AbandonThought
I watched through my copy twice yesterday!! I think that the frenetic camera work is a lot better when you have it on a slightly smaller screen. It's easier to tell your mind what to focus on and what not to, and you get the better overall picture. Steph
Donnie
You "lucky bastards" (please, no offense!)!!! I was actually quite pleasantly surprised, I even could have had the DVD at the same time as you did!!! Unfortunatelly, in our coutry the postmen come when it is convenient for them, so, in most cases, you are not at home when they deliver something to you. So I had to go to the post office today (based on their notice), I have the DVD in my bag, but still am at work and cannot put it on. I ordered a copy from Amazon.uk, I hope it DOES have the extra you all refer to, but it is still a couple of hours since I will be able to see it. But I have it, so now, I can be only looking forward to seeing it (and compare my impression with yours - I saw the film twice in a cinema, I saw some YouTube interviews and clips before, but you cannot compare it to having your own DVD)!!! phoenixgirl
Sharon we're looking forward to getting to know you as well. Just woke up and my first thought was "when should I watch Gamer today?" I really am enjoying it even more than I did TUT. I wonder why that is? I need Gerry to rescue me and be the reason he hangs on.

complicated
WARNING!!! DO NOT WATCH THE MOVIE .... Go straight to the extras, Part 3 and fast forward to the credits and just KEEP WATCHING!!!! Hello to you and HELP!! Which is best to buy, the regular dvd or the Blu-Ray?? Sometimes the "extra features" are different for each format...ie "300". I'm new to BlueRay....and like it but I love the extras especially when I'm not WILD about the movie! In this case I'd settle for the regular, which I can share w/my grandson! Question I guess..... which format has the special Part 3.....hubba hubba??? I'm out the door on the morrow...tried to buy today but sadly the MCRD (Marine Corp) base store had run out of the BluRays....WHAT??....(then I started thinking about the extras). Talk about poor marketing...this movie is perfect for our fellows in uniform!! Thanks for the help, you very smart and hard working gals! Bea
I must confess when I saw Gamer in the theater I didn't it. But like Lisa I put on the subtitles and I understood the movie better. I was excited to be loving the movie. Gerry is great in this. He goes thru so many emotions and they all are conveyed by his beautiful Eyes like no one else. I can't wait too watch it again!! And the extras OMG hilarious I don't know if I was excited or scared his clothes might fall off!! Edited January 21, 2010 by Bea

Talk about poor marketing...this movie is perfect for our fellows in uniform!! Thanks for the help, you very smart and hard working gals! Donna Apparently there's more extra features on the BluRay. I haven't received mine yet so I cannot say if they are good or bad but judging from other BluRay versions, the iCon mode stuff can be awesome. Here is a link that tells you in detail what you can find on the DVD and the BluRay: http://bluray.highdefdigest.com/2789/gamer.html The BluRay has all the DVD extras as well as the following:http://bluray.highdefdigest.com/2789/gamer.html HD Bonus Content: Any Exclusive Goodies in There? The DVD package for 'Gamer' is somewhat underwhelming, but the extras exclusive to the Blu-ray are extensive, exhaustive, and extra, extra awesome./p> •Unseen Trailer (The Doobie-ness Cut) (HD, 2 min) - Before the trailer, an explanation pops up, saying this trailer was created by editor Doobie White, and it was not used due to containing "too much Doobie-ness, whatever that means. After viewing the trailer, I still am curious over the perceived inability to use the trailer, as it is fairly unique. That said, it is inferior to the other trailer on this release. •iCon Mode - From the very start, you know what you're in for, as the directing duo walk out from the picture and talk. The picture rewinds, pauses, goes full frame, and backs down as Taylor and Neveldine come toward the screen. The film cuts away for behind the scenes footage, exposing how shots were made, or even exposing errors in the film or failed effects. This is basically similar, if not identical, to the kind of experience that was made popular by the 'Watchmen' Blu-ray release. The experience lasts 38 minutes longer than the film, so you know there are plenty of cut aways. A fun track full of good information. •Cheat Codes - A user prompted commentary track on selected scenes throughout the film. What makes this feature unique is that it features the choice of numerous crew members to hear select scene commentary from, rather than just one track. Selecting a participant will lead to the video resetting and starting a scene over to hear their takes, rather than seamlessly changing audio tracks. The coverage here is less than solid, but when there are three to five options per segment, it adds up to exhaustive detail. •D-Box - Gamer is D-Box Motion Code enabled, so those with the set up can get a bit more rumble out of their viewing experience. •BD Touch - An iPhone/iPod Touch app, where users can download film content (much like BD-Live) and other movie-related information. Visit www.bdtouch.com for more information. •Metamenu - Much like the features Universal has put on recent Blu-rays, you can control your player through the website. Visit www.my.metamenus.com for more information. •Bookmarks - Make note of your favorite scenes, and share 'em! •LG-Live - There's no exclusive content, but you can download ringtones, backgrounds, control your gadgets, or post what you're watching on Facebook and/or Twitter. •Digital Copy - The second disc of this release contains a digital copy, stated to be both Windows and Mac compatible. •Ticker/Gadgets - Lionsgate's modern menu flair returns, with calendars, tickers, weather updates, and more. It really fits in here, with the menu as busy as it is. That said, the ticker is out of date, bad, with comments stating 'Gamer' is in theaters late in the scroll. Also, keep your eye out for the last ticker item, a plug from a certain high-def website... •Trailers - The disc also includes trailers for catalog Blu-rays from Lionsgate, 'Saw VI,' 'Crank 2: High Voltage,' 'Planet Hulk,' and a spot for epix high def channel. The PMT are NOT skippable via the Top Menu button, annoyingly.br> Theresa

phoenixgirl
The extras on the Blu Ray are NOT different unless you want all that techy stuff. Otherwise, the behind the scenes ARE THE SAME. Don't go running out to buy the Blu Ray for anything extra other than the Pop Up thing by Mark and Brian (which would annoy the crap out of me). Other than that, everything is the same on the regular DVD.

So I guess it's still there on the regular dvd since i saw Lisa post that said so. I'm gonna buy that one

terezoulini
Gals, I need some feedback because I think that us Europeans have been cheated out of some extra features. I got my Bluray yesterday ( Region B for Europe, Region A for America won't work here because bluray player are not easy to hack yet). I expected all the extras listed in an internet link I posted a couple of days ago. However this is all there is on the European bluray version: - Audio commentary - Icon mode - the making of Gamer - Inside the game - Controlling Gamer - Cheat codes I was expecting two trailers, the regular one and the more daring one but they're just not there. Can you please tell me what the extras are in the US version? Can you also tell me what they are the US DVD? I can play the latter on my player so I'd like to know if it's worth buying it? Has anyone bought the Region 2 DVD yet? I wonder what's on that. On a positive note, the film looks great on Bluray, better than in the theatre, great colours and definition, I actually enjoyed it, the more I watch it the better it feels. It's growing on me. The iCon mode is great, especially if you like film making and enjoy learning how things are made. The best part is that they show you how certain scenes were made and you can actually see Gerry when he is working. My favourite one is the scene where there is an explosion at a large window and he is blown out of it and onto a car. He really wanted to do the stunt himself and you see him rehearsing and jumping on the mattresses etc. He is quite nervous before the jump and he takes deep breaths, he looks a bit like in the TBH photos when he had the jump from a roof top. Finally, there is of course the scene after the credits. Althought I had been warned and knew what was coming, nothing, I mean NOTHING could have prepared me for that sort of shock!!! I mean I thought it would be a brief, blink and you'll miss it moment, but it goes on and on and on... The boy is crazy, he's beyond silly, he "acts his shoe size and not his age" as Prince says in one of his songs! LOL! Honestly, I don't know what to think, my guess is those present were at a loss for words too. But at least our G was enjoying himself and no one was harmed in the process so what the heck, you've got to love him for what he is, right? I just hope he doesn't have a daughter but a son instead, it will be awkard for his little girl to see that when she grows up. Then again, I guess she'll be used to her goofy Daddy anyway! :-) Theresa Edited January 23, 2010 by terezoulini

The only things that are not on your DVD apparently are the additional trailer (which may or may not be on the US Bluray, I'm still waiting for feedback) and the Icon mode stuff which are only on the Bluray (some more Gerry there, nice stuff but depends on whether you are a fan that must have every little thing or just the main ones). I love the Icon mode because I also enjoy watching film secrets, not just Gerry. Can you please tell me about the First Person Shooter: The Evolution of Red? It's not on the European Bluray. Is it any good? Any additional Gerry stuff there? Theresa P.S. Don't forget to watch after the credits of Inside the Game: controlling Gamer! :-)
