not seeing! LOL Gerry is adorable and like any active guy has picked up a few dings and dents along the way. I wish him well and hope his Island retreat recharged and relaxed him to carry on the climb to super-stardom. jane

Regarding his aggravated injury and his rehabilitation process, was this something that he revealed in an interview somewhere or common knowledge? Just curious. irish
Delene, Gerry told us this when he made his wonderful appearance at the first GALS convention. He was asked what he was currently doing and he said that he had hurt his back in a car crash scene with Pierce (of course there was a comical story to go with it about Pierce saying his granny could do it) and was spending most of his time going to doctors and having deep massage therapy. As for the drop foot....I can't remember how I know this .... but Gerry either said it or I read somewhere that Gerry's drop foot actually happened when he was young and that it was re-aggravated while making 300. hugs, Sue
laxmom
I agree with the administration of GALS. I just like seeing pictures of Gerry! I think the majority of us just want him to be happy. Negativity is never a good thing...especially on a site as "homey" as this one.I don't like to see people not getting along. So,as long as Gerry is happy and healthy,I honestly couldn't care less whether he wore pink trunks or polka dotted ones lol Or whether he has a bit of a tummy or not.The bump on the head....he obviously is fine...so I don't see a reason for worry there. I will say the drop foot interests me,I've never heard that term before...sounds more annoying than anything.
Rubee815
Here is the definition for foot drop: http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-foot-drop.htm Some cases of foot drop are temporary and others are permanent. Causes of foot drop are numerous, but the most common cause is an injury to the peroneal nerve at the top of the calf behind the knee. Other causes of foot drop include multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) Lou Gehrig’s disease, and muscular dystrophy. Additional causes include stroke, drug toxicity, diabetes, low back pain, and cauda equine, a compression of the lower bundle of nerves in the spinal cord. IslandGirl
I just adore the new pics of Gerry in Barbados. I don't like that they are razzi pics but I do like that he looks great and wish I would have been somewhere with a warm sun and the ocean over the holidays.. I love the beach and even though I live on an Island and am surrounded by beach, we don't get to enjoy it for more then 2 or 3 months during the summer! Seeing these great Barbados pics makes me miss he sunshine and heat! By the way, Happy New Year everyone.. Tense Hi there, I love these relaxed holiday photos of Gerry as well and I am interested to see your comment about his family being with him in the States this year. did you read it somewhere? I had been wondering whether his usual Christmas in Scotland had changed when I read about his various appearances in so many separate places . - Aspen on 28th December, New Year's in New York then Barbados on 3rd January. I remember hearing this too. I thought he said he was gardening when he was young, and he put a garden fork or trowel 'through' his foot, which resulted in the drop foot. I may be wrongLet's just nickname him, "Egor"."Gardening"? Wow, this man IS full of surprises? :-) I believe, and don't quote me on this, but in the UK, a "garden" is actually what we refer to as the yard. So if Gerry hurt himself while "gardening" it was probably doing what most boys have to do, raking or mowing the grass. Although, I could see Gerry tending his rose bushes. I will say the drop foot interests me,I've never heard that term before...sounds more annoying than anything. Some cases of foot drop are temporary and others are permanent. In other words, drop foot/toe, is usually the result of another, underlying condition. A slipped disk can also cause it. If Gerry is suffering from a back/disk problem, I would be happy to volunteer to do a "manipulation" for him to help him work out those "kinks". I had a physical therapist friend once who taught me some great techniques that would come in handy, I'm sure. My only question to Gerry would be, "Ok, big boy, you want it soft or do you want it hard?" Delene
