I figured since many of us will be getting Gamer today and watching it, we could start discussing.

I'm watching the extras right now and I certainly won't give anything away, but so far I have giggled ... One hint ... keep an eye out for a certain little lady. :lolita:

I saw her! She's cute!! I loved what the directors said about Gerry.

Tee hee ... I think they heard me across the street when I saw her.

Me too. :) I was actually really interested in the whole making of thing (minus some of the technical stuff). I enjoyed listening about the new camera technology they used. That was really cool.

ETA: I put on the subtitles .. he says, "I'm your daddy." The long debate is now over.

OMG! Gerry.........Gerry.........you're killing me.

I agree, you have to watch after the credits on Part 3 first. That was priceless. I laughed so hard, my eyes are watering.

And how many times did YOU watch it? I think I'm on my 5th or so ... The man is just ... well, so GERRY.

I've only seen it twice, because I skipped forward to see it. I had to go back and watch the rest, which I love by the way. I love all the behind the scenes parts. I haven't listened to the commentary yet, either, but I always find that very interesting, as well.

BTW, let me say..........I love my Blu-ray. This is so clear. Of course, I was about to smash it earlier, because the movie wouldn't play. I had to get all technical and download firmware to update the player. I was very frustrated. Anyway, it's working now. That's all that matters.

I only saw Gamer twice in the theater so it was wonderful to see it on DVD today. Gerry REALLY gave a fabulous performance. Those "quiet moments" were honest and raw, and the action was all balls out MAN.

I love this movie. I don't care what the critics or even other fans say. I think Gerry was great, the premise was great even if there was no character development (again, not Mark and Brian's strong point), and I still hate the end.

But I can't wait to watch it again later.

I agree Lisa. I really love this movie. I eventually saw it 5 times in the theater (it wasn't there long), but I liked it so much more the 2nd & 3rd times.

I just think it has such a great look and it has some of my favorite moments in any of Gerry's films. His character is a man of few words, but Gerry is so good at expressing himself with just his eyes. He doesn't have to say anything for you to feel so much.

I realize Gamer isn't for everyone and some scenes are extreme, but I think it's a kick a$$ movie and I'm enjoying the opportunity to see it again.

I agree with you Lisa. I was SO excited about this DVD, and I have to say that my record is unbroken... EVERYTIME I watch it I love it more and more! I have to say, Gamer is in my top 5 FAVORITE GERRY MOVIES! :D

The more I see, the more I appreciate the social commentary within it. It's just really extremely fascinating how it was done. You have to step back from the obviousness of the explosions and the sexual perversion and really take in the message behind it.

I stand by my statement from September that this movie will catch FIRE eventually and become a cult classic. I could not be happier with this DVD release... unless they had put outtakes on it.

I swear, I'm so much more excited today than I was when TUT was released!! Anyway, back to playing with my DVD!!

Steph

Edit: Correct grammar. Typing too quickly. Tooo excited!

What's wonderful is that Mark and Brian actually say that on the extras, and they say that was one reason they wanted him for the role. I LOVE that!

I have one more observation to make: In the two scenes where Tillman has to do things against his will Gerry is FABULOUS. You believe he is being forced to do things.

And can I say that it's way too short!

I can't say enough. :wuv:

I am so happy to hear people say good things about Gamer. My copy hasn't arrived yet but is on its way. I really liked it and hadn't expected to. Gerry's characterization was grossly overlooked by too many so-called critics and there is a lot in the film of value. Some of the scenes are as 'artistic' as any art house film. Get past the frenetic camera work (loved the opening but did wish they had calmed it down a little after that) and the shock value bits (which you can see nightly on a number of 'reality shows') and there is a lot of good stuff.

Besides, Kable/Tillman is absolutely magnificent. :D

My dvd ought to be with me next week and I'm looking forward to checking out these extras and the commentary. Gamer was shamefully under-rated and I do believe it will become a cult classic in time. Lots of interesting, challenging and thought provoking ideas were covered.

Dane,

First of all, LOVE your siggy!!! His eyes are amazing.

Next, I haven't seen GAMER yet but I remember there being lots of commercials for it when it was released here in the US. I had thought about going but got distracted... :bonk: then, after it left the theaters, I unexpectedly found myself completely nuts about Gerry. Absolutely N-U-T-S over a strapping Scotsman. :yay::woohoo:

So, I'm going to get a copy of "GAMER" tonight and have a viewing with a friend who is a fellow Gerry fan. She's the one who showed me PSILY a few weeks ago and we watched the GGs together on Sunday. It's nice to have someone local to share with as well as having this site for support.

I look forward to getting to know more members of this community who aren't just Gerry fans--but are nice, friendly people.

Thanks,

Sharon
